Ms. Zhou Lianzhang, a 74-year-old retired worker, lived on Datang Street in Guangzhou City. At around 4:30 p.m. on October 31, 2007, several people including neighborhood committee head Wen, local police officer Zhang and four or five people from Yuexiu District Police Department, agents from the district 610 Office and also from the Datang Street Committee and others broke down the door and handcuffed Ms. Zhou. They ransacked boxes and chests, willfully causing damage to things and making a mess. According to incomplete figures, they confiscated Ms. Zhou's treasured Falun Gong books, more than two thousand yuan cash, and some gold jewelery. These items were worth of ten thousand yuan, and the invaders did not issue a list of items they took away. When her relatives reported the stolen property to the police and asked for the items' return, the police station clerk denied what had happened and berated the relatives, calling them liars. Zhou Lianzhang and the family members are trying to resolve this matter through legal channels so as to bring to justice those who are responsible for this act and reclaim the valuable property.
