(Clearwisdom.net) On May 21 2005, Falun Dafa practitioners from San Diego and Los Angeles participated in the "Play Days Parade" in the city of Monterey Park to celebrate the town's 89th birthday. Monterey Park is the only city in California with an ethnic Chinese population of over half of the entire city population. It is often called "Little Taipei." Though southern California was hit by a heat wave, and the temperature was above 90 degrees Fahrenheit, the festive spirit of the parade was as high as the temperature. The parade lasted over two hours.
This was the second time for Falun Gong practitioners to participate in this traditional celebration. Practitioners from San Diego drove two hours to Monterey Park to help the local practitioners. The Falun Gong procession included a waist drum troupe, a Celestial Maidens dance ensemble, a beautifully decorated float and Falun Gong exercise demonstrations. The practitioners brought a lot of bright color to the parade.
