Tang Hanglin, Surviving Son of Practitioner Mr. Tang Jianping from Weiyuan County, Sichuan Province, Lives in Hardship

Tang Hanglin is enrolled at the Xijie Elementary School in Weiyuan County. He is being raised by his paternal grandfather and grandmother, both of whom have long been laid off from their jobs. They are having a hard time making a living and rely on the support of relatives, friends and Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Tang Jianping's wife, Ms. Wang Huaying, was forced into a divorce by the local police. In addition, she has been dismissed from her job and is not able to raise her son.
Mr. Tang Jianping was an employee of the Tianfu Brick Factory in Weiyuan County. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1995. After the suppression started on July 20, 1999, Mr. Tang was taken into custody six times. While he was in custody, the police instigated over a dozen inmates to beat him until he passed out. He was then doused with cold water until he regained consciousness. The inmates inserted a toothbrush into his rectum and rotated it until he started bleeding. They held him on the ground and pulled out all his pubic hair, and struck him between his eyebrows continuously with the middle finger until a blood blister formed. He was also forced to eat food and cigarette butts off the ground. Mr. Tang suffered extreme mental and physical abuse. His internal organs, including lungs, intestines, stomach, suffered severe damage, and there was serious internal bleeding. He was denied medical treatment and sent to the Mianyang Forced Labor Camp for further torture. In the labor camp, Mr. Tang's internal injuries worsened. His chest and lower abdomen became swollen and he could not walk, eat or drink. The labor camp authorities notified his family and allowed them to take him home only when he started to vomit blood and have bloody urine and stools frequently. His family borrowed money from all available sources to pay for his medical treatment, to no avail. Mr. Tang Jianping died on August 28, 2002 while vomitting blood. He was only 29 years old.

Falun Gong Practitioner Hu Yongfeng from Xiangtan University in Hunan Province Dies Unjustly Due to the Persecution
Mr. Hu Yongfeng, 69, was a Hunan Cili County resident and a retired staff member from Xiangtan University. He started Falun Gong practice in 1996. In June 2000, he traveled to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. He was illegally arrested and charged with "disruption of social order," and was confined at the local Jing Tangwan Detention Center for 15 days. After his release, the school department's 610 Office personnel placed him under house arrest. He was forced to undergo several brainwashing sessions conducted by the university.
Sometime around December 26, 2000, Hu Yongfeng was abducted by the Xiangtan University Security Police while he was walking along the street. He was taken to the newly opened Changsha re-education center, where he was confined and forced to undergo re-education through hard labor. He was stripped of his party membership, and his retirement pension was suspended without any just cause.
A year later in 2002, after his release from the labor camp, the 610 Office officials at the school continually harassed and intimidated Mr. Hu, this time extending the harassment to include his wife, who is also a Falun Gong practitioner.
In late November 2004, Hu Yongfeng traveled to Changsha to visit his daughter. Within weeks of his visit, the family started receiving harassing phone calls from the 610 Office officials. The intimidation and harassment occurred several times per day, and severely disrupted and interfered with the family's life. Under this intimidation and pressure, the couple felt there was no choice but to hurriedly leave Changsha and return to Xiangtan University on December 13, 2004, to inquire as to why the 610 Office was doing this. Hu Yongfeng died suddenly on the second day of their return at around noon.
Other Falun Gong practitioners from Xiangtan University who were also persecuted include:
Service Sector Accountant Lu Xiqiong, retired teacher Qin Sanfung from the high school affiliated with the Xiangtan University, retired Professor Zhou Chuanhui, and Tang Zhaomei. In September 2001, the school security officer and the municipal public security bureau police plotted to use the case of Professor Tang Zhaomei as an opportune case to "render meritorious service to win a promotion." Since they could not find anything improper to build the case with, they arranged an agent to plant some false evidence inside Professor Tang's home. Within minutes, the police broke into Professor Tang's house and arrested him. He was abducted and illegally imprisoned for one month at the Triangle Ground lock-up center.
Professor Zhou Chuanhui was forcibly abducted twice from his residence and detained at the detention center. The police broke into his home three times, illegally conducted searches, and confiscated his personal property, including over 10,000 yuan in cash. He was illegally stripped of his salary for nearly 18 months.

