(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Wei Mingzhen and Ms. Xiao Shusheng from Huludao City, Liaoning Province were each sentenced to three years in prison. They were taken to the Shengyang City Prison before dawn on Thursday, November 8, 2007.

On the morning of May 22, 2007, police from Shaguotun Station arrested Ms. Wei and Ms. Xiao while they were passing out truth-clarification materials in the market in Shaguotun Township. Police officer Cui Yue and others interrogated them. Ms. Wei and Ms. Xiao refused to disclose the source of the truth-clarification materials. They were beaten by the police until their faces were severely bruised and swollen. The police then imprisoned them in the Xingcheng Detention Center that night and went out to ransack Ms. Wei and Ms. Xiao's homes,. The police ordered prisoners to torture Ms. Wei and Ms. Xiao and denied their family any visitation during their five-and-a-half-month detention.
The Shaguotun Police and Nanpiao District Procuratorate tried the practitioners in court several times. The two practitioners pleaded not guilty each time. On September 7, 2007, the Nanpiao District Court violated legal procedures by not disclosing the court date to their families or the public, and then sentenced Ms. Wei and Ms. Xiao each to a three-year prison term.
Ms. Wei Mingzhen and Ms. Xiao Shusheng appealed to a higher court right after they heard the verdict. On October 8, 2007, the Huludao City Middle Court denied their appeal without a hearing.
On November 8, 2007, before dawn, Ms. Wei Mingzhen and Ms. Xiao Shusheng were taken to Liaoning Province Women's Prison for simply telling people that "Falun Dafa is good" and "Keep safe by quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations."
