1. [Shuang Cheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Elderly Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured to Death While in Detention
Police in Shuangcheng No. 2 Detention Center and Heilongjiang Women's Prison tortured to death Falun Gong practitioners who were being illegally detained. Mr. Zhang Shengfan, who had been disabled for many years, was tortured to death after three days of detention in Shuangcheng No. 2 Detention Center. Mr. Liu Jie died after nine days. Ms. Xiao Yali died after eight days. Ms. Gu Xiuxian died after six days and Mr. Wu Baowang died in less than a month.
During the National Day holiday in 2004, eight practitioners were arrested one after another, including Ms. Huang Yanzhen and Ms. Guo Fenglan, both of whom were over sixty years old. Without their family members being informed, Huang Yanzhen was unlawfully sentenced to seven years in prison and Guo Fenglanto to six years. Both of them have been secretly sent to Heilongjiang Women's Prison. Huang Yanzhen is presently being held by the Intensified Brainwashing Team of the prison. Because she is on a hunger strike, protesting against the detention, she is being locked in a small cell (1) and force-fed. Currently, the two practitioners' family members are filing a lawsuit against those who are directly involved in persecuting Huang Yanzhen and Guo Fenglan.
One of the officials directly involved in persecuting Huang Yanzhen and Guo Fenglan is Lu Jinghua, head of the Intensified Brainwashing Team in Heilongjiang Women's Prison.

2. [LiuZhou City, GuangXi Province] Many Falun Dafa Practitioners Have Been Arrested Since December 2004
Since early December 2004, officials from the 610 Office in Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province have arrested many Falun Dafa practitioners including Ms. Huang Qiuhong, Zhang Wuyou, Ms. Shi Shiqiong, Ms. Lou Zhirong and her sister. They were abducted from their homes. Some of them are being detained in the No. 1 Detention Center in Liuzhou City. Their family members are not allowed to visit them.

3. [Qingzhou City, Shandong Province] Police Illegally Arrest Falun Dafa Practitioners
During the evening of December 10, 2004, Ms. Zhao Guangye and Mr. Zhao Guangxing, both from Jiajia Village of Tanfang Township, Qingzhou City, were abducted by police from Dongxia Town Police Substation while clarifying the truth of Falun Dafa in Dongxia Town. They were then sent to Qingzhou City where they have been detained and subjected to torture.
On the evening of December 29, 2004, police from Qingzhou City abducted practitioner Mr. Zhao Hongsheng from Dazhao Village of Tanfang Town. They then went to Gongyin Village to arrest Ms. Zhang Ruiyun, who was not at home at the time. Subsequently, the police smashed in the door. They confiscated 4,000 yuan in cash and many copies of Falun Dafa literature.

4. [Dongwan City, Guangdong Province] Li Qiaosen Has Been Wrongfully Detained for More Than Nine Months
Mr. Li Qiaosen, 68 years old, was detained while mailing truth-clarification materials in Shilong of Dongwan City on March 19, 2004. The 610 Office and National Security Team in Dongwan City detained him in the No.2 Detention Center for more than nine months. Without informing his family members, they sentenced him to three years in prison. Currently, Mr. Li is being tortured in Sihui Prison in Guangdong Province.
5. [Wangqing City, Jilin Province] Shao Shuying Is Abducted
On December 23, 2004, four police broke into and searched Ms. Shao Shuying's home. After they were finished searching, they abducted Shao Shuying.

6. [Renqiu City, Hebei Province] Yu Xiuduo and Zhao Shuzhi Have Been Detained Since November 2004
In November 2004, Wang Gengcheng, director of the police substation in the Economical Technology Development District of Renqiu City, reported on two Falun Dafa practitioners who were distributing truth clarification materials. They are Ms. Yu Xiuduo and Ms. Zhao Shuzhi who have subsequently been detained in the Renhe Beiqiu Detention House. This case has been transferred to the city Procurator Institute.

7. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Sun Xiaoqiu Is Abducted
The 610 Office in Changchun City abducted Ms. Sun Xiaoqiu at work on the morning of January 6, 2005. She was sent to the Xinglongshan Brainwashing Class in Changchun City. Ms. Sun's parents are both in their seventies. Her father-in-law is in poor condition. One of her daughters is a university student.

