For refusing to renounce Falun Dafa, four retirees in Xian'an District, Xianning City have had 300f their salaries involuntarily withheld since December 2005. No legal paperwork or procedure was followed.

3. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Practitioner Mr. Zheng Wanze Forced to Leave Town with Nowhere to Stay
Since July 2007, officers from the Dingzhuang Police Station in Ling County, Dezhou City went to practitioner Mr. Zheng Wanze's home five times to unlawfully search it. Mr. Zheng managed to escape. He has left town and has no place to live.
On July 14, 2007, Du Liangxue (male), director of the Huiwang Township Police Station, participated in the persecution of practitioners Mr. Sun Jiping and Ms. Zhu Xiuying in Huiwang Township, Ling County.
In May, Ren Ping (male), director of the Mi Town Police Station, participated in the persecution of practitioners in Ling County, including Mr. Wei Guozhen, Ms. Zhang Shuqiu (who has been unlawfully sentenced to 18 months of forced labor and is held at the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City, Shandong Province), and Ms. Gao Guoxiang (who is being held at the Jinan Women's Prison).
4. [Heilongjiang Province] "Special Task Group" Formed at Tonghe County State Security Division to Persecute Practitioners
A "Special Task Group" has been formed at the Tonghe County State Security Division to investigate Falun Gong related cases. Practitioner Ms. Yang Xiufen has been taken into custody. It has been learned that orders have been issued to towns, townships, and villages to sort out practitioners to investigate and record related information and tap into their phones or otherwise place them under surveillance.

5. [Yingcheng City, Hubei Province] Additional Information on the Unlawful Detention of Practitioner Mr. Xiong Wende
At around 11:00 p.m. on August 20, 2007, Mr. Xiong Wende, a practitioner from Yingcheng City, was visiting Langjun Town in Yingcheng City on a motorcycle. Patrolling officers from the Langjun Police Station forcibly took him to the Yingcheng City No. 2 Detention Center without cause.

6. [Qingzhou City, Shandong Province] Older Practitioner Ms. Sun Aiying Unlawfully Taken to Forced Labor Camp
On July 17, 2007, officers from the 610 Office arrived at Ms. Sun Aiying's home in Zhangyang Village, Tanfang Town, Qingzhou City. Ms. Sun is a practitioner who is almost 70 years old. The officers forcibly took her to the Qingzhou Detention Center. Ten days later, she was unlawfully sentenced to forced labor. Ms. Sun is being held at the Wangcun Women's Forced Labor Camp in Shandong Province.
7. [Shanxi Province] Some Persecution Facts at the Shanxi Provincial Women's Prison
There are 170 people held at the No. 4 Team in the Shanxi Women's Prison (also known as the Maoerling Women's Prison in Yuci City). They have to start working at workshops by 6:50 a.m. The morning shift ends at 11:50 a.m. Lunch starts at 12:00 noon. They have to start working again in the workshops at 2:30 p.m. The afternoon shift ends at 9:30 p.m. Everyone has to work 12 hours a day. They are forced to knit sweaters. The manufacturer on the label is "Donghua Clothing and Knitting Factory." No one is allowed to talk during work. One can only go to restroom during pre-designated time slots. When one gets sick, no clinic visit is allowed. When one is not ill, she is forced to take drugs without knowing what they are.
8. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Additional Information on the Unlawful Arrest of Practitioners Mr. Gao Mingxing and Mr. Chen Shang
On August 1, 2007, Mr. Gao Mingxing and Mr. Chen Shang were coming out of Mr. Chen's aunt's home in Zixing Village, Shalizhai Township when officers from the Dandong City State Security Department took the two practitioners into custody. The officers blindfolded and took them to the Dandong State Security Department in two separate vehicles.
Mr. Gao Mingxing is being held at the Wulongbei Hot Springs Rehabilitation Institute in Dandong City for interrogation. On August 21, Mr. Chen Shang managed to escape. A large number of police officers have been mobilized to capture him.
9. [Yunnan Province] Ms. Guo Lingna, an Employee at the Kunming City Cement Factory Library, Unlawfully Sent to Labor Camp
At around 3:00 p.m. on August 3, 2007, officers from the Liujiaying Police Station in Kunming City took into custody Ms. Guo Lingna, an employee at the Kunming Cement Factory Library in Yunnan Province. On August 4, Ms. Guo was taken to the Xishan District Detention Center in Kunming City. On August 13, she was taken to the Dabanqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp in Kunming City, serving a two-year forced labor term. Ms. Guo's family did not receive any paperwork regarding the detention or forced labor sentencing.
10. [Gangu County, Gansu Province] Persecution of Practitioner Ms. Zhang Fengwa
Ms. Zhang Fengwa, 62, is a practitioner who lives in Beiguan Village in Daxiangshan Town, Gangu County, Gansu Province. In 2006, she was taken into custody by the Gangu County State Security Division and held at the Gangu County Detention Center for 24 days. She was later released on parole. On July 17, 2006, she was forced to pay a 5,000 yuan deposit in exchange for parole. On July 17, 2007, only 2,000 yuan was returned upon the end of the parole. The other 3,000 yuan was confiscated.
On May 11, 2007, Gou Binya (male), head of the Gangu County State Security Division, searched Ms. Zhang's home. The officers took away a copy of Zhuan Falun, a portrait of Falun Gong's founder, copies of new articles written by Falun Gong's founder, and Falun Gong exercise tapes. The police fined Ms. Zhang 1,000 yuan on the grounds of violating residential security regulations.

