(Clearwisdom.net, July 29, 2005) RFA reported on July 28 that dozens of Hong Kong residents gathered in Chater Garden on Wednesday's afternoon and protested the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s unlawful arrest of Falun Gong practitioners. The residents include Falun Gong practitioners and Hong Kong Legislative Council Member Szeto Wah. They held banners and marched to China's Liaison Office. They read a protest letter to request the CCP to stop the persecution of Falun Gong and release the imprisoned practitioners.
Ms. Liang Zhen is a Hong Kong reporter for US NTDTV [New Tang Dynasty TV]. Her mother and brother were detained by police in Luzhou, Sichuan Province. Ms. Liang said that her mother had practiced Falun Gong for ten years and her brother also practiced for many years. They did not have any trouble before then. During the past two years, her family members sensed being monitored.
Ms. Liang said, "At 9 a.m. on July 19, I had phone conversation with them. Police were searching in my mother's home and took my mother away later. My brother was taken away from the computer shop he worked in. Police searched for information in my brother's computer. My family members have been under surveillance. Some friends said police wanted to arrest my family members two years ago."
Ms. Liang said that because of her work in NTDTV, she had not visited her family in Sichuan for two years. She called them now and then and talked about her work sometimes. She said, "Due to inconvenience to return home, I often talked to them over phone. Sometimes, we talked about my work on the TV station. If police monitored them during the last two years, my conversation with my mom was eavesdropped."
Based on a Falun Gong information site, there were still three Hong Kong residents being imprisoned by the CCP for practicing Falun Gong. Four family members of Hong Kong residents are imprisoned on the mainland, including Ms. Liang's mother and brother.
