(Clearwisdom.net) I always regard calling people to talk about the persecution of Falun Gong as an important part of clarifying the truth. I think practitioners should focus on making such calls. Many of the practitioners who were arrested have suffered through cruel tortures. Some became paralyzed from the beatings, and some were beaten to death. Teacher said,
"It is a xinxing issue if you do not help stop a murder or arson when you see it." (Zhuan Falun).
Besides, They are our fellow Dafa practitioners.
The practitioners arrested are those who step out to clarify the truth publicly. When they are arrested, many sentient beings are deprived of the opportunity to be saved. It is a tremendous loss and shouldn't be ignored from the angle of urgency or importance. The police, 610 Office, and forced labor camps are controlled by the evil. They directly participate in the persecution and are among the people to whom we need to clarify the truth in order to stop them from continuing to do evil acts. Doing this will reduce the pressure and danger for our fellow practitioners. Teacher said,
"Everything Dafa disciples are doing at present is to save the world's people and all beings, to expose the persecution, and to put an end to the persecution. So you cannot accept any of the evil's persecutory acts, and even less should you allow the evil to do whatever it wants persecuting Dafa disciples."
("Stop the Evil Acts with Righteous Thoughts")
Recently, Ms. Gao Rongrong was again unlawfully arrested. She is one of the many cases of persecution and the numbers continue to increase. According to the Minghui website, there are approximately 24 more practitioners persecuted every day. This is occurring because the evildoers are panicked and struggling in the aftermath of "The Epoch Times" publishing the Nine Commentaries on the Chinese Communist Party. It may also be due to our omission as a whole.
For the last two years, Dafa practitioners have risked their lives to collect and send details about many cases of persecution overseas to expose the scale of the evil events. Over 30,000 cases of persecution have been collected. Two years ago, I joined the phone team and 5,000 cases were known at that time. The number of cases has increased several-fold since then, but the number of people making phone calls has decreased. Thus, we have been unable to create a force. Also, I feel that practitioners have read about too many persecution cases and have become insensitive. Consequently they do not act quickly or take action like they used to. In addition, many practitioners are unable to break through the mental blockages. They consider making phone calls to be a forbidden zone and are unwilling or too scared to do it. In Taiwan, there are still not enough people making calls on a regular basis. In contrast with the tens of thousand of cases of persecution, our efforts are not enough to create a united force.
The mental block I mentioned earlier is mainly caused by fear. Without eliminating fear, we cannot use the best weapon, the phone, to deal with the public security forces in China, even though the phone is convenient and can be used to suppress the evil. Because of fear, it is hard to combine our combating power. Let us review what Teacher said in "Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Midwest-U.S. Fa Conference:"
"Never mind that the evil beings are so rampant, they're all quaking with fear and trepidation, they're afraid. Of course, before being completely cleaned out the wicked beings will still direct evil people to do bad things. The evil people lose all rationality when they're being controlled by the evil, but once they calm down they're afraid. Every phone call from our students shocks them to the point that they can't sleep at night, they're that afraid." (Official translation)
As Teacher said, our every phone call can have a shocking effect, so why such leisurely steps? If one or two people feel afraid, it is nothing; but if many of us feel afraid, isn't that an omission as a whole? I feel everyone should think about this.
I feel that when we make phone calls to the public security offices and the forced labor camps, whether the effect is good or not. As a whole, effectiveness does not depend on how well some people can talk, but it depends on increased numbers of practitioners being willing to pick up the phone and make calls with continuous righteous thoughts. If practitioners outside of Mainland China can spare some time, even making one call a day for 30 seconds is significant. If one really 'doesn't have the time, making one call every 2 or 3 days, or even once a week is fine.
We need everyone to participate as one body to be able to achieve what Teacher said in Surround and Exterminate (Hongyin),
"Dafa disciples speak the truth;
the Fa-power of righteous thoughts destroys demon caves"
and causes
"rotten ghosts to tremble at their core."
I think we only need to get rid of our everyday people's mindsets and pick up the phone. It is not like climbing a mountain or being exposed to sun or rain. We can deal with these rotten ghosts from our homes -- with sharp swords shooting forth from our mouths. Is there anything more powerful?
Some fellow practitioners felt they didn't do well because the other party hung up on them, and they felt frustrated. Thus, they were unwilling to continue making calls. We need to call even if you only have the chance to speak one word, or just say their names. Our words still carry power, even if the other party hangs up. When many people call, it will have a positive effect. Sometimes, when they hear that the call is from overseas, they immediately hang up the phone; or when they know it is an overseas call, they 'won't answer the phone. Even when that is the case, the call has still created its effect, because hanging up was a manifestation of the listener's fear. We thus shouldn't feel frustrated or belittle our own power. Think about it everyone, if fifty or a hundred of us made calls ten times each day, can it be as powerful as ten thousand people making one call each day? If a police station had made an illegal arrest and received several dozen phone calls, would we need to say much? When a labor camp has beaten or killed a practitioner, and suddenly many calls are received, they'd feel they had done bad things and were being watched all the time and that they can't' hide. They would be afraid. I hope that fellow practitioners think carefully about this.
Not long ago, a political commentator said during a TV forum that he often publicly criticized the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), however, he still frequently received invitations to visit China. People in the audience asked him what he would do if he were arrested. He replied: "You all should call the CCP every day demanding my release and stirring up trouble for them. Even if they do not set me free, they'll treat me more humanely. Otherwise, I might die in a dark jail." I mention this dialogue to provide a reference for our fellow practitioners.
