Facts of the Persecution

1. Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Yang Xiuming Sentenced to Seven Years Imprisonment

On November 1, 1999, Dafa practitioner Mr. Yang Xiuming was abducted from the Civil Administration Bureau and taken to the police station where he was held for fifteen days by Wu Zukun from the Xinhuang County National Security Bureau in Hunan Province and Yao Benyou, the Xinhuang County Party Committee Deputy Secretary.

On December 22, 1999, Mr. Yang and eighteen other practitioners went to Beijing to appeal to the higher authorities for justice for Falun Gong and were arrested and taken to the detention center. The police hung a black sign on Mr. Yang's neck and paraded him out on the streets to humiliate him. Then they held him on the stage of the Xinhuang County Theater where they publicly insulted him.

On February 4, 2000, Mr. Yang and thirteen other practitioners practiced the Falun Gong exercises in Zhongshan Square. They were arrested by more than ten policemen and taken to the Public Security Bureau. Mr. Yang was handcuffed by police Wu Zukun and taken to a detention center where he was held for more than two months. After that, he was taken to the Changsha City Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Hunan Province to serve a one-year sentence.

On August 4, 2003, Mr. Yang hung up truth clarification banners in Dalong Town in Guizhou Province. Later, he was abducted again from the Civil Administration Bureau and taken to the Yuping County Detention Center, where he was tortured by methods such as being forced to wear heavy handcuffs, stand facing the wall, not allowed to sleep or drink water, and other tortures. After being illegally detained for more than 15 months, Yang Xiuming was sentenced to seven years in prison.

On November 18, 2004, Mr. Wu was transferred to the Duyun Prison in Guizhou Province.

On January 25, 2005, the Xinhuang County Government fired Mr. Wu from his company.

2. Police from the 610 Office of Donge County Commit Crimes Again

On March 7, 2005, several policemen from the 610 Office of Donge County, led by You Lingsi, broke into practitioner Mr. Lei Yudong's home located at the Xiguan Brigade and searched it illegally. They arrested Mr. Lei and brought him to the detention center. Mr. Lei is currently being held and persecuted in the labor camp. His family members have asked the authorities to release him. Instead, the police detained one of his family members for fifteen days also. Therefore, the authorities have violated the freedom of belief guaranteed by the Chinese Constitution and also committed the crime of illegal detention according to Articles 238 and 245 of the Criminal Law.

3. Practitioner Ms. Li Xia from Nanyang, Henan Province, Wrote a Letter in the Camp to Tell her Experience of Being Persecuted

Practitioner Ms. Li Xia is from Nanyang, Henan Province. The police frequently ransacked her home. She has been illegally detained many times and sentenced to forced labor twice. Ms. Li has been cruelly tortured just for persisting in her belief in cultivation practice in Falun Dafa. On February 15, 2004, Ms. Li was arrested and sentenced to four years. At present, Li Xia is being imprisoned in the Xinxiang Women's Forced Labor Camp where she has been tortured so severely that she is now paralyzed and cannot take care of herself.
