TUPELO - Anyone watching the news April 20 saw a Chinese reporter shouting at its leader, Hu Jintao, who was a guest of President Bush in Washington, D.C.
That reporter was shouting claims about organ removal from live patients in China.
Today, her supporters will be in Tupelo to explain her outburst.
Dr. Wenyi Wang shouted: "President Bush, stop him (President Hu) from persecuting Falun Gong," and, "President Bush, stop him from killing." She faces up to six months in federal prison on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Wang's supporters will be at a City Hall news conference from 2-3 p.m. The visit is part of a car tour of the Southeast, including stops in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas.
Wang is a medical doctor, mother of two, volunteer reporter and a Falun Gong practitioner. Others who practice the quasi-religious healing art were detained when China began a nationwide suppression of the group in 1999.
News report say three witnesses who recently escaped from China claimed that organs were "harvested" from detained live Falun Gong practitioners, which prompted Wang's plea. The "Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China" recently was formed to investigate the claims in labor camps, jails and hospitals.
Wang's supporters cite an increase in organ transplants since 1999 - when Falun Gong practitioners were first detained.
