Greetings to respectful Master! Greetings to fellow practitioners!
I am 66 years old and I attained the Fa in 1996. I still remember soon after I started to practice cultivation, Master adjusted and cleansed my body. My stomach hurt so much that I could neither eat nor drink. I silently recited, "When it's difficult to endure, you can endure it. When it's impossible to do, you can do it." As I clenched my teeth, I heard the exercise music coming from beyond the sky. I felt a Law Wheel (Falun) rotating so rapidly in my abdomen that my whole body was shaken. At that point, my tears welled up, "Thank you, thank you, Master, I believe I can overcome this." Ever since then, whenever I mention Master, I get teary-eyed. My feelings are beyond description.
I know I am here to follow Master and save people. When I saw that the number of people quitting their affiliations with the CCP and its organizations was increasing so slowly, I felt ashamed and uneasy. Master said in "Teaching the Fa at the Fa Conference at the U.S Capital:"
"If the number of the world's people to be saved was just this many--and everything were to end at this point, it would take less than a day for the evil party to disintegrate."
Master is so compassionate; he always encourages his disciples instead of blaming them for their failures. I often said to myself, "Millions of households in China have telephones. It would only take a few seconds to reach them if we called whenever we had the time. It can be accomplished as time permits, and the evil has no way to stop it. Isn't that preparing for today's salvation? Master said,
"Your personal cultivation only makes for the fulfillment of one being, yet the role that you serve in saving sentient beings makes for the fulfillment of a great multitude of main-body beings, boundless numbers of beings, and even greater cosmic bodies--that's how big what you are shouldering is!" ("Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference")
Master would like his disciples to accomplish this huge task; we have no reason not to act according to Master's will. Thus I volunteered to work in the hotline group at the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP. Every day I received phone calls and also made calls to China. For 18 months I have been making phone calls at night to encourage people to quit the CCP. During the daytime, I study the Fa, practice the exercises, send forth righteous thoughts, and take care of other things. Like a lot of other practitioners, I have reduced the amount of sleep time to get everything done. Thus I have eliminated a lot of my attachments to comfort and ease. My ability to bear hardship, my endurance and willpower have increased greatly. Sometimes there is an activity that involves all practitioners. After a whole night calling and taking calls from people who want to quit the CCP, I practice the five exercises in the morning, and I rest for a while. Then I will go to the site with banners, photo boards, and other needed items. I keep working some more. I am still energetic. I know that my strength comes from our benevolent Master.
The topic of quitting the CCP is quite sensitive to people from China. When I have made phone calls, sometimes the person at the other end has been scared that he or she was being taped, sometimes they would hurl insults, and many times people hung up on me time after time. What really upset me is that I felt that they were so lost and it is really hard to save them! In fact the process of helping people quit the CCP is also a process of exposing my human attachments and enhancing my xinxing.
Master told us,
"As for whether the result is good, don't look at the other party, it comes from your minds. If you want it to be good then it will be good. And if you don't intend to make it good, or if your mind is unsteady, then it won't be easy to rectify things. In other words, you need to have strong righteous thoughts. If you're thinking, 'I'm truly saving you. I'm truly telling you the facts,' then the result will be good." ("Explaining the Fa During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference")
So I adjusted my mindset according to what Master told us. Once I pick up the phone, I am in the pure state of "truly wanting to save you." The people I am talking to feel the kindness. There is no gap between us. Soon, I make contact with people who have predestined relationships with me. Some will directly ask me to help them to quit the CCP, others are amazed and ask, "How do you know that I am a Party member?" In fact I really do not know whether the person is a Party member or not. A female student attending a university in Xian, Shanxi Province, said, "I am writing my application to join the Party. If you hadn't called I would have handed it in tomorrow." A teacher from Shenyang, Liaoning Province, gave me the phone numbers of her 18 relatives so that I would help them quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. In a college dormitory in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, two students listened to me while they held the phone between them. They talked to me in turn, and soon another student joined them. One student said, "I've finally found the person who knows what's in my heart." A loud Beijing speaker told me, "I've listened to your broadcasts many times, and each time I pressed the key awaiting your reply. I finally got it today!" When I tried to give him an alias, I suggested randomly, "Your surname is Li." He laughed, "Gee, I've come across a god today! How did you know that my surname is Li?" These people are just like my relatives and friends whom I haven't seen for a long time. Many of them will listen to whatever I say and they will believe me. Others also have predestined relationships with me, yet still become puzzled and have obstacles in their hearts and are waiting for me to dissolve them.