8. [Qidong City, Hunan Province] Tan Bangyan Is Unlawfully Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison
Mr. Tan Bangyan has been detained three times for practicing Falun Gong. At around 10:00 p.m. on November 10, 2002, He Zhengrong, director of the Qidong Politics and Security Section, together with five police including Li Wei, came to Tan Bangyan's home. After they found several Falun Gong books and several dozen truth-clarifying flyers, they abducted Mr. Tan and secretly detained him in Ling Police Substation. Tan Bangyan was handcuffed and hung up (2) for seven days and nights. On November 18, 2002, he was taken to Qidong Detention Center. In April 2004, Qidong People's Court secretly held a hearing and sentenced Tan Bangyan to eight years in prison on false charges. Currently, Mr. Tan is being detained in Cendan Farm in Changde City.
9. [Lang Fang City, Hebei Province] Yuan Hengyang Is Abducted on a Train
On December 17, 2004, Mr. Yuan Hengyang and his wife were returning to Langfang by train. On Train No.1302 from Manzhouli to Beijing, Yuan Hengyang was reading Hong Yin. A railway police discovered this and called for several other police officers. They grabbed Mr. Yuan's book and arrested him. Currently, Yuan Hengyang's whereabouts are unknown.
10. [Shandong Province] Pan Shuping from Liquanzhuang Town Is Taken to a Brainwashing Class
On the morning of May 26, 2004, Li Wengui, a government employee of the Liquanzhuang Town Government, and Yu Gaoyang, a police officer, along with several other people, drove to East Zhongshui Village. They abducted Ms. Pan Shuping who was heading to the market. They brought her to the village office and tried to coerce her to write a "Guarantee Statement" to give up her belief in Falun Dafa. Pan Shuping did not cooperate. Li Wengui and Yu Gaoyang instructed their people to push Pan Shuping into the police car and then drove her to Xinzhuang Brainwashing Class in Wangcheng.

11. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Rong Meiqin Is Unlawfully Detained
On the afternoon of December 25, 2004, people from Huifeng Police Substation of Wanbolin District Public Security Branch in Taiyuan City arrested Ms. Rong Meiqin for distributing truth-clarifying materials. At 4:00 p.m., Li Jianmao and Yan from the National Security Team of Jianchaoping District Public Security Branch, together with Quan, assistant director of the Huifeng Police Substation, Tian, political instructor of Huifeng Police Substation, and three police officers from Wanbolin District Police Substation, unlawfully searched Rong Meiqin's home and confiscated all her Falun Dafa books and truth clarification materials. They even pried open and damaged a closet in her home.
On the afternoon of December 26, 2004, Liu, director of Huifeng Police Substation, and Tian, the political instructor, sent Rong Meiqin to Taiyuan Detention Center for further persecution, regardless of the fact that her head was seriously wounded during detention and that her family members strongly protested.
12. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Several Falun Dafa Practitioners Arrested
On November 30, 2004, Suining City practitioners Ms. Zhou, Ms. Wang Guoqin, Mr. Quan Xuejin, Mr. Guo Dinglian, Ms. Tan Xiaorong, Ms. Lin Shuzhen, and practitioners from Team No. 3 of Hengshan Town, including Mr. Xiao Yunqiang and Mr. Hu Shicai, were abducted.
13. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Wu Wenzhang Is Sentenced to Three and a Half Years in Prison
On September 17, 2004, the Shanhaiguan Court wrongfully sentenced Mr. Wu Wenzhang from Qinhuandao City to three and a half years in prison for explaining the truth of Falun Dafa and exposing the persecution. He is currently being detained in Team No. 2, Branch No.1 of Jidong Prison in Tangshan City.
Notes:
(1) The detainee is locked up in a very small cell individually. The guards handcuff practitioners with their hands behind their backs in a fixed position in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and no sunshine comes in. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees locked up in a small cell. During the night, rats are running around. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.
(2) With both hands shackled, both feet off the ground or only the toes touching the ground, one is hung by the handcuffs from a basketball support or a beam. The hands and arms will soon become immovable and numb as a result of this torture.
