(Clearwisdom.net) In 2001, I received a five-year sentence because of my practice of Falun Dafa, and I was detained in Hauzi Jail in Liaoyang City. At the end of March 2006, I was among 21 steadfast Dafa disciples whom the guards summoned to a meeting. I questioned the director on the spot, "I have heard that when we are released, the prison authority is responsible for sending us back to our local communities. Is this true?" He answered, "This jail is required to transfer custody of Falun Gong practitioners to their local police stations." I continued, " We are detained here illegally. Even after you release us, you will still be keeping us in another form of custody. This is a continuation of the persecution and a violation of our human rights." The director had no reply.
After the meeting, I told my fellow practitioners, "This situation is going to stop with me. I absolutely deny the evil arrangement of the old forces and will never cooperate. I will not return home under guard." Up until this time, jail personnel had escorted all released practitioners back to their home communities.
About a month later, one of the guards said to me, "You will be released soon. Write a summary statement to show how you have 'reformed' during the last five years. We need that." I responded firmly, "No, I will not do that." He looked very disappointed as he walked away.
On the morning of May 19, I changed my clothes and told the guard I would say goodbye to my fellow practitioners. He said he would not permit it. I ignored him and went to their cells to bid them farewell. Another guard came toward me with a document. I thought to myself that I would not sign anything. As I was thinking this, the guard walked past me to the guard who was supposed to send me home and asked him to sign the document. He reluctantly signed it and placed his thumbprint on it.
As soon as I walked out the jail door, I shouted loudly, "I am free now!" The military police and guards were all startled. The guard who was supposed to escort me home said, "Wait a while. We will take you home in our car." I responded, "I do not need to do that. You detained me illegally for five years. I will never sit in your car. If you force me, you would be breaking the law under the guise of enforcing the law and violating human rights." I was determined not to cooperate with the evil arrangement.
While sending forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil, I told the guard kindly, "I will take the bus home." After my wife and I got on the bus, the guard's vehicle followed us all the way to the long-distance bus station.
We then transferred to the bus to Shengyang City. The guard asked my wife to sign a document to acknowledge that she had picked me up. After I arrived home, I found out that once local practitioners had learned of my release date, they sent forth righteous thoughts as one body to help me return home.
