(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Meilan went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa many times. She was detained by her employer upon her return from Beijing in 2001, and died several days after she was released
Ms. Zhang Meilan, 68, was a retired employee of the Agricultural Machine Factory in Sanhe City, Hebei Province. She started practicing Falun Dafa in 1995, and after the persecution began in 1999, she went to Beijing many times to appeal for Dafa. In October 2000, when Ms. Zhang went to Beijing, she was arrested and sent back to the local Beicheng Police Substation. She was transferred to a detention center thereafter, where she immediately went on a hunger strike in protest of the persecution and her illegal detention. She walked out of the detention center on the fourth day.
Zhang Meilan went to Beijing again in 2001 with fellow practitioners, and was detained at the Nancheng Police Substation. She was later picked up by her employer. In 2001, Ms. Zhang was put under long-term house arrest, and was closely monitored by several people, because they feared that she would go to Beijing again. Ms. Zhang escaped from house arrest using righteous thoughts.
After her escape, Zhang Meilan started walking to Beijing. When she reached Gaolou Township, she saw a vehicle following her in the distance. She quickly took a detour, and avoided being arrested. She later took a taxi from suburban Beijing to Tiananmen Square. At Tiananmen Square, Ms. Zhang took out a banner, held it high, and shouted, "Master, your disciple is here. Falun Dafa is good. Restore my Master's reputation." She shouted this many times, and no one interfered. She then tied the banner to several evergreen trees on the Square, and returned home safely.
Ms. Zhang was detained by her employer about twenty days after she returned home. Under great psychological pressure, she died several days after she was released.
