(Clearwisdom.net) One afternoon in June 2008, I put some truth-clarification brochures in my bag and removed my ID card and cell phone, so that I could remain anonymous if arrested. I asked for Teacher's protection in front of His portrait and went out to distribute the brochures. Approaching a painting store, a police car suddenly stopped in front. Two policemen got out of the car and asked what was in my bag. I refused to let them check my bag. They yelled at me and worked together to hold me down to the ground, with one holding me and the other trying to cuff my hands. People began to come over and check what was going on. I said aloud, "I am a Dafa practitioner. The police are arresting good people. Please remember Falun Dafa is good." I kept saying Falun Dafa is good. The two policemen drove away the onlookers and eventually cuffed my hands behind my back and pushed me into the car.
In the car I told them, "It is absolutely wrong for you to arrest me. Dafa practitioners are all good people and what we do is beneficial to both the country and the general public."
At the police station, I was taken to the reception room. Policeman B ordered me to squat down and I refused, saying, "We Dafa practitioners are good people and I am not going to squat down." He had no other option but to have me sit on a bench.
My right hand began to feel numb since the handcuffs were too tight. I said to B, "Hurry to loosen the handcuffs. My right hand is cuffed too tightly." B replied, "Don't you ask for too much." Another policeman came into the room. Learning that I am a Falun Gong practitioner, he went to search my bag. I said to him, "Everything mentioned in the brochure is the truth, and you all should read it carefully." Policeman A, one of the two people who arrested me, came in. He unlocked the handcuffs, only to cuff my hands in front of me instead. They took me to an office. They began to ask about my name and address, ordering me to write down my contact information on a piece of paper they prepared. I only told them that I'm from Guangdong Province and refused to offer any other information. One person said sternly, "We have the right to investigate you." I replied, "Dafa practitioners are good people and there's nothing for you to investigate." I firmly refused to provide any more information about myself.
Then a middle-aged, plainclothes policeman C came in. As soon as I saw him, I said to him, "You must have already understood what Dafa practitioners are. What we do is the most righteous thing." (At that time I did not know that C is the person in charge of the persecution of practitioners in this area.) Policeman A told C to go to a room with an air conditioner to interrogate me. In that air-conditioned room, C sat next to me and A across from me. Below is what happened during the interrogation.
C: Hurry to tell us your name.
Me: There is no such a need.
A: We're going to investigate your background.
Me: We are all good people. There's no need to do any investigation.
C: How come you don't dare to disclose your name?
Me: It's not necessary to reveal your name when you're doing a good deed.
C: You're violating the law.
Me: All we do is have people understand the truth of Falun Gong and thus be saved. We want to stop everyone from being poisoned and deceived by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). You police should serve the people and help yourselves. You should understand the truth. You should not side with the CCP to persecute good people. Do you know that there's an ancient stone in Guizhou Province that had six characters on it saying "Zhong Guo Gong Chan Dang Wang" (meaning "CCP Doomed to Destruction")? The CCP is going to be destroyed and you're still assisting it to persecute good people."
They were rendered speechless. About half an hour into the interrogation, I said to A, "Release the handcuffs! I am not a bad person, and I need to go home. What you are doing to me is illegal." A didn't say a word.
After a while, they claimed that they intended to send me to the police department, and I said no. Policeman A pushed me out of the police station. When C saw that I refused to get in the car, he said, "We are sending you to the police department because we hope to have more conversations with you. You're afraid to go with me?" I said I'd love to chat with upright people and he could ask me if he still had any questions about Dafa. So I got in C's car. Since only he and I were in the car, I said to him after he made a turn, "Now no one from the police station can see us. You better let me get out of the car. You are really doing a wrong thing arresting me." After a few minutes C said, "I can let you go home, but we've got to wait a little while. Do you trust me?" I said yes, "I have my family with my wife and children. Tens of thousands of practitioners are good people. When you arrest me, you're harming my whole family. If you release me, you do a right thing and you will be rewarded." He said, "I know. I'll loosen your handcuff once we get to the police department, and then we can chat."
When we got to the police department, he released my handcuffs and said, "If I want to let you go home, I can't do it at the police station. It's because someone told on you that we went to arrest you. If I released you at the police station, then no policeman would want to arrest practitioners again." I said, "It's hard to be a good person nowadays." He was very pleased to hear what I said. I then went on to clarify the truth to him, and he listened very attentively. When he went out to make a phone call, I sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate any evil elements controlling him. I said to Teacher in my heart that I would save him. After he came back in, I kept clarifying the truth to him. He looked outside the window frequently, hoping it would get dark so he could let me go. He asked what benefits I had from practicing the exercises. I told him my experiences of recovering from various kinds of illnesses that were incurable at many hospitals. He said he didn't care if I only practiced at home, but it would be a problem if I went out to distribute materials. I told him that we practitioners did this because we didn't want to see our fellow citizens suffer from all kinds of man made and natural catastrophes, and that we are truly saving people. He said, "But the government does not allow it. You can do it after Falun Gong is redressed." I replied, "This is the biggest difficulty facing us. It would be too late if we wait for Falun Gong to be redressed. Today, before Falun Gong's name is cleared, you will receive good fortune if you treat practitioners nicely."
It eventually got dark, and he said, "Come on. Let me escort you out." When we walked to the gate of the police department, I said to him, "Don't you send someone to follow me?!" He smiled, "How can I do that to you?" In order to get rid of anyone who may be following me, I walked around for one hour before I returned home. I left home at 3:00 in the afternoon, and it was close to 8:00 at night when I returned home.
I learned two things from the above experience. First, we must have strong righteous thoughts. I was able to go home on the same day of my arrest because my thoughts while distributing materials were to save people. Even though I was arrested, I still managed to maintain righteous thoughts, and I clarified the truth to the police. So Teacher helped me to get released. Second, we must look inward when facing difficulties or tribulations. Teacher warned us many times to look within. I wondered why I was arrested. I realized it's because I still had omissions. I once had a dream in which I saw a net with many holes. This was Teacher hinting to me that I had loopholes. At that time, my company wasn't doing well and I put a lot of time and energy into my job. I often thought about how I could get my boss to give me more severance pay should I be fired. I also contemplated how I would embarrass my boss if he didn't satisfy my requests. These attachments of mine were taken advantage of. If I had looked within frequently during my cultivation and removed my attachments, the evil wouldn't have caught such an opportunity to persecute me.
