1. [Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] A Seventy-Year-Old Man Dies from Persecution
Hao Junwei was a 70-year-old man from Guozhuang Village, Bingcao Township, Shenzhou City. After he started to practice Falun Gong, he benefited greatly both physically and spiritually. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, when he went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa, he was detained for two months. In September 2001, he and his son were illegally arrested at the same time. He was forcibly taken to a brainwashing class and detained there for two months. During the detention, the barbaric scenes in the brainwashing class (the sounds of beatings, swearing, cries and screams) seriously harmed the elderly man's spirit. He wasn't released until he suffered a mental breakdown. After that, the local "610 Office" [the "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] continued to harass and pressure him at home. He died in October 2002.

2. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Four Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Handed Heavy Sentences
On March 26, 2004, officers of the Yushu City Court secretly tried four Falun Dafa practitioners. Yang Zhanjiu was sentenced to twelve years in prison; Liu Tiejun, received ten years; Xu Hongbo, eight years; and Dabaozi, three years. Yang Zhanjiu is the husband of Li Shuhua, a Falun Dafa practitioner who was beaten to death by local policemen in October 2003. Their two young children, eight years old and ten years old, have been left alone at home.
3. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Nearly Ten Falun Dafa Practitioners Arrested in Licheng District
On April 22, the Licheng District "610 Office," assisted by the Jinan Steel & Iron Police Substation and the Wangsheren Town Police Substation, arrested about ten practitioners from Jinan, including Ms. Ya Li (in her fifties) and Mr. Liu Hongxiang and Mr. Su Shuzheng (both in their twenties). Among the practitioners, Liu Hongxiang and Su Shuzheng were detained in Liuchangshan Forced Labor Camp in Jinan City.
4. [Jieyang City, Guangdong Province] Five Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested
On the evening of April 23, 2004, nearly ten Falun Gong practitioners' homes were illegally searched by the local "610 Office" and the police substation. The practitioners were taken to the police substation, and at least five of them were sent to Jiedong Detention Center. The practitioners are: Ms. Chen Chanlei and Ms. Zhang Lili from Deqiao Village, Yuecheng Town, Jiedong County; Ms. Zhang Huifang; Ms. Zhang Jianfang; and Ms. Lin Huichan from Baita Town.

5. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Kang Hongxia Detained and Her Husband Dismissed from Work Due to "Guilt by Association"
Kang Hongxia, a Falun Dafa practitioner who was abducted by the Dongyuan Police Substation on April 15, 2004, is being kept in custody in Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center. The police also searched her home and illegally confiscated 50 Dafa books. Her husband Tian Dajia, who is a non-practitioner, used to work at the Hebei Branch of the Xinhua News Agency. He was fired from his job simply because his wife is a Falun Gong practitioner.

6. [Anping County, Hebei Province] Five Falun Dafa Practitioners Arrested in Liangwa Township
After 11:00 p.m. on April 4, 2004, several police officers from the Hengshui and Anping Public Security Bureaus came to Xiaoxin Village of Liangwa Township in four police cars. They arrested Gao Weiquan and his wife Ma Rongrong. After illegally searching their home, the police confiscated one notebook computer, one VCD player, and some truth-clarifying materials. The two are currently being detained in Hengshui No.1 Detention Center, but their family members are not allowed to see them. All necessities and clothes have been delivered to them via the police. Gao Weiquan's father is nearly 70, and their son is only 12. Their son is being taken care of by relatives so he can go to school, while all their contract fields are being plowed and planted by Mr. Gao's aged father with the help of his relatives.
On February 5, Ma Zhangfeng, a cadre from Liangwa Township and a Falun Dafa practitioner as well, and Song Xiaozhuan from Xilitun, and a practitioner from Maozhuang, who has since been released, were also taken to Hengshui No.1 Detention Center.

7. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Sun Yan Has Not Been Released After Completion of Original Sentence
Ms. Sun Yan, together with two other Falun Dafa practitioners, was secretly transferred from the Dalian Forced Labor Camp to the Longshan Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City for intensified persecution. The initial term imposed on Sun Yan expired at the end of April, but the Dalian Forced Labor Camp extended her original sentence by 50 days. Moreover, the police from the Longshan Forced Labor Camp have announced that they will not release her if she does not renounce her faith. Sun Yan is being illegally detained in Team No. 2.

8. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Practitioner Xiong Yuhua and Her Family Are Subjected to Persecution, Causing Her Husband's Death
The Laocheng Public Security Bureau in Luoyang City has extorted money, tried to brainwash, detained and jailed over a dozen Falun Dafa practitioners since the persecution began on July 20, 1999. A case in point is Ms. Xiong Yuhua, a practitioner in her sixties. At the end April 2001, she was detained and subjected to torture. While she was being detained, her husband died due to grief and illness.

9. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Zhang Hongjun from Chengfengzhuang Is Being Detained at the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center
Police from the Qingdong Police Substation abducted Ms. Zhang Hongjun, a 35-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from Chengfengzhuang District, Daqing City, while she was distributing truth-clarifying materials in Dongfeng Xinchun on July 27, 2003. She was taken to Daqing Detention Center the same day and sentenced to two years of forced labor on September 5. Currently she is being detained at the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center.
10. [Xinbing County, Liaoning Province] Zhou Yongping Is Arrested
On April 23, 2004, Zhou Yongping, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Xinbing County, was arrested at home. There was nobody else at home at the time. Zhou Yongping was sent to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp without any legal procedures.

11. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Two Falun Dafa Practitioners Arrested in the Shahekou District
At around 7:40 p.m. on April 14, 2004, practitioners Qi Shurong and Xie Dewen were arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials on Daqing Street in the Shanhekou District. Policemen from Quanyong Police Substation were involved in the arrest. The two practitioners' whereabouts are currently unknown.
12. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Longtan District Practitioner Hu Yanfeng Is Illegally Arrested
On the evening of April 23, officials from the Wulajie Town government and the police substation in the Longtan District of Jilin City went to harass Falun Dafa practitioners who had been jailed in detention centers, brainwashing classes, and forced labor camps. Senior citizen Guan and Hu Yanfeng from Hantun Village, Wulajie Town, were forcibly abducted. The elder Guan was able to escape using righteous thoughts. Hu Yanfeng was taken to the local police substation.

14. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Five Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Arrested and Their Homes Searched
On April 22, the Panjin Public Security Bureau separately arrested Panjin practitioners Li Shangshi, Zhang Jingwei, Tian Xiaojing and a practitioner surnamed Kang (first name unknown). Their homes were searched, and the police confiscated three computers, three printers, some truth-clarifying materials, banners, and computer supplies.
On April 23, Gao Diansheng, chief chef of the Lantai Hotel in Tianjia Town, Panjin City, was arrested. His home was illegally searched as well.

At noon on March 22, 2004, four policemen from the Zhangduangu Police Substation came to Xiu Village in Dongxiu Township, Jinzhou City. They unlawfully arrested practitioners Geng Jicai and his wife Wang Minxue, who were clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa. The couple is from Daxinzhuang Village in Zhangduangu Township. They are currently being detained at the Wuji Detention Center. Nobody is allowed to visit them.