Five Falun Gong Practitioners from Henan, Heilongjiang, Liaoning and Hunan Provinces Died as a Result of Persecution
2. Mr. Wang Zhenshan was a 50-year old resident of Qingle Village, Xinxingmanzu Town, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. He began to practice Falun Gong in 1996. He was firm in his practice and therefore enjoyed good health. Since July 20, 1999, the persecutors came to his home frequently and harassed him. They searched for Falun Gong books and Teacher's pictures throughout his home. This persecution was too much for Mr. Wang and he became sick to the point of being bedridden. One year later, he went to Beijing to appeal in 2002, despite his physical condition. After he safely returned, members of the village and town 610 Office harassed him many times. As a result, his health condition worsened and Mr. Wang died in December of 2003.
3. Ms. Yang Gaoshi was a 93-year-old resident of Qingle Village, Xinxingmanzu Town, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. In 1996, she began to practice Falun Gong. Her son, grandson and granddaughter-in-law also practice Falun Gong. After the persecution started, her son and granddaughter-in-law were arrested twice and severely tortured. The elderly lady went to the brainwashing center to ask the persecutors to release her son and granddaughter-in-law. Members of the local 610 Office manhandled her and dragged her out of the brainwashing center. Ms. Yang was injured by this brutal treatment and she became bedridden. In December 8, 2002, Ms. Yang died.
4. Mr. Qi Guorong was an 81-year old resident of Xiaoqijia Village, Xiaoqijia Town, Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province. His entire family practiced Falun Gong. After July 20, 1999, the persecutors broke into and ransacked his home repeatedly. They also arrested, harassed, and abused the entire family. In late 2001, two of his sons and one daughter in law were arrested at home and sentenced to 18 months of forced labor. The elderly man was deeply affected by the suffering of his family and by being separated from his sons. He suffered many hardships as a result of their being away. As a result, Mr. Qi died in April of 2002 due to the prolonged harassment and mental torture.
5. Ms. Zhou Changli was 52 years old. She was a retired worker from the No. 2 Textile Machinery Factory in Changde City, Hunan Province. After she began to practice Falun Gong in 1997, her kidney condition, a hereditary disease that many of her family members suffered, disappeared and she enjoyed good health. On October 25, 2000, after Jiang's regime began to persecute Falun Gong, Ms. Zhou went to Beijing to clarify the truth. The police arrested her on Tiananmen Square and took her to a nearby police station. The persecutors transferred her to the Shunyi Area Detention Center and the Liaison Office of Hunan Province in Beijing. Then, the security section head from the No. 2 Textile Machinery Factory and some policemen from Deshan District Police Station took her to the Taohuaxian Detention Center in Hunan Province. During the unlawful interrogation, the police humiliated her using dirty language, and a tall policeman kicked her hard with his leather shoes. Inside the detention center, Ms. Zhou suffered from acute leg pain, yet she was still forced to plant vegetables on a farm daily. She suffered both mentally and physically.
Ms. Zhou was detained in the detention center for 15 days, and they extorted over 6,000 yuan from her. In May 2001, someone reported her to the police while she was watching a truth-clarifying CD. The police arrested her and detained her again in the Taohuaxian Detention Center. The security section head from the No. 2 Textile Machinery Factory came to the detention center many times, trying to brainwash her. The perpetrators also ordered Ms. Zhou's brother and sister (who live in Wuhan City, Hubei Province) to persuade her to give up her practice. Under pressure, Ms. Zhou copied the Three Statements prepared by the security section head.
After she was released, Ms. Zhou's husband and daughter prevented her from reading Falun Gong books and practicing the exercises, as they were also were pressured by their own work units. Her husband and daughter took away all of her Falun Gong books and truth-clarifying materials. A few months later, she went to see a doctor because of the acute pain in her legs. The medical exam showed that she suffered from late stage lung cancer. On October 22, 2001, Ms. Zhou Changli died as a direct result of the prolonged mental and physical torture she had endured.