What follows are some examples of the fear shown by the perpetrators of the injustices. Once I called a public security officer who regularly arrested Dafa practitioners. In the middle of the phone call, the officer was so nervous that he dropped the phone. When I called back, he even apologized to me. After hearing the truth, a warden said that he wouldn't persecute Falun Gong practitioners any more. Another warden, with the last name of Lee, denied his name was Lee in the middle of our conversation and said that his name was Zhang -- he changed his name in less than a minute. Some people even changed their phone to the "Receive fax" setting after they hang up so I can't get through. Some made their phones stop working or even unplugged their phones. Once, the other party said I had dialed a wrong number. When I double-checked the number with him, he said the number was correct, but a restaurant now used it'. I asked him when the change occurred, and he said six months ago. Knowing that he was with public security, I asked him for the name of the restaurant. But he could not answer me and said it didn't have a name yet. I didn't point out his lie. He listened to my clarifying the truth until I was finished.
Several days ago, when I called a person at a 610 Office, he lied and said it was a funeral home. After hearing me say that the persecution of Falun Gong is committing genocide, he asked if the persecutors would be sentenced to death. He said that if that were the case, then his funeral home would be prosperous. I told him about the Heavenly Law that states, "good is rewarded and evil receives retribution" and that one day his actions will be judged.
Those who shouted curses at you and didn't let you talk usually did so because they had guilty consciences. From my experience in phone calling, I feel this is the case. Therefore, we really shouldn't be frightened, nor feel frustrated when the other party hangs up the phone. We will achieve the intended result if we keep calling and are sincerely concerned about their welfare. Many of those involved in the persecution cases have made unlawful arrests, or have beaten up or even murdered practitioners. If we can't save them, at least we can help to restrain their actions.
Therefore, when they hang up the phone, I call back and change the subject. For example, if they hung up after hearing the words "Falun Gong" I call back and tell them that the Tiananmen Square self-immolation was fake and the persecution of Falun Gong is an illegal act against the Law of Heaven and retribution will occur for every injustice. I say that I saw their names on the "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" (WOIPFG) website or that the persecution of Falun Gong is a crime of genocide and remind them that their retribution for persecuting Falun Gong would become the evidence of their crimes tomorrow, and that Falun Gong will eventually obtain redress. Thus, they become willing to listen to what I am saying. Even if they 'don't listen, at least they hear three sentences of truth when I call them three times.
After the publication of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, I had an added weapon for clarifying the truth. Depending on the situation, I often act like a third party when discussing the Nine Commentaries. I usually start with the topic of the suppression of Falun Gong and the persecution that has lasted for six years. I go on to say that although we don't live in China, we have heard about how Falun Gong practitioners are being persecuted to death, or beaten and left paralyzed, or the face of a practitioner has been scarred by burns caused by electric shocks, as revealed in the pictures we have received. The persecution is known internationally, been rebuked by most societies, and has badly damaged China's reputation. I then describe some incidents, such as public security personnel gunning down farmers in Hunyuan, Sichuan Province, and Zhao Ziyang being under house arrest. After talking about Falun Gong as a human rights issue, I then return to the facts about Falun Dafa laws and principles. For example, I would ask them whether they had seen the movie "False Fire," or heard that Jiang Zemin is being sued in many countries. As I chat about such news, I mention the Nine Commentaries. Overall, the result is very good. Sometimes, when I talk about the solemn declarations from practitioners voiding any renunciations they made while being tortured, comments about the Nine Commentaries, and the unprecedented wave of resignations from the CCP and its affiliated organizations, they will write down the frequency of the Sound of Hope radio station and the address of the auto reply mailbox.
Moreover, clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa helps make the listener want to read the Nine Commentaries. For example, an officer in the Political and Security section said, "When Falun Gong practitioners besieged Zhongnanhai, why shouldn't we arrest them?" He asked me whether the incident had been reported outside of China. After clarifying the truth to him, I felt I had cleaned some poison from his mind. He said that he had a copy of the Nine Commentaries but hadn't read it yet. I continued to describe the situation after the publication of Nine Commentaries. I am sure he will read the book now. I also talked to a policewoman, who indicated that she had a copy of the Nine Commentaries but hadn't read them yet. After clarifying the truth to her, she said that she would definitely read them. My understanding is that as we let people know about the Nine Commentaries, we shouldn't neglect the importance of clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa. They complement each other. Of course, sometimes it is better to talk about the issues separately.
Our minds shouldn't be moved when people curse at us or hang up on us. However, when our fellow practitioners are unlawfully arrested and persecuted, we shouldn't ignore it, especially because so many illegal arrests have happened since 1999. We should do our best to eradicate the evil. A fellow practitioner has written a 30-second script for the phone calls as a reference for others to use. We can start making phone calls using the 30-second script. I want to remind everyone that once you lift the receiver, every phone call carries power.
Finally, I would like to quote Teacher' to encourage fellow practitioners:
"With Forbearance, one can give up everything for Truth. But Forbearance does not mean tolerating evil beings--that no longer have human nature or righteous thoughts--defying both human and divine laws as they corrupt sentient beings and Dafa's existence at different levels, much less is it ignoring terrible crimes. Zhen, Shan, Ren is the Fa! And it is the manifestation of the Great Fa of the cosmos at different levels. It is absolutely not some human theory or guiding principle for ordinary human living, as human beings take it to be. If the evil has already reached the point where it is unsaveable and unkeepable, then various measures at different levels can be used to stop it and eradicate it."
