(Clearwisdom.net) The University of Melbourne has established itself as one of the finest in Australia, with its long history and its academic and research standards. It also hosts many overseas Chinese students. On May 13, 2004, on the occasion of the fifth "World Falun Dafa Day," dozens of local Falun Gong practitioners arrived at the university to introduce Falun Dafa to staff and students so as to let them know the facts about Falun Dafa's spread around the world, the Jiang group's persecution of Falun Gong, and lawsuits against Jiang and his followers in many countries.
At 10:00a.m., Falun Gong practitioners arrived on the lawn in front of the Union House at the center of the campus. They set up a booth and introduced Falun Dafa to staff and students who were passing by. They also exposed the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and informed them that people were suing Jiang Zemin worldwide. At the same time, many practitioners handed out truth clarification flyers, newspapers and VCDs to passersby. They told passersby that over the past five years, Falun Gong practitioners have made persistent efforts in the face of brutal persecution based on their belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." Practitioners from Mainland China used their personal experiences to describe the true nature of this persecution.
At noon, more and more students took a break on the lawn. They were also attracted by practitioners who were peacefully demonstrating the exercises, and they stopped to watch. One overseas Chinese student said, "Falun Gong is banned in China, how come you are here on our campus practicing it'" The practitioners replied, "Perhaps you don't know that only China forbids it, but people all over the world are practicing it."
Many students carefully looked at display boards on the lawn. Two Western students told the practitioners that they had heard about Falun Dafa long before, but hadn't understood why such a wonderful belief beneficial to both the country and people is being persecuted by the Chinese government. The practitioners patiently explained the truth to them, and told them that all the Falun Dafa materials are made and printed with money from practitioners, and they hoped the students would cherish them. They were moved after hearing this, and expressed that they would pass the materials to more people.
Some students had only learned about the persecution of Falun Gong in China from the TV news, but had never heard about "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." Upon learning that cultivation in Dafa can improve one's physical and mental health, they expressed that they would visit Dafa websites, and come to the practice site to learn the exercises.
A student from Guangdong Province told the practitioners that he had been paying attention to the Falun Gong issue, and wanted to know clearly which side speaks the truth, the government or Falun Gong. One month ago, when he heard about the lawsuit against Melbourne Town Hall for preventing Falun Gong practitioners from participating in the Melbourne Moomba Festival, and that the Town Hall finally lost the case, he came to understand some things. He requested many truth clarification materials, and told the practitioners that he would tell his friends and classmates to come to learn the truth about Falun Gong, and be clear on who is telling the truth.
During the whole process of introducing Falun Dafa and clarifying the truth, practitioners made sure to talk about the global lawsuits against Jiang. People who learned about Falun Dafa and the persecution understood the meaning of the lawsuits against Jiang and his followers. One student said excitedly, "Justice should be served for dictators. People like Jiang Zemin, who have committed lots of crimes, will definitely receive the justice they deserve."
At 4:00 p.m., the Fa-promotion activity concluded. Though the practitioners did not have time to have lunch, they were very pleased, as they had used their activity to celebrate the 12th anniversary of Falun Dafa's introduction and more and more kind-hearted people were able to make a clear choice between the truth and lies.
