Persecution at Pingdu City 610 Office in Shandong Province

The notorious Pingdu City 610 Office in Shandong Province has changed its name to the Pingdu Appeal and Education Center.

At 9:00 a.m. on September 20, 2004, perpetrators Liu Wei, Lu Yongyan, Jiao Hengyu, and others from the Zhugou Town Police Station broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Yu Bojin and dragged him into a police car. His wife Wang Yunying asked the police to release her husband, but the perpetrators then also dragged her into the police car and took her to the Pingdu City Brainwashing Class.

The officials at the brainwashing class compelled Falun Gong practitioners to each sit on a narrow stool for 16 hours a day, while they beat and kicked them. Practitioner Wang Yunying clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the persecutors, so police officer Dai Yugang forced her to stand continuously for four days, during which time she was not allowed to eat or sleep. Her feet became severely swollen, and her legs and feet were completely numb. She often passed out from fatigue, hunger and thirst. On the fifth day, she was hung by her cuffed wrists from a metal bar for an entire day, with her feet barely touching the ground. Wang Yunying suffered a severe stomachache and felt swelling and heaviness in her stomach. Her vision became blurred, and the skin on her feet and legs cracked open.

Practitioner Sun Shengxia was handcuffed and forced to stand for seven days just because she clarified the truth, and during this time she was not allowed to eat or sleep. Practitioner Wang Yuefang, who is in her 60s, was forced to stand for two days, and subsequently at many other times, for clarifying the truth to collaborators. Practitioner Luan Yumei passed out on the floor after standing for a very long time, and officers Wang and Du beat and kicked her. Practitioners Jiang Tao and Zhang Zengyan were brutally tortured, and practitioners Zhang Yuemei and Wu Chunyi were forced to stand for extended periods of time. They were also force-fed and detained in solitary confinement.

Crimes of Zhang Yanwei, Principal of the Feicheng City Experimental Elementary School in Shandong Province

Zhang Yanwei is in his late 30s, and is the principal and party secretary of the Feicheng City Experimental Elementary School in Shandong Province. Since becoming the school principal in October 1999, he has used numerous methods to persecute Falun Gong and practitioners.

He took advantage of loopholes in a new re-hiring policy created during educational reform, in an attempt to expel or fire determined Falun Gong practitioners. He set up secret projects and made up excuses to reduce Falun Gong practitioners' salaries and bonuses.

The principal brainwashed faculty and staff members and nearly 1,000 students, and forced them to explicitly state their standpoint on the "Falun Gong issue." He ordered Falun Gong-slandering propaganda to be written on blackboards to poison people's minds. He also used a person's Falun Gong belief as the top criteria in the decision-making process for awards and promotions.

Zhang ordered the illegal detention and monitoring of Falun Gong practitioners, and personally cooperated with the local authorities in ransacking practitioners' homes. Practitioners were taken to brainwashing classes, detention centers, and forced labor camps. He threatened the practitioners and their families, harassed them, and interfered with their daily lives.
