(Clearwisdom.net) On January 22, 2008, the Divine Performing Arts presented the Chinese New Year Spectacular at the Detroit Opera House. The performance received warm feedback from the audience members.

Ellen Shindle, a media buyer exclaimed, "I loved it! I didn't know what to expect before we got here, but I think it's a great show. I loved all that talent, the costumes, and the music. It was great." She said she had never seen anything like it. "I have seen some other Chinese shows, but they were more acrobatic. This is the first time I have seen a show like this."

Although she did not have a particular favorite, her husband, Frank, was quick to say that his favorites were "The Drummers of the Tang Court" and "Snowy Mountains, White Lotus." He added, "Overall the show was very inspiring, very pure, and very meaningful... I liked the way they kind of imply that if you endure, good will always win out over evil."

A Motown Artist: "A Wonderful Visual, as Well as Spiritual, Performance"

Martha Reeves, a Motown artist, is a professional entertainer. She has been singing rhythm and blues for 40 years and was a first-timer at the Chinese New Year Spectacular.

She enjoyed every piece in the show. "I thought it was gorgeous. Such a wonderful array of costumes. The dancers were superb. It was a wonderful visual, as well as spiritual, performance, and I enjoyed every moment of it."

"I have studied opera, and as an artist, I appreciate everything. I can see that it took a lot of practice and precision that only comes from actually being together and working together. It is a wonderful, wonderful marriage."

Asked about the impact of the show in Detroit, she said, "Yes, you see the people standing in line like they are today to see the show. You have a full house and a lot of enthusiasm. When I went to the restroom, I noticed how fast people hurried back to their seats so they could see the rest of the show. It is great for Detroit. I have not seen anything like this before."

An Engineer: "The Show Is Wonderful"

Albert, an engineer, attended the Chinese New Year Spectacular for the first time. He said, "I liked the folk dances, the fan dances, and the drum dances. They were excellent. This is the first Chinese performance I have ever seen and I thought it was wonderful."