11. [Tianjin] Practitioner Ms. Zhang Rong Faces Unlawful Trial
Ms. Zhang Rong, 54, is a practitioner from Hedong District, Tianjin. On July 26, 2007, she was distributing truth-clarifying materials in the Tangkou Residential Community in Hedong District when residents in the buildings called the police. Officers from the Tangkou Police Station took her into custody and later searched her home. The officers took away all her Falun Dafa books. She was placed under detention the same day at the Hedong Police Department. Ms. Zhang Rong went on hunger strike for twelve days. The officers force-fed her twice. Worried she could die at the police department, the police sent her to a hospital. Medical examinations indicated that her life was in danger. Only then did the police notify her family and asked her daughter to sign paperwork to take Ms. Zhang home for parole pending her trial.

12. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Persecution of Practitioner Ms. Shi Hongru
Ms. Shi Hongru is a practitioner from Shimenzhuang Village in Hekou Township, Shunping County, Baoding City. On the evening of August 18, 2007, she went to Zhaipozhuang Village in Baiyun Township, Shunping County to distribute truth-clarifying materials. After she left the village, Ji Xinping (female), director of the village's women's association took truth-clarifying leaflets to the village CCP Secretary Nan Leqi (male). Nan led other officials to pursue Ms. Shi. They caught up with her and called the Baiyun Township Police Station. Officers from the police station arrived and took Ms. Shi into custody in the local area for a day. On the evening of August 19, the police transferred her to the county detention center.

13. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Ms. Tan Xiuying Unlawfully Taken into Custody
On August 20, 2007, Ms. Tan Xiuying from Shijiazhuang City went out. In two days, she did not return. At around 8:00 p.m. on August 22, plainclothes officers led by the crime response team in the Qiaodong Police Department in Shijiazhuang City broke into Ms. Tan's home. The officers took away Falun Dafa books, a personal computer, and other items. It was also learned that Ms. Tan Xiuying had been arrested and is being held at the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center.
14. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Ms. Liu Ying Transferred to Daqing No. 1 Detention Center
Ms. Liu Ying was restrained in an iron chair, with her arms and legs tied to it, in the Daqing City Police Department. She was deprived of sleep for over 30 hours. She has been transferred to the Daqing City No. 1 Detention Center for continued persecution. Zhang Tiehui (male), president of the Daqing City People's Hospital, was the most vicious in persecuting practitioner Ms. Liu Ying. Zhang's younger brother is the deputy head of the Daqing City Crime Response Team.
15. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] State Security Agents in Fufeng County Secretly Investigate Local Practitioners
Recently, members of the 610 Office and agents at the State Security Division in Fufeng County, Shaanxi Province secretly followed and investigated local practitioners. They pretended to conduct surveys on biographical information, medical history, and prescription drug usage. They also approached practitioners pretending to ask for directions to and locations of retail stores.
16. [Shanghai] Practitioner Ms. Jin Huizhen Unlawfully Sentenced to a Year of Forced Labor
Practitioner Ms. Jin Huizhen has been unlawfully sentenced to a year of forced labor by the Zhabei Police Department in Shanghai. At the time this entry was written, Ms. Jin still remained at the Zhabei Detention Center. After her unlawful detention on July 22, 2007, conducted by the Zhabei Police Department, the police have rejected her family's numerous requests to see her.
17. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Mr. Shen Youliang Taken into Custody
On the morning of July 19, 2007, a dozen officers from both the Fengfeng Mining District Police Department in Handan City and the Pengcheng Police Station arrived at the pharmacy operated by practitioner Mr. Shen Youliang. The officers searched the place, confiscated Falun Dafa materials, and took Mr. Shen away to the Fengfeng Mining District Detention Center. Mr. Shen remains in custody.