Master said,
"People with predestined relationships and those who can be saved can be made to--made to by Master's Law Bodies, righteous gods, or the immense field that Dafa has formed in the world--appear right before you in any of a range of settings, providing them with a chance to learn the truth. But you have to carry it out, and it doesn't work if you're not out there doing things."("Teaching the Fa at the Fa Conference at the U.S Capital")
Master has prepared everything, and only waits for his disciples to do it.
Quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations (in Chinese we call it the "Three Withdrawals" representing quitting the CCP, the Youth League, and the Young Pioneers) is the opportunity that gods grant to people to choose their futures. Encouraging or helping people to quit is the opportunity granted to our Dafa disciples to fulfill our vows made with Master in prehistoric times. This sacred historic mission requires us to fulfill it with all our heart and soul.
As to making phone calls to people, what should I say to inspire them to have a correct attitude toward gods? While I was thinking about this, Master's words in "Teaching the Fa in the City of Chicago" came to mind,
"It is for the purpose of saving all beings and saving the people in the world today that we help people to see the wicked CCP for what it is. Of course, no matter how the CCP tries to hide the evil face of its wicked gangster regime, once the world's people come to know it for what it is, they will realize that it is evil, and they will not cooperate with it anymore, choosing instead to withdraw from the Party."
I felt suddenly enlightened. Right! I will put more emphasis on letting others know what a cruel and evil demon the CCP is. A university student in Fujian Province, sobbed, "I can't even bear to listen, it is too cruel." Dema, a Tibetan government official, wept while listening to me. She asked me to save her husband who works for the public security, and said her husband is a really nice man. A bus driver from Taiyuan told me he often overheard passengers on the bus talking about the cruel live organ harvesting. He also told me that when he served in the army, his political instructor was very greedy. He made him a Party member and asked for 300 yuan in return. The instructor once bragged that he took part in the suppression of students in the Tiananmen Square Massacre in 1989 (known by Chinese people as the "June 4th event"). He described how the army used armored vehicles and scatter-guns to kill the students. A peasant from Shenyang, Liaoning Province, cursed the CCP, saying he "I would like to make a thorough break with the doggish party." I found when I talked to people as Master had told us to, the words would easily touch people's hearts and arouse a sympathetic response. It takes little effort to persuade them to quit CCP.
A young man from Beijing quit the CCP using the name "Edge of Sky." I told him how to break through the Internet blockage to surf the Internet freely. It seemed like a good thing, right? But for some reason I felt somewhat concerned about him. So I called him the following day and asked if he had been able to use the software. Suddenly I realized that I hadn't told him the truth about Dafa, and I immediately understood why I was thinking about him. This enlightenment came from Master. As expected, because he had watched CCTV programs that slandered Dafa and the staged self-immolation, he believed their lies. So I had to clarify the truth of Dafa to him. Otherwise, quitting the CCP would not have helped him.
Regarding saving all sentient beings, Master said,
"Only your attitude towards Fa-rectification today and your understanding of Dafa matter. That's the only thing that counts. If you can't accept even Dafa, then you have lost your chance. If you say, 'I don't acknowledge Dafa,' well, if you don't acknowledge Dafa you are not acknowledging the future, for the future is made by this Fa." ("Teaching the Fa in Canada, 2006")
The Chinese have been deceived by the theory of atheism. When I tell them, "Heaven will destroy the CCP. Save yourself by quitting," they become hostile and talk back, saying that there is no scientific basis for believing this, it is superstitious, it is blind belief, and so on. I say just one sentence, but because they are talking back my voice rises before I know it. I then said to myself, "How can I do it this way? I have to find out why my heart is moved by this. Is there anything that I have not done righteously? Yes, I am lacking compassion." So later on, when talking to people I started with very "basic" principles of the universe, making it sound reasonable to those who don't believe in gods or Buddhas, and I talk in a general way about the inevitable CCP's demise.
One way is to talk about the principle of the universe that "Good is rewarded, and evil is punished" and that everything, including the universe, follows the course of "formation, growth, decay, and destruction." To support it I use the examples of the 27 dynasties from ancient times to today, and then ask, which one was not destroyed when it was at its most corrupt and cruel? Most of my listeners will respond, "That is right!" I also mention the "stone with characters" and the "barking stone," which can be seen and touched. There is no way for them to not believe these tangible facts. The third method I use is to talk about events that amazingly coincide with prophecies made in the East and in the West. They are so clear, as obvious as black and white. By talking about things like this, fewer and fewer people say we are foolish.
