New York: Falun Gong Practitioners Hold a Press Conference to Clarify the Truth on the Opening Day of the Republican National Convention (RNC) (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) August 30, 2004, was the opening day of the US Republican National Convention (RNC), nearly 10,000 reporters from different media outlets around the world, and a variety of protest groups converged on New York City. Falun Gong practitioners took this opportunity to clarify the truth to the public in peaceful and creative ways. At noon on August 30, the practitioners held a press conference at a park known as Madison Square Garden park nearby the convention site. They took the opportunity to inform the public about the persecution of Falun Gong in China using a photo exhibit, video , handing our written materials and reading a statement.
Wuhan Dafa Practitioner Ms. Yang Qinghua Was Persecuted to Death
(Clearwisdom.net) Wuhan Dafa practitioner Ms. Yang Qinghua, age 40, lived near the Wuchang Peasant Movement Institute. At the end of 2000, Yang Qinghua went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested, sent back to Wuhan and held in the detention center. That same year, she was illegally sentenced to forced labor reeducation. In the labor camp, because she refused to give up Falun Gong, she was locked in a single room for six months. When her family was notified to come take her away, she was in the hospital. Ms. Yang couldn't move her arms or legs, was unable to speak intelligibly, and had lost the ability to care for herself. She looked like an old woman well over 60. Her family was reluctant to take her home [as she could hardly be recognized]. A perfectly healthy woman had been tortured into an early old age. Yang Qinghua's family finally took her home, where she passed away on August 25, 2004.
Death of Dafa Practitioner Ms. Ning Guizhen from Funing County, Qinhuangdao City
(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Ms. Ning Guizhen and her daughter Xu Xiujuan went to Shanhaiguan District to distribute truth clarification materials, when the police abducted them. Ning Guizhen passed away on an evening in late June 2004. The following are details:
