A Solemn Declaration
Because I failed to hold myself to a strict standard, I was attached to doing things and started counting the number of people I clarified the truth to. As a result, I was reported to the police while I was clarifying the truth. I was unlawfully arrested and tortured. Due to my attachment to my family, I feared that my family would be devastated if I should be sentenced to prison. Therefore, I guaranteed in writing not to practice Falun Gong any longer. I also wrote things disrespectful of Teacher and the Fa. I also betrayed fellow practitioners when I told the police their names. I have let down Teacher, Falun Gong and my fellow practitioners. I solemnly declare that I nullify everything I have said, written and done that is in violation of Falun Gong's teaching. From now on, I shall make up for the losses I have caused to the Fa. I shall govern myself with strictest standards, do well the three things required by Teacher, and cultivate under the tutelage of Falun Gong until the end.

A Solemn Declaration
I started practicing Falun Gong in June 1999. In October 2000 I was distributing truth-clarification materials when the police unlawfully arrested me upon receiving a tip. I was unlawfully sentenced to prison for three years where I suffered torture. In June 2004 I was unlawfully arrested again when I was distributing truth-clarification materials. I was unlawfully sentenced to another three years in prison. During these two incarcerations, the prison guards would stop at nothing to force me to renounce Falun Gong. At one point I was locked up in a dark room alone for as long as one month where I was handcuffed, deprived of sleep and forced to watch video programs slandering Falun Gong day and night. I knew very well that Falun Gong is good and Teacher is good, but fear drove me to renounce Falun Gong in writing. I do solemnly declare that all the words and actions I have made against my will due to the evil police's high pressure to be null and void. I shall start my cultivation practice again, catch up with the Fa-rectification, do the three things well, and closely follow Teacher during His Fa-rectification.