While persuading people to quit the CCP, they often raise a lot difficult questions. If we can't seize the chance to explain it for them, they may hang up and thus lose their chance. For instance, I was once asked, "Aren't Hu and Wen (the Chairman and the Prime Minister of China) far better than Jiang Zemin? You guys are so reactive. Are you afraid that the world is not messy enough? How can a strong country like China be put into perdition?" Just to mention a few. At first when I came across this kind of person, I lacked confidence and wondered what to do. It seemed better not to talk big or boast. "I'd better say something practical, or talk about things that I need to deal with in my ordinary life." Thus I started to study Master's related lectures and read the Nine Commentaries. I also obtained materials and information from Dafa disciple websites. Now I feel more surefooted facing these people. For example, an official in a coastal city talked big, saying that the CCP is reforming and becoming good and that we should look at the mainstream of it and focus on its development. I did not hold back and just told him about the overwhelming amount of violence and crimes the CCP has committed, and let him know that the cruel and violent nature of the CCP will never change. I talked with him about things from the past to the present, from inside China to foreign lands. He finally said, "Interesting. You almost get it. Right. That's it." I then suggested that he should quit the Party. He said, "I'm kind of messed up, I have to think it over. I've got a visitor, and will talk to you later." Then he told me his surname. Days later, I called him again trying to find him. His secretary asked, "You want to talk to Secretary so and so?" At that moment, I knew who he was. Thus, the Secretary of a city Party committee wrote down how to break through the Internet blockade so he could browse the Clearwisdom and Epoch Times websites. He said he would like to read more before he makes a decision.
There are also some people who in the end still refuse to quit. Then I feel my mind goes blank. Shall I continue or give up? It is a xinxing test for me again. I studied Master's lectures on quitting the CCP after the Nine Commentaries were published. The Fa principles raised me to higher levels and broadened my insight. Also, by reading sharing articles about helping people quit the CCP written by practitioners in China I've learned some very vivid and appropriate metaphors, comparisons, and some meaningful words to say.
For instance, many people say that they no longer belong to those organizations, since they are already too old to be a young pioneer or a youth league member. I then use the comparison of a couple's separating and divorce to tell them it will not count. To those ordinary CCP members who feel they are worry-free since they are innocent, I will say, "If a person killed others with a knife in his right hand, when he is executed, will his left hand not go with him?" Or I may say, if a patient suffers from cancer, when he dies don't his healthy cells also die?" If the person is still unsure, I will say, "The evil CCP is just like a rotten apple, and you are just like the good little part of it, if the whole apple is to be thrown out, that means you will be buried with the CCP since you are a part of it. If the good part is cut off of the apple, meaning you abandon the CCP, you will live a new life." If the person still hesitates, I will tell him, "Why don't you quit? After you break away from this wicked demon, you will demonstrate righteousness and that you have a conscience. You will be unashamed and guilt-free. But if you do not quit, what will you do then when the party crumbles? Better to believe it. Today, quitting the CCP is like having a free life insurance." With these words, most people will not hesitate any more.
It is true that if we could be as kind, patient, confident, and wise as we are supposed to be, with Master's benevolent help, we could believe without doubt, "I just don't believe their consciences are irretrievably lost." I know as long as Dafa disciples think righteously, our great Master does everything. A businessman from Xinjiang Autonomous Region changed his attitude and quit the CCP. He then commented, "Your call lasted so long--your company must be very wealthy." I corrected him, "You are wrong there. All the people here are volunteers at the Global Service Center for Quitting CCP. We pay for everything ourselves." He said, "Little did I think such good people still existed nowadays." Another businessman from Wuhan told me that he read the Nine Commentaries that he received from an elderly Falun Gong lady, a total stranger. "She just gave it to me without worrying about being reported. I know you guys act for the sake of others." An elderly Beijing resident changed his attitude from not wanting to quit to wanting to quit using his real name. Eventually he said with gratitude, "When you come back to China, I will invite you to stay at my home, so that we can enjoy a good chat and a good drink together."
An official who works for a unit affiliated with the Military Committee in charge of gathering and researching military relics at first told me that he didn't understand and he just couldn't bear to think about it. But he did quit in the end. Even then, he still wouldn't hang up the phone. Finally he said seriously, "I will follow you from now on."
When hearing such heart-felt words and "thank yous" after I help people to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations, I indeed feel what the sentient beings are longing for. Master wants disciples to be the only hope for sentient beings salvation, yet what I have done is still too far from Master's requirements. Still, I am confident enough that with Master's strengthening and my own righteous thoughts, I will definitely do better in truth clarifying over the phone.
Before I end my sharing, I would like to encourage fellow practitioners (and myself) by quoting Master:
"As for you, once you Consummate you will know. At that point, words won't be enough to describe the greatness of your Master! (Applause) I've given my utmost concern not just to you, but to all lives. I have almost depleted everything of mine for all lives.... I just want to tell you that you should cherish this undertaking that your Master is carrying out! You have to do well in cultivation. Don't miss this chance." ("Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Switzerland," 1998)
