(Clearwisdom.net) Fenqi Lake near Ali Mountain, surrounded by tea trees, is a well-known summer resort. The Fenqi Lake Hotel in this area is a famous hotel with a 50-year history. Several Falun Dafa practitioners recently visited the hotel and clarified truth of Falun Dafa to Mr. Lin, the owner. From the spread of Falun Dafa in China to its spread around the world, from the persecution beginning in July, 1999 to the current lawsuits against Jiang Zemin and other perpetrators, practitioners talked with Mr. Lin for a long time. Finally, the practitioners asked for permission to hold a 9-day lecture series in the hotel so that more local residents could learn Falun Dafa. Mr. Lin wholeheartedly approved the practitioners' request.
The 9-day-lecture series started on the evening of August 16. Practitioners introduced the theme of the workshop and played the first lecture of Master Li's Guanzhou Lecture series. During the break, a local practitioner shared his experiences of practicing Falun Dafa. The whole place was very peaceful and compassionate. After the lecture was finished, we played Master's exercise instruction videotape. All the new practitioners learned the exercises very seriously. After the seminar, we announced that we would practice the exercises at a plaza near the local train station at 5 a.m. the next day, and read Lecture One of Zhuan Falun (1) at 7 a.m.
Teaching new practitioners the exercises after viewing Master Li's lecture
We were surprised and pleased to see that more than ten new practitioners showed up at the practice site the next morning. Because of our practitioners' sincerity and compassion, the new practitioners felt that the atmosphere of the site was very peaceful and joyful. After the five sets of exercises, we started to read Lecture One. Several older practitioners had difficulty keeping up with the reading speed. Therefore, every one of us read the Fa (2) clearly and slowly. It took us nearly two hours to finish the lecture. However, none of us felt thirsty or fatigued.
Mr. Lin hired six temporary employees to serve us a delicious breakfast and made us feel that we were a big family. After the breakfast, we went to a two-story caf¨¦ owned by the mayor of the village. From the caf¨¦, one can overlook the whole lake. In the caf¨¦, we shared our cultivation experiences and stories of Fa rectification. The mayor's wife served us with the best tea of the mountain. She also told us that the mayor often smoked, drank or chewed betel-nuts. To attend the 9-day lecture session, he didn't have time at night to drink. In the mornings, he woke up early to practice the exercises and thus didn't smoke, drink or chew betel-nuts. She said his change was so fast. Even his daughter asked about the teachings and how it could be so powerful. It is Falun Dafa! What exercises does it teach? Falun Gong! What does one need to read? Zhuan Falun!
After being together for several days, we gained a deeper understanding about the new practitioners' lives. At times, we also discussed personal issues. For example, a brother of the mayor was about to get divorced because he was addicted to alcohol and often mistreated his wife. One day before the Dafa workshop started, he heard from Mr. Lin that practitioners would come to teach Falun Gong for free. Maybe it was arranged like that, but the couple came to listen to Master's lectures every night. Amazingly, in just a few days, they improved their relationship and became voluntary contact persons for the village's practice site. During the lecture series, four "little bees" (a special MP3 player with Falun Dafa exercises and lectures built-in) and 40 copies of Zhuan Falun were sold.
Another young fellow had spine problem that is a hereditary disease in his family. He had to take medicine every day for pain relief. At the beginning, he came to the lectures with his uncle-in-law. After attending two lectures, he started to experience body-cleansing. He practices and reads the Fa every day, and now he doesn't need to take medicine anymore and don't feel much pain. Though he came to the lectures without much interest, he was able to listen to Master's lectures wholeheartedly and then benefited. His gratitude to Dafa can't be described by adequately human language; every word from him is from the bottom of his heart with truth respect to Dafa. Not only has this young man's attitude toward life changed, his family has become much happier.
It is worth mentioning that a strong hurricane passed through the area during the period of the 9-day lecture series. With practitioners' righteous thoughts, the lectures were not affected at all. Later, practitioners learned that the Ali Mountain highway had been severely damaged and was forced to close.
Because of practitioners' selfless effort to spread Falun Dafa, new practitioners were deeply touched and were encouraged to cultivate diligently.
