(Clearwisdom.net) On July 19, 2007, Falun Gong practitioners from North America, Europe and Asia held a rally in front of the Capitol in Washington D.C., calling for an end of the persecution. Several U.S. congressmen, leaders of non-government organizations, human right lawyers and victims made speeches at the rally.
Frank Pallone, Congressman from New Jersey, sent a letter to the rally to support the activities in D.C. to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. The following is the text of his letter:
Dear Friends:
I would like to extend my support for you today as you conduct your rally marking the "Eighth Year [of the] Crackdown on Falun Gong in China." This dynamic demonstration will help bring the necessary attention to the on-going human rights violations against Falun Gong practitioners. I believe that the notable speakers, Falun Gong group exercises, and exhibitions you have arranged for this rally will effectively emphasize the problems caused by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) tyranny.
As you know, the problems facing Falun Gong practitioners continue to surface. Mounting evidence shows that officials of the CCP hold Falun Gong practitioners in concentration camps before killing them for their organs, bones, and tissues. In another instance, over 800 Falun Gong practitioners were violently deported from Hong Kong when attempting to participate in celebrations of its ten-year anniversary of Hong Kong's handover to China. The defamation of Falun Gong practitioners is not limited to China. These violations continue in the Chinese-American communities. The Chinese consulate has gained control of the Chinese Student and Scholar Association, inciting the organization to hold anti-Falun Gong campaigns on some college campuses. Clearly, these human rights atrocities cannot continue to go on unaddressed.
With your help, and with rallies such as this one, I believe we can make strides to redress these on-going issues. I want to thank you for your continued efforts to bring attention to these violations against Falun Gong practitioners caused by the People's Republic of China.
Sincerely,
Frank Pallone
