(Clearwisdom.net) Clearwisdom.net correspondent Li Hua reports from Vancouver -- On the afternoon of July 17, 2004, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Jiang group's suppression of Falun Gong, Falun Gong practitioners from Vancouver held an anti-torture exhibition in Chinatown to expose the brutal persecution that has been taking place in China. Many more Chinese people then ever before came to watch the exhibition and ask for more information. Many people hesitated to leave. They stayed there and listened to practitioners explaining the facts again and again. They seemed to be pondering; they were sympathetic towards practitioners and felt indignation over the Jiang group's ruthless persecution.

Practitioners continuously broadcasted in Mandarin and Cantonese about the persecution and torture endured by Falun Gong practitioners in China. Ms. Wang Yuzhi from Harbin, China also related her personal experiences in a Chinese labor camp.
The live torture exhibition shocked people. Some people even forgot that this was only a mock re-enactment. An elderly westerner who passed by said, "What is happening here? Why don't you call the police?" When practitioners told him that these were demonstrations of what Falun Gong practitioners endure in China, he was shocked and said that practitioners should immediately inform the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) to cover the news.
After find out what has been going on, a group of elderly Chinese ladies said, "We hate the Chinese ruling party. We were persecuted in China before. We completely believe that China (the Jiang's group) treat you this way and believe that the real situation is much more severe than what you are displaying here." One of the ladies insisted on giving practitioners a bag of bread that she just bought. Practitioners politely declined with thanks.
Many people asked practitioners, "Is this real? Is this happening in the 21st century?" Practitioners told them that the real situation is much crueler than this. People said, "This is really terrible! More horrible than the way that the Kuomintang treated the Chinese communist party in the old days!"
A westerner passed by and spent quite some time watching the exhibition. When accepting interview with New Tang Dynasty TV, he said that the June 4 massacre took place in 1989 in China and he completely believed that this kind of persecution of Falun Gong is happening in China today. He said that Canada should limit its trade with China and condemn China's human rights violation. He said what you are doing here is effective. It can allow more people to be aware of this.
A Chinese person said to practitioners that he read the Epoch Times (a Chinese newspaper) and was aware of the suppression of Falun Gong in China. He believed that all of this was real but he did not expect that the persecution could be so horrible! He said that he supported practitioners and all people should stand up to condemn Jiang.
A Chinese gentleman, Mr. Yang, watched the exhibition for quite a while. When a reporter asked him whether he would like to be interviewed, he said, "Sure. I'm not afraid of revenge. I want to say that Jiang's suppression of Falun Gong is a big felony. It does not make any sense to arrest those elderly ladies and gentlemen who practice Falun Gong. As for whether there are these tortures, I believe there are! It is just like in the past years, the Party punished its members such as Liu Shaoqi (the former President of China in 1950s and 60s). It was brutal. Jiang even blocks the internet and one is unable to type in the words of Falun Gong. In fact, the more he suppresses Falun Gong, the more widely that Falun Gong is spread. Falun Gong is spread to the entire world and its momentum becomes more and more formidable. They said that you are selling our country? How could that be? Only those who have the power can sell the country. How could it be possible for common people to sell their country?"
When the reporter asked Mr. Yang about his views on the shooting incident in South Africa, he said, "I believe that it was definitely done by the Chinese ruling party! They have done this before in Hong Kong and Macao. I'm not quite clear about what Falun Gong is, but I support freedom of religion and freedom of belief."
