(Clearwisdom.net) On March 16, Vancouver 24 Hours reported on Falun Gong practitioners' protest at the Vancouver Art Gallery calling attention to and protesting concentration camps for Falun Gong practitioners in China.
Vancouver 24 Hours reported that protesters were on the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery yesterday speaking out against alleged concentration camps for Falun Gong practitioners in China.
"A couple of days ago we learned that there is a secret concentration camp in China," said Ying Lee, Volunteer Co-ordinator with the Falun Dafa Association. "Hopefully the Canadian government will condemn such an act."
According to Lee, the concentration camp is using followers of the Falun Gong religion to harvest organs for Chinese hospitals.
"Some human rights organizations are investigating and the results prove that this information is true," Lee said.
Carvelle Macdonell is a teacher and mother who joined the protesters after researching the Chinese government's policies.
"I am just here in solidarity trying to understand more about my place as a Canadian and how this affects me," Macdonell said. "As long as my government continues trading with China I think we are telling the Chinese that it is OK to persecute."
