Facts of the Persecution

1. Practitioner Ms. Shao Shuwen from Tianjin City Is Sentenced to Two Years in Prison

Because Ms. Shao Shuwen is a widow, her family is dependent on her meager salary to survive. The first time she was sentenced to forced labor, a policeman deceived her while she was cooking a meal at home. She was sent to the detention center and immediately transferred to a labor camp. Her employer stopped paying her salary and her daughter, who was a high school student, had to go live at the school. She survived with help from friends and relatives. Ms. Shao was arrested a second time from her home in mid-April 2004. After school her daughter arrived home to find it ransacked and her mother missing. She had to stay at her neighbor's house. While in detention, Ms. Shao went on a hunger strike to protest her illegal abduction and was brutally force-fed, resulting in severe stomach bleeding, which endangered her life. She was detained until December 2004 and then sentenced to two years in prison. She is now incarcerated in the Tianjin Prison.
