(Clearwisdom.net) A German-Chinese cultural exchange association invited Falun Gong practitioners to take part in the annual Foreign Culture Festival held in Heidelberg University Square on June 5.
People from a variety of cultural backgrounds performed on stage. Among them was the celestial maiden dance troupe made up of Falun Gong practitioners. The troupe performed two ribbon dances entitled "Dunhuang" and "Lotus Flower Eulogy." A flautist, who is also a Falun gong practitioner, played traditional Chinese music.
A female practitioner from China who is studying in Germany performed the solo dance "Dunhuang." In February 2000, police arrested her for appealing for Falun Gong in Tiananmen Square. She was detained for one month in a labor camp and forced to attend brainwashing classes. She was badly beaten by police and when she went on a hunger strike in protest, she was brutally force-fed (force-feeding is a form of torture in labor camps). In November 2003, together with forty other Falun Gong practitioners, she launched legal action against Jiang Zemin and fifteen of his accomplices in Germany charging them with genocide, crimes against humanity and crimes of torture.
In a booth near the stage, people could have their names written on a bookmark in Chinese calligraphy by a Falun Gong practitioner. On the back of the bookmark, there was a brief introduction to Falun Dafa. This activity was particularly popular with German people.
