(Clearwisdom.net) The Journalists of Color Convention & Career Expo was held at Washington Convention center from August 4 to 8, 2004. The convention and Expo attracted more than 8000 black, Hispanic, Asian-American and American Indian journalists across the country. Practitioners in greater Washington DC area took it as a great opportunity to raise awareness of the persecution. On August 7, about 150 practitioners from Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC staged an anti-torture exhibition using real-life models. They set up banners and poster boards, distributed CDs, Falun Dafa Readers, lotus flowers, etc.
St Petersburg Times (FL) reported practitioners' effort and described the torture exhibition in detail: "The man dressed as a police officer slowly hammers bamboo sticks stuck under a woman's fingernails..."
The reporter also noted practitioners' tireless efforts in exposing the persecution: "Practitioners of a meditation technique called Falun Dafa, better known as Falun Gong, have been bringing their demonstrations to large national gatherings, including the Democratic Convention in Boston. The group accuses the Chinese government of torturing and killing practitioners."
Practitioner Ming Chen, a North Carolina resident, told another reporter: ""Please tell people about us. That's the journalists' mission."
