(Clearwisdom.net) In Zhuan Falun, Master has mentioned a Fa principle regarding a person whose cultivation had reached the level of Arhat but dropped down due to his attachment of fear. In articles written during the Fa rectification period, Master has repeatedly mentioned the importance of getting rid of the attachment of fear. However, we cannot immediately eliminate this attachment just by wanting it to. If we have not understood its true nature and have not gotten rid of the material existence of fear, the attachment constantly strengthens our pursuit of comfort, wears down our will and makes us slacken in our doing the three things during this Fa rectification period.
During the past several years of evil persecution, I have personally experienced the cruelty of the persecution several times. Twice I was deceived and taken to brainwashing centers; three times detained in detention centers; and twice abducted and sent to Shayang Forced Labor Camp.
In these inhumane places, I have endured all kind of brutal tortures. Every day I heard and saw the beatings, cursing, threats and deprivation of sleep for a long time. Under such extreme mental pressure, the interference I encountered was derived from my own attachment of fear. Even at that time I understood that the fear was not me. When I tried to send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the fear I always felt that I was not powerful enough and my righteous thoughts wavered. Therefore, my sending forth the righteous thoughts did not achieve a good result. I felt upset and worried about the situation.
Let me illustrate with a simple example. When I was illegally arrested, the police came in their vehicles. I became very nervous whenever I saw a police vehicle later on. Once, shortly after I left my house with truth-clarification materials in my hands, I saw three police vehicles parked at a crossing not far away. I became very scared and my heart immediately started to palpitate irregularly. So I quickly turned back. My heartbeat did not return to normal for a very long time. Later I kept searching within myself to find why my first thought, after my seeing a police vehicle, was that the vehicle was there to arrest practitioners.
One time I was studying Master's "Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Midwest-U.S. Fa Conference." lecture. In this lecture, Master said,
"They say that this material dimension is filthy, but, this dimension's filthiness is caused by the differences among the levels of the cosmos's structure. That doesn't truly count as being filthy. So when a God comes here and can't go back, it's not because that filth can't be washed off, but because the realm of his being has been lowered. It's because of the influence of various different concepts and different beings in the cosmos that they can't go back. So what's really polluting me, creating trouble for me, bringing the Fa-rectification trouble, and persecuting Dafa disciples is actually not those filthy elements here but is the cosmos's beings' warped concepts manipulating those elements. Those low-level elements are resistance that the old forces specifically produced, and they have brought about those cases of persecution and different forms of trouble. That's the real pollution."
I suddenly enlightened to what constitutes the material existence of fear. It is, in fact, the very thought; that is, what had scared me was the thought that police vehicle was used to arrest practitioners. It was not me. When I was able to view it rationally and recognize it, this substance of fear immediately disappeared completely. The unparalleled relaxation I experienced in my whole body and the happiness that arose from deep in my heart was beyond description. I had truly understood
"With attachments left behind, the lightened boats sail swiftly."

I had genuinely experienced such a marvelous state of Dafa cultivation! Ever since then, I have no longer had the feeling of fear whenever I see a police vehicle. Through this incident, I came to understand that for any interference we have encountered, only by seeing through the evil nature of the interference, can we not be controlled by the evil spirits. Only then can we eliminate the evil spirit quickly and completely.
Let me talk about the issue from a different perspective.

Purging evil as if but whisking dust away"
From this Fa, I came to understand that we really should not assume that the evil beings are powerful. The evil are in fact, nothing. Once a fellow practitioner told me that the evil would abduct the Dafa practitioners to brainwashing centers and asked me to stay away for several days. Hearing this news, I sent forth righteous thoughts trying to eliminate the interference, but my heart was so disturbed that I could not calm down. So in a flurry, I took several clothes and ran out of my home. Recently, I heard similar news, but I was very calm this time, because through reading the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, I have understood the true nature of the party.
The communist evil specter has constantly resorted to the means of terror, so as to make people develop a psychological state of fear over a very long time in a terrifying environment. Furthermore, the evil specter also constantly strengthens this substance that makes people fear. In fact, it is not that one is afraid of it. Instead, it is the psychological fear formed in one's mind that, in turn, takes control of this person and makes this person fear. After I understand this issue, I know that when the evil again engages in terrorist activity, they are trying to strengthen people's fear. Just as the Nine Commentaries has said about it, the goal of the communist evil specter's killing people is not to kill many people, but to make all people fear the party.
Master said,
"In the eyes of everyday people, animals are so formidable that they can easily manipulate people. Actually, I say that they are not formidable and are nothing before a true practitioner. Though you may find one that has practiced cultivation for nearly one thousand years, a tiny finger will be more than enough to crush it."

We are Dafa practitioners during the Fa rectification time. A tiny finger of a Dafa practitioner will be more than enough to crush the communist evil specter. So how could I still be controlled by the psychological fear that the evil specter has bred in my mind through its activities of terror. After realizing this point, I was soon able to calm myself and send forth the righteous thoughts, to negate the old cosmic forces' arrangements and eliminate all the evil factors of the vicious party and communist evil specter.
These are some of my understandings during the process of getting rid of my attachment of fear. I hope it can help practitioners who still have the attachment of fear, so we can cultivate together diligently! Please point out anything that is improper.
