(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Cheng Qiaoyun is a Falun Gong practitioner and a resident of Daqing City in Heilongjiang Province. She was illegally sentenced to two years in prison simply for practicing Falun Gong. On May 27, 2004, her term expired and by law, she should have been released. But Zhang Guojun and Liu Xiping, both officials from the "610 Office"(1) of Daqing City, together with Li Xiuen and Liu Xinglin, the Secretary of the Communist Party in Jiulong Company, and Zhang Jianguo, the Director of a division of Jiulong Company, refused to grant permission for her release. Rather than letting her go, they took her to the Hongweixing Brainwashing Center in Daqing City. Then they transferred Ms. Cheng to the detention center for a while, but later they transferred her back to the Brainwashing Center. Ms. Cheng's life is in grave danger due to the persecution she has suffered, and she was sent to the emergency room for several days to undergo emergency treatment. After she left the emergency room, the authorities continued to persecute her as they had done before. It has now been almost 50 days since Cheng Qiaoyun left the emergency room.
Ms. Cheng was tortured both physically and mentally to such a degree that she suffered a mental collapse and she can now no longer walk. She has developed insomnia, cannot speak, and she even appears not to notice when her food has been contaminated with sand. Her hands were severely beaten by the person monitoring her. Recently Ms. Cheng was taken away by the police and now nobody knows of her whereabouts.
Zhang Zhong, a Falun Gong practitioner living in Daqing City, was tortured by Li Fangjie of Daqing Prison to such a degree that he developed a hunchback, causing him great suffering. Zhang Zhong cannot eat anything and he cannot hold his food down. He has been vomiting blood for over half a year, and he depends on intravenous injections to stay alive. Mr. Zhang is bedridden and cannot move. His life is in great danger, yet the prison still refuses to release him.
These people who are been treated so inhumanely only who wish to practice Falun Gong so as to become better people by following the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance." Simply for this they have had to suffer such inhumane persecution. Such sins will not be allowed to continue for long; good is always rewarded with good and evil is met with evil.
We demand that the prison release Zhang Zhong and Cheng Qiaoyun immediately. We also ask all those kind-hearted people reading this article, as well as international human rights organizations, to please help gain the release of these two Falun Gong practitioners.
