(Clearwisdom.net) On May 16, 2007, four people attempted to visit illegally detained prisoner Ms. Liu Dan at the Zhuzhou City Baimalong Forced Labor Camp. They were: Mao Xiangtao (Ms. Liu's mother), Tang Fengying (Ms. Liu's mother-in-law), Xu Sanxi (Ms. Liu's sister-in-law), and a friend from Yueyang City, Hunan Province.
A guard working at the camp refused to let them visit that day, because they had seen Ms. Liu the previous week. The relatives argued but were referred to the head of the camp. Xu Sanxi went upstairs to find the person in charge. The official had a terrible attitude and accused Liu Dan's relatives of finding people to destroy and expose Majialong Forced Labor Camp. He used this as an excuse to refuse to let them visit. He ordered the guards to drag Xu Sanxi downstairs. Mao Xiangtao, Tang Fengying, and Liu's friend were taken to the reception room. The Shifeng District Police Station in Zhuzhou City was called to take Liu's four relatives and friend away because they had no identification. Mao Xiangtao was detained for five days. Tang Fengying and Liu's friend were each jailed for ten days.
Ms. Liu Dan, also know as Liu Meiling, is a practitioner from the Luowang Potanic Garden in Luoyang City, Hunan Province. She went to Beijing to clarify the truth and appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa in mid-December 1999. She trusted the government to do what was right, but she was sent to Hubin Detention Center in Yueyang City for one month and charged 600 yuan for living expenses. Ms. Liu went to Beijing to appeal and clarify the truth again on January 8, 2000. She was taken to the Yueyang City Detention Center and held there for more than a month. She was then transferred to another detention center for more than 20 days. After protesting the persecution by holding a hunger strike, she was finally released but charged hundreds of yuan for living expenses.
On December 27, 2000, Liu Dan went to appeal in Beijing again. She was detained at the Beijing Yueyang Hotel. Two police officers trampled her face with their shoes and then gave her a terrible beating. One officer said, "You were gently treated today, because you look like a child. Otherwise you would be totally crushed." Ms. Liu was taken to the Linxiang County Detention Center several days later. She was illegally sentenced to one-and-a-half-years in a forced labor camp and released in mid-October 2002.
Ms. Liu Dan married Zhou Yongbing in January 2004. They were illegally arrested while preparing business supplies and clarifying the truth in late May. She was sentenced to three years and Zhou to two-and-a-half years of forced labor.
Ms. Liu Dan was brutally tortured by the guards because she wouldn't wear a tag or stand when ordered. She was handcuffed with her hands behind her back and deprived of sleep while handcuffed to the window frame for days. Her legs swelled terribly and she was not allowed to use the restroom. The guards assigned drug addict inmates to scrub her body with toilet brushes in the shower, inflicting bloody scratches all over her skin. They used inhumane torture in an attempt to "transform" her. They shocked her with electric batons, beat her with sticks, poked her with needles, force-fed her, forced her to stand for long periods of time, and deprived her of restroom use, among other things.
Mr. Zhou Yingbing, Liu Dan's husband, was also brutally tortured at Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Changsha City. He was burnt with cigarettes, bound with ropes, and given toxic injections that destroy the central nervous system. As a result, Zhou Yongbing developed mental disorders.
Mr. Zhou was sent home to Yueyang City by the director of the forced labor camp on October 19, 2006. Zhou Yongbing could then read Falun Dafa books and do the exercises under the care of his family. He has now totally recovered. His story again details the wonders of Falun Dafa.
We ask that all local practitioners help Ms. Liu Dan and her relatives.
