Facts of the Persecution
Ms. Li Xiuzhen (approximately 50 years old) is from Anqiu County, Weifang City, Shandong Province. She has been illegally arrested 19 times during the past five years. During the detentions, the durations of her hunger strikes add up to 16 months. She was force-fed 616 times, and sometimes the feeding tubes used would not be removed until 7 days afterward. She was tortured and insulted in many ways. She was force fed with pepper powder, which burned her skin off, her mouth was stuffed with dirty shoes and socks, she was spat on, hung up, and knocked against the wall, the police yanked her feeding tubes in and out repeatedly to cause her more pain, she was bound tightly to a chair, she was deprived of sleep as the police put bamboo sticks between her eyelids, the police used electric batons to shock her sensitive parts, she was handcuffed to an iron chair and locked up, and more. The following organizations were involved in the persecution: the county government, the detention center, the labor education center, and the prison. After severe and inhuman tortures, Li Xiuzhen weighed only about 45 pounds. When her 13-year old daughter saw her, she was so scared that she passed out. Only after she was tortured to the point of being on the verge of death, were her family members ordered to take her home.

My name is Shang Xianyun. I was born in 1944 and I am from the Sixth Team, Eleventh Branch of Ande County, Pi County, Sichuan Province. I was first arrested on July 30, 2001 while I was spreading truth clarification materials in Yongxing, Pi County. The perpetrators from the Yongxing Police Station arrested and detained me at Pi County Detention Center for a month. The second time I was arrested was at Zhushi of Pi County when I was clarifying the truth. I was detained at the Pi County Detention Center for over two months. There, almost all of the practitioners were shocked with electric batons, and were also beaten up. Later I was sent to a brainwashing class for 14 months. I was locked in a room with 15 people. We slept on the floor, and we all had sores all over our bodies. They also drew blood out of us. Since then my health has worsened daily. On April 27, 2004, over a dozen people led by Liu Daoming and Li Xiaodong from the Ande Commune, broke into my home and dragged me from my bed to a vehicle. I shouted: "Falun Dafa is good" and clarified the truth when I got to the commune. I was then taken to Pi County and detained for two weeks.

Zhou Yanwen, female, 52, is the captain of the National Security Brigade of the Public Security Bureau in Lishu County, Jilin Province. Since July 1999, when the persecution began, she carried out severe persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. She also extorted huge amounts of money and goods from the practitioners. During the past five years, under her directive, over 140 Falun Gong practitioners were illegally detained, over 150 people had their homes illegally ransacked, at least 77 people were illegally reported for labor education, 8 people were sentenced to prison, and over 10 people were forced to leave home to avoid further persecution. Among them, Dai Chunhua and Li Li, who were persecuted to death by Siping Public Security Bureau in Jilin Province, and Fangshan Detention Center in Beijing respectively, were both once illegally detained at Lishu Detention center and tortured by Zhou Yanwen.

On the night of December 7, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners Cui Fengyun and Zhang Shibin from Anping County, Hebei Province, were illegally abducted and sent to the Hengshui Public Security Bureau. Hou Dajian from Anping Public Security Bureau and the police from Hengshui City Public Security Bureau blackmailed Cui Fengyun and Zhang Shibin's families for 4,000 and 8,000 yuan respectively. Due to hunger, lack of heat during the detention, and mental tortures, both practitioners showed symptoms of sickness. The authorities were afraid of taking any responsibility in case something worse happened to them, so they released them.

Wang Baoshan, former lead of Yuanli County Police Station in Shandong Province, violated human rights with his power. He kidnapped Falun Gong practitioners at will, beat them, cursed them, carried out illegal home searches, detained them, fined them, and confiscated their identification cards.