18. [Guan County, Shandong Province] Practitioner Mr. Ren Zijing Sent Home on the Verge of Death
Mr. Ren Zijing, a practitioner from Guan County in Shandong Province, was unlawfully sentenced to eighteen months of forced labor in October 2005 for clarifying the truth. In the labor camp, Mr. Ren resisted the persecution. Zheng Wanxin (male), division head, and Wang Baohua (male), deputy division head, deprived him of sleep, forced him to sit on hard stools, beat him until he was wounded all over his body, cursed and attempted to brainwash him, and left force-feeding tubes in his stomach, causing him to vomit and experience pain. Mr. Ren was sent home only after an extended amount of torture until he became emaciated and was on the verge of death.
19. [Lanxi County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Han Xingrong and Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
At around 4:00 p.m. on August 20, 2007, practitioners Mr. Han Xingrong, Ms. Mao Shuhua, and Mr. Yu Zhongjie were clarifying the truth in the streets. The police took them into custody. The three practitioners are being unlawfully held at the Lanxi County No. 1 Detention Center.

20. [Shanghai] Police Harass Practitioner Ms. Yuan Xiufang at Her Home
Practitioner Ms. Yuan Xiufang lives in No. 4 Huicheng Residential Community in Xuhui District, Shanghai. After she served a prison term, the police from the Changqiao Police Station and officials from the Changqiao Neighborhood Administration Office have frequently showed up at her home to coerce her to write a guarantee statement. When Ms. Yuan refused to answer the door, the officers brought handcuffs and threatened to take her into custody.
21. [Tianjin] Practitioner Ms. Yang Guangjin Forced to Leave Town
Ms. Yang Guangjin is a practitioner from Houxiang Village in Huangkou Town, Wuqing District, Tianjin. On August 4, 2007, she went to the Houxiang Police Station asking for her pictured personal identification card so she could visit her husband, Mr. Liu Jiguo, who has been unlawfully held at the Liyuantou Prison in Tianjin. The residential police officer in charge of her area was not in the police station. Shortly after Ms. Yang returned home, the residential officer and an associate officer showed up at her home. They searched around and took away truth-clarifying materials and Falun Dafa books. They told Ms. Yang to "wait for further police decisions." Ms. Yang Guangjin had no choice but to leave home.
Ms. Yang's husband Mr. Liu Jiguo was arrested by the Houxiang Police Station for writing banners saying "Falun Dafa is great." He is being held in the Liyuantou Prison. Their daughter, in her twenties, is the only person at home.
22. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Recount of Family Members' Attempts to Visit Practitioner Ms. Zhu Shuyun at the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp
Practitioner Ms. Zhu Shuyun was taken to the Changchun Police Hospital for persecution by officials at the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp. She was taken back to the labor camp about a month ago. Her families live in Nong'an County, which is far away from the Heizuizi Labor Camp. Each Tuesday is the "visit day" designated by the labor camp authorities. When Ms. Zhu's younger brother and sister-in-law came to visit her, they were denied admission.
On August 14, 2007, Ms. Zhu's family members came to the labor camp again. Guards told them that they still could not see Ms. Zhu. Ms. Zhu's younger sister went to the front gate of the labor camp in an attempt to speak to the labor camp director. The guards did not allow her to go in. She fell down at the gate, and her body cramped up. A labor camp division head came out of the reception room and yelled, "Carry her outside the gate first!" Ms. Zhu's other family members called for an ambulance to take her to the hospital.
On August 21, the labor camp officials only allowed Ms. Zhu's younger sister to see her with the presence of the division head Liu. Ms. Zhu had been held in isolation. She appeared emaciated and very weak. The officials did not allow her family to give Ms. Zhu the fruit they brought for her.