Wuchang "610 Office" Personnel in Heilongjiang Province Extorted Several Hundred Thousand "Yuan" from 100 Illegally Arrested Falun Gong Practitioners
In 2004 I was arrested and detained at Wuchang City's 610 Office. Now, I am going to expose the 610 Office's brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
1. Wuchang City's 610 Office's key officials
The head of the "610 Office," Zhu Xianfu, is hypocritical and quite vicious behind a pleasant facade.
Fu Yanchun, the head of the brainwashing center, is a cruel person. He verbally and physically abuses, threatens and beats Falun Gong practitioners. It does not matter whether they are young or old, male or female.
Mo Zhenshan and Jing Ji (female) are Fu Yanchun's helpers and are heavily involved in arresting practitioners, searching their homes and persecuting practitioners.
2. Several methods employed to detain more practitioners
Making up a fake list of practitioners who went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong; arresting them at their workplaces or at their homes.
Conspiring with personnel at a practitioner's workplace to arrange for their arrest.
Deceiving practitioners' relatives to get their help in capturing the practitioners.
Having one who had gone astray from practice due to torture and brainwashing to trick the practitioner into meeting them for practice in order to frame the Falun Gong practitioner.
Transferring practitioners who just finished serving their terms and had been released from a labor camp or a detention center to a brainwashing center "to get re-educated" before allowing them to return home.
3. Forcing practitioners to give up their belief
Practitioners captured by personnel from the Wuchang "610 Office" were ordered to sign the so-called Three Statements. If they refused, Fu Yanchun commenced gross physical abuse, such as slapping them on their faces, kicking and punching them, cuffing their hands, forcing them to squat for extended time periods, or otherwise beating them with rubber tubes. He then forced them to submit their fingerprints on the statements. If they continued to refuse to give up their belief, the 610 officials would not let them sleep for a whole night and repeat the above-mentioned physical abuse. Some practitioners were beaten so badly that they were covered with bruises; some walked awkwardly; some could not get out of bed; some ended up in the hospital. Even when they did not have a complete recovery, the 610 Office still labeled them as not "reformed" and sent them back to face continued torture.
4. Mental Torment
Many practitioners signed the Three Statements because they could no longer tolerate the long term physical abuse; however, the even more cruel mental abuse had just begun. The "reformed" practitioners were separated from the others and monitored by the "610" personnel. They were forced to watch a video in the morning and read books in the afternoon. The video and the books contained fabrications, lies and slander against Falun Gong. After they watched and read, they would have to critique what they had "learned," write down their thoughts and periodically report to the "610" officials. For those who were unwilling to be reformed, this was a much more agonizing experience than the physical abuse, but they had to express the complete opposite of what they really believed in order to convince the officials that they were truly "reformed." Otherwise, they would be accused of being stubborn or unyielding, and not reformed. If that were the case, they would be put into anther cycle of brainwashing with additional mental torment.
5. Getting rich from the persecution
Wuchang's 610 Office personnel used various methods to detain more practitioners to reach their goal of extorting money. The officials' average monthly salary is about 1,000 Yuan, however, they would receive a monetary reward if they could make a practitioner give up his/her belief, and they took advantage of it. If a practitioner is sent the 610 Office for brainwashing, his workplace has to pay 2,000 Yuan per month for the practitioner's stay there. In order to obtain the highest profit, they would keep the practitioners there for a longer time so that they could extort more money. For those practitioners who were arrested from home, if the relatives could pay the "dues" of 3,000 or 4000 Yuan, then the practitioner would be released. For those who refused to give up their belief, the officials demanded more money for their release or simply detained them for a longer time. They also held the practitioners who were just released from a labor camp or a detention center at the office before they let them rejoin their families, so they could collect an additional "education fee."
Since the formation of Wuchang's 610 Office, more than one hundred practitioners have been illegally arrested. The amount of money collected is as high as several hundred thousand Yuan. The 610 Office head Zhu Xianfu was rehired and remained in the same position, even after his retirement. Fu Yanchun's relatives were quoted as saying, "Fu used to be very poor, but became rich after joining the '610 Office.' Thanks to his work there, he has managed to afford an apartment and a personal car."
I was released by the "610 Office" several months ago, but I continue to experience persecution. I had bad dreams for many days after I was released. I often heard Fu Yanchun's roaring voice as well as the voices of practitioners' suffering, but I also heard the loud and clear sound, "Falun Dafa is great!"

1. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhou Zhaoxiang Is Arrested
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Zhaoxiang is thirty-seven years old, and a resident of Worker's Village, Dongshan District, Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province. The police recently arrested him. No one knows of his whereabouts.
Mr. Zhou was sentenced to forced labor twice since the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999. His father works away from home, and his mother is paralyzed. His mother's condition requires constant care.

2. [Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zhou Dechang and Mr. Chai Dengyi Are Arrested and Imprisoned
Around August 2004, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zhou Dechang from Jinchuan County, Aba Prefecture and Mr. Chai Dengyi from Danba County, Ganzi Prefecture were reported when they were out clarifying the truth. Danba County Police arrested them. Mr. Zhou Dechang was sentenced to seven years in prison. Mr. Chai Dengyi's feet were severely injured from torture. As a result, he has not been sentenced to prison yet, and is currently detained in the Danba County Detention Center.
3. [Pulandian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Gu Yanqing Is Detained
In May 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gu Yanqing from Pulandian City, Liaoning Province was handing out truth clarifying materials in Zhongzhenggou Tun, Zhenggou Village, Chengzitan Town, Pulandian City. The village Party Secretary, Sun Yuquan (male) reported him and had police officer Wang Shuiyong (male) and Jiang Chunsheng (male) arrest Mr. Gu. He is now detained in Pulandian City Detention Center.

4. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. An Senbiao Is Arrested
At noon on January 24, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. An Senbiao went to Yuanshengli Police Substation to clarify the truth. He was arrested for handing out Dafa materials. Around 4 p.m. that day, police officer Liu Yanqing (male) and another police officer, Party Secretary E Jintai (male) from the Second Petroleum Collecting Plant and Deputy Secretary Wang Xizhong found Mr. An's house key while doing a body search. They ransacked his home in the presence of his wife. Mr. An is detained in Longfeng Detention Center.

5. [Jiaohe City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Guirong and Her Daughter Yang Tiemei Are Arrested
On January 21, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Li Guirong and her daughter Yang Tiemei from Dengchang Village, Chishui Township, Jiaohe City, Jilin Province were reported when they were distributing truth clarifying materials. They were arrested by police from Songjiang Town Substation in Jiaohe City. Ms. Yang Tiemei had previously been sentenced to one year of forced labor in 2002.
6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Xiuying Is Arrested
Recently, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Xiuying from Dalian City was posting truth-clarifying materials in Northeast Second Power Company of Dalian City. She was captured on a hidden camera and police from the local Lingshuiqiao Substation later arrested her.
7. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Lai Caijun Is Abducted
On November 24, 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lai Caijun, a teacher at Chaoyangjie Elementary School in Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province, was reported for clarifying the truth to her students. She was arrested by State Security Agent Fu Yanling (male) and police officer Chen Zhi. Ms. Lai is now detained in a detention center. The state security officials tried to sue her by filing a case against her in Lingyuan City Procuratorate.

At 2 p.m. on January 24, 2005, a Falun Gong practitioner was arrested for distributing truth clarifying materials in Sanjiazi Village, Wenxiang Town, Haicheng City, Liaoning Province. The practitioner is detained in Haicheng City Detention Center. This practitioner has not revealed his/her name.

9. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yu Shenghe and His Wife Ma Guizhen from Changyi City Are Arrested Again
Around midnight on January 17, 2005, police tried to arrest Mr. Yu Shenghe and his wife Ma Guizhen by pounding on their door. Around 6 or 7 a.m. the next morning, police officers Yang and Zhai Jiantao from Shifi Town got on a truck belonging to Mr. Yu's neighbor. He climbed over a wall in order to into get into Mr. Yu's house and then arrested the couple.
10. [Suizhou City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhu Haiding Is Arrested from Home
On January 8, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhu Haiding from Suizhou City, Hubei Province was arrested from his home by police from Rudong County, Jiangsu Province. Mr. Zhu was reported to the police after spreading the truth of Falun Dafa in Rudong County, Jiangsu Province.

Around the end of January 2005, Fucun Coal Mine (under Zibo City Mining Bureau) sent people to closely monitor three retired employees, Mr. Li Zhenfang, Mr. Zhang Mingfang, and Ms. Xiao Shanyun.

12. [Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province] Zhai Shanyong from Zaoyuan Town Is Sentenced to Eighteen Months of Forced Labor
On the evening of October 19, 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhai Shanyong was reported for distributing truth-clarifying materials in Baita Village, Zaoyuan Town, Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province. The local police arrested him and sentenced him to 18 months of forced labor. Mr. Zhai is now imprisoned in Wangcun Labor Camp in Shandong Province.

13. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Police from Guta District Arrest the Child of a Falun Gong practitioner
Around 9 a.m. on January 21, 2005, two police officers from Beijie Substation of Guta District, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province ransacked Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Hui's home. They took away her Falun Dafa books, Teacher Li's photo, and truth clarifying materials. Ms. Xu Hui's son was arrested as well, and is detained in Jinzhou City Detention Center.

14. [Chongqing City] Ms. Li Zhengfen and Ms. Xu Wenxiu Are Arrested
On December 25, 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Zhengfen (a post office employee in her 50s) and Ms. Xu Wenxiu (a Chongqing City department store employee in her 60s) were arrested by police when clarifying the truth in Jilong, Banan District. No one knows their current whereabouts.
15. [Wulian County, Shandong Province] Mr. Gao Xingfa Is Arrested
Around January 15, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gao Xingfa (in his 60s) from Quepo Village, Hongning Town, Wulian County, Shandong Province was arrested by police from Wulian County Station. He is detained in the County Detention Center.
