Students Sign the Petition Calling for an End to the Persecution
On the afternoon of August 21st, 2006, a group of young people came to our Falun Gong information table on Muehleplatz and signed our petition one after another, appealing against the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong. Two students had come to our table in the morning. They were very much shocked when they saw the pictures and read the corresponding descriptions about the CCPs brutal persecution of Falun Gong over the past seven years. Furthermore, investigation from multiple sources indicate that the CCP is conducting massive organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners, and then cremating the remains to destroy the evidence of the crimes. Having understood this, the students signed the petition immediately to appeal for an end to the persecution and to rescue illegally imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners. Before leaving, they took some leaflets to give to their parents to read. In the afternoon, they brought a whole class of their schoolmates to sign their names to the petition.
Soon after the young people left, a practitioner noticed that there were still a few students who stayed behind. They had put the leaflets aside and seemed uninterested. A practitioner named Ursula went over to them and asked if they had been taught about human rights, and told them that the facts in the leaflets are about human rights violations happening in China. She explained about the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, including organ harvesting from living practitioners. Ursula also told them that another class of students had just signed the petition. These students expressions changed from being unconcerned at first to showing understanding and concern. Finally, each of them signed the petition to support Falun Gong practitioners.
From the childrens change of attitude, a practitioner felt that it is not that people are not willing to give a hand to stop the persecution. Most people are very kind; they simply do not know the truth about the persecution. This is the reason why Falun Gong practitioners hold activities frequently to help more people deeply understand the truth about Falun Gong and have them help to stop this bloody persecution.
Not only these students, many passers-by stopped to carefully read the information on our display boards. After they accepted the leaflets and listened to practitioners brief explanation of the illegal organ harvesting, some of them signed the petition immediately to show their support.
"Thank you for telling me all these facts"
One woman was not willing to accept the leaflets at the beginning. The practitioners told her that in China, innocent people are being imprisoned, tortured to death, and even having their organs harvested when they are still alive. It is to stop such crimes that we step forward to expose the truth and collect signatures. The woman was eventually moved and wanted to know more. Having carefully read our information boards, and after a long conversation with a practitioner, she signed her name and also said to the practitioner, "Thank you for telling me all these facts."
"The Chinese communist party does not allow people to have their own thoughts"
An elderly gentleman stayed in front of our display boards and read them for a long time. Then he asked what Falun Gong is. Having been informed that Falun Gong practitioners are good people who strive to live according to the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," he nodded and said, "Actually all people should live in this way." After he fully understood the nature of the CCP, as well as the facts of the persecution, the elderly man said that he knew something about the Tiananmen Square massacre, and that he was aware that the CCP does not allow a person to have their own thoughts. Finally, he signed the petition.
"I think we cannot turn a blind eye to this"
A young girl named Tina, and her friends, signed the petition. When asked why they signed their names, Tina said, "This is one of the approaches for us to stop this persecution. The persecution has spread so widely, and it is operated by gangsters. I am not sure if it is useful, but I want to try [to stop the persecution]. You are working hard, its really good." She also wanted to say to the Chinese people: "I think we cannot turn a blind eye to this. This is very important. We have all seen what happened during World War II due to peoples silence towards the atrocities. I think it is important for us to take the initiative to stop this atrocity instead of blindly shying away from it."