23. [Jingmen City, Hubei Province] Several Practitioners in Gaoyang Town, Shayang County Taken to the Police Station
Ten days ago, Chen (gender unknown), the political instructor of the Gaoyang Town Police Station in Shayang County, Jingmen City, led a group of people to forcibly take practitioners Mr. Li Qingshan and his wife Ms. Huang La into custody. The officers confiscated a notebook computer and a printer. Three days later, Chen again led the officers to take Mr. Yang Shouan and his son Mr. Yang Chen (who is not a practitioner) into custody. The officers took away two computers. The whereabouts of those taken into custody are unknown.

On the afternoon of August 23, 2007, practitioner Ms. Wang Yanxia was turned in to the police while clarifying the truth. She was taken away by the Nanta Police Department. 29. [Hebei Province] Political and Judiciary Committee's Briefing in Baoding City Reveals Its Unlawful Acts
On August 6, 2007, the so-called "Special Report No. 89 on Harsh Crackdowns," a special issue of the Political and Judiciary Committee's Briefing in Baoding City, Hebei Province, has revealed its crimes in persecuting Falun Gong. The report stated that between June and August 6, a total of 62 Falun Gong practitioners were taken into custody in the Baoding area. 53 were detained, and 28 were sent to the forced labor camp. The authorities confiscated 233 copies of Falun Dafa books, 165 cassette tapes, 687 CDs or DVDs, 20 videotapes, 7 truth-clarifying banners, 21,133 copies of truth-clarifying brochures, nine computers, 11 printers or other printing units, and 17 media players. The Baoding State Security Branch Unit, in association with local police, took into custody Mr. Dong Yanjun, a Falun Gong practitioner from Laishui City, on June 22. Officials at the Daxing Women's Forced Labor Camp have implemented harsh policies against practitioners who refused to comply to their demands. The officials deprived the practitioners of meeting their family members for three months, deprived them of meals, allowed them to sleep for only two hours at night (and for the rest of the time, they were forced to write down "thought reports" based on devious doctrines, engage in slave labor, or undergo torture such as standing still for hours). The practitioners have been held in warehouses, forced to sit on small stools, and prevented from seeing outside people. The officials also forced practitioners to take unknown drugs. If a practitioner refuses to be "transformed," she will be transferred to a concentration team for escalated persecution.

In February 2007, Ms. Zhong Shiqiong, a practitioner from Jianwei County, was taken into custody by plainclothes at the Shixi Electric Plant. Her home was searched. Ms. Zhong is being held at the Fenghuangshan Detention Center.
On July 11, 2007, Mr. Chen Xiancai, a practitioner from Jianwei County, was called away by officials at the Shixi Electric Plant over the phone. Mr. Chen is being held at the Xinhua Forced Labor Camp in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province.

33. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Police Detain Ms. Liu Guihua
Ms. Liu Guihua is a practitioner who lives at Dongzhuang Group in Foyedong Township, Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province. On the morning of August 20, 2007, she was clarifying the truth at a farmers' market. Zhao Runjiang (male), political instructor at the Foyedong Police Station, and Gao Xiuchun (female) took Ms. Liu into custody. Zhao and Gao later searched Ms. Liu Guihua's home and confiscated Falun Dafa books and truth-clarifying materials. On the afternoon of August 20, the police took Ms. Liu to the Lingyuan City No. 2 Detention Center.
Ms. Liu's husband is not in good health. The entire family counts on Ms. Liu for income. Now that the police have taken her into custody, her family members are grieved and struggling.
