(Clearwisdom.net) Keelung City held a Flag Ceremony at 6:30 a.m. on New Year's Day of 2007, with the theme, "Welcome New Year, Welcome New Spring." During the ceremony, Falun Dafa practitioners displayed the beauty of Dafa to all attendees.
Falun Dafa practitioners display the beauty of Dafa before and after the Flag Ceremony on New Year's Day 2007
The ceremony was held on Culture Center Square in Keelung City, which happens to be a daily group practice site for local Falun Dafa practitioners. To help promote Dafa, many practitioners from other practice sites in Keelung also came as early as 4:50 a.m. to join the group practice. Before the flag ceremony, many residents had arrived at the square and saw a lot of practitioners doing the meditation. It was a peaceful scene: on one side the practitioners were meditating and on the other side the people were waiting for the ceremony quietly.
When the flag ceremony started, practitioners stopped exercising and joined in. They raised their banners high to let the people see. While some practitioners were distributing fliers, one man asked why the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was persecuting Falun Gong. A practitioner said the CCP uses "lies, violence and killing" to maintain its rule and could not tolerate millions of Falun Gong practitioners believing in "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance". The man said he understood. Another citizen said it was for no reason that the CCP persecuted Falun Gong, while over 80 countries welcome it. A man named Ye said to a practitioner, "You can practice in such a noisy place every day and remain peaceful and quiet, so this must be a very good exercise." He asked for five fliers and said he would give them to his family members to introduce them to the exercises.
After the ceremony, the practitioners continued their exercises.
As the Mayor of Keelung, Shu Caili, said in the New Year's greetings, the year 2007 is a year full of hope and expectations. Falun Dafa will bring people hope and prosperity. We hope that more Keelung residents will obtain the Fa in 2007 and that more government officials who represent the general public will step forward to condemn the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong.
