(Clearwisdom.net) I have a sense of urgency after reading Teacher's latest article "Let Go of Human Attachments and Save the World's People." I realize there are many areas in which I can improve while clarifying the truth so that more people can understand and be saved. We live in the everyday people's society, and we come into contact with strangers from all walks of life. During our contact with everyday people, even though it may be only as short as a few minutes, we should try to tell them about the truth of Falun Dafa, and let them experience the compassion of Dafa practitioners. We should not let the opportunity of saving sentient beings pass by easily.
A few days ago, I saw an article in which a practitioner mentioned that it was relatively difficult to clarify the truth to strangers. First of all, the practitioner did not know how to start a conversation with strangers. Secondly, he or she did not know how to lead the conversation to the topic of clarifying the truth. Finally, the practitioner did not know how to maintain the right mindset and also be mindful of safety. I would like to share some of my experiences and understandings on these issues.
When I first started to clarify the truth to strangers, it felt difficult. Sometimes after I talked to a person for a while, I still could not get to the right topic to start clarifying the truth. I wasted a lot of time, and then the person needed to leave. So, I ended up unable to clarify the truth to that person. After a period of time trying to clarify the truth, I now realize that it is quite easy to tell people about the truth of Falun Dafa. There is no need to dance around the topic and waste time. With only two or three sentences, I can get to the right topic and clarify the truth. But of course, we must first have the correct state of mind with no psychological barriers. We must maintain a very pure heart: I am here to tell you the truth, and I am here to save you. We cannot let any thought that is not righteous linger in our minds.
For example, I met a shoeshine girl on the street. After exchanging a simple greeting as I sat down, I said to her, "I have a secret method to obtain a healthy body without spending money. It is practicing Falun Gong." I then immediately told her about the truth of Falun Dafa. In a few minutes, she finished shining my shoes and I finished clarifying the truth. Before I left, I told her to remember, "Falun Dafa is good."
I sometimes needed to ride in a taxi to take care of some urgent matters. As soon as I got into the car, I would say to the driver, "I'll tell you an interesting thing. A few days ago, I heard a report on the Voice of America radio station saying that Jiang has been sued in several countries." I clarified the truth to the driver using that as a starting point. I also ran into the following interesting scenario quite often: When I needed more time to clarify the truth, or the driver had some questions that he needed me to answer, we would suddenly run into a traffic jam, even if we were very close to my destination. We would arrive at the destination by the time I finished clarifying the truth. I enlightened that those were Teacher's arrangements.
One time, my mother forced me to go to the hospital for a check up because I used to have cancer. I had tumors everywhere inside my abdomen including liver, stomach, and spleen. Teacher gave me a second life; otherwise I would have died a long time ago. Before I was healed, I took a series of CT scans. Based on the scan results, my old doctor said I had only three months to live. So, I took those results and went to the hospital. I found a doctor whom I did not know and showed him the CT scan results. The doctor immediately had me scanned to check on the tumor condition. When the result came back, the doctor was shocked. The tumors were gone! I told him that I was cured because I practiced Falun Gong. The doctor did not believe me at first, and he took me to have an ultrasonic scan. But, he still could not find any tumors. He finally believed me.
There were other patients there also. There was a couple who just walked in and did not know what was going on. When they heard from others that all of my tumors had disappeared, the husband came out and caught up with me. He asked what had happened to me and what wonder drug had I taken. I told him that Falun Gong had cured me. I also told him the reports from the China Central TV were fabricated lies. I asked him to remember, "Falun Dafa is good." Although I did not know any of those people, my mindset was very righteous at the time. I did not think of anything else. Therefore, there was not any unsafe factor.
A few days ago, I went to pick up my business cards at a store where many people come and go. There were also many printing regulations and announcements posted around. The manager asked me to wait while he had the print shop send the cards over. Because the cards have my real name on them, I did not know how to safely talk about Falun Gong. But I did not want to miss the opportunity, so I sent forth righteous thoughts and asked Teacher to help in my heart. I thought of an idea in less than one minute. I said to the manager, "I am in the import and export business. Nowadays it is really hard to get an order from overseas. The human rights situation in China is not very good, especially the persecution on Falun Gong in recent years. The foreigners do not understand ..." From the perspective of a third person, I was able to clarify the truth to the manager and many people at the scene. After hearing the truth, the manager was very happy, and he even asked me to stop by more often when I had the time.
There are many examples of clarifying the truth to strangers and I am not going to list them all here. I believe that we must maintain a pure and righteous mind when we are clarifying the truth. We must be rational and be aware of safety. We should make the best use of time and not let any opportunity pass by. We should remember to send forth righteous thoughts and ask Teacher to give us wisdom when we cannot think of a way to clarify the truth.
In addition, I believe practitioners who have regular jobs should pay attention to not take extreme measures just because time is short. We should not quit our jobs and do only truth-clarification work all day. This will only create misunderstandings in people. I think we can more fully utilize the daytime to clarify the truth. For example, we can clarify the truth to people on the street during lunch break. We can even do it on the way to and from work. The evening is for studying the Fa, practicing the exercises, and sending forth righteous thoughts. We also need to do household work as well. We can compress the time for sleep even more. We may be able to arrange time better this way.
