Facts of the Persecution

Dafa practitioners Zheng Huiwang, Yang Jianpo, Han Zhenju, Wang Dong and others from Langfang City, Hebei Province are being held at Group One in the Kaiping Labor Camp in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. Zheng Huiwang has been on a hunger strike for more than four months, and the other practitioners have been on a hunger strike for more than two months. All of them are on the brink of death, yet the guards refuse to release these practitioners.

Dafa practitioner Cao Hongyan from the Changyi District, Jilin City was harassed and detained by the local police department and county government because he persisted in practicing Falun Gong. In 2002, officers from the Yangjiawaizi Police Station in Changchun City arrested Cao Hongyan on his way home from work. He was sentenced to eight years in prison and is currently being held at Jilin City Prison. He is not allowed to have family visits.

On February 18, 2004, police abducted Dafa practitioner Gong Qiumin from Sanchazi Town, Jiangyuan County, Baishan City, Jilin Province. Around February 23, her husband Zhang Gongchang was abducted, and both of them are being held at the Jiangyuan County Detention Center. The guards order inmates to beat Zhang Gongchang, who is blind in one eye. His other eye is black and blue from beating. They are forced to pack chopsticks daily and are savagely tortured. Gong Qiumin held at least three hunger strikes since her detention and was force-fed. Ms. Gong Qiumin was also held at the Jiutai Labor Camp in Jilin Province and at the Heizuizi Labor Camp in Changchun City. She suffered all kinds of torture, but she escaped from the labor camps with the power of her righteous thoughts.

Around April 20, 2004, Dafa practitioner Fang Shaoliang from Lingshan Town, Jimo City and practitioner Hu Dunxiang from Cuijia'an Village in Qingdao City, Shandong Province disappeared. Fang Shaoliang's mother Zhang Xiuying disappeared on the evening of April 17. Preliminary investigations concluded that perpetrators from Lingshan Town's "610 Office" and Jimo City's "610 Office" abducted these three practitioners.

On May 18, 2003, Dafa practitioner Lan Qizhi was secretly sentenced to eleven years in prison. He was first held at the Zhengding County Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City for 20 months, and then he was transferred to the Shijiazhuang Prison. On July 3, 2003, he was sent to the Taihang Prison in Hebei Province. The guards forced him to work for 12 hours daily, and Lan Qizhi held a hunger strike. The guards didn't allow him to sleep and forced him to watch Dafa-slandering videos and listen to other forms of propaganda.

On Mach 5, 2004, Pei Hua, head of Beipiao City's "610 Office" in Liaoning Province, led two plainclothes police officers to abduct Dafa practitioner Yang Jingzhi. They sent her to the Liangshuihe Detention Center. In late March, Yang Jingzhi was sentenced to forced labor and was sent to the Masanjia Labor Camp for the third time. The guards at Masanjia Labor Camp injected Yang Jingzhi with nerve-damaging drugs and caused Yang Jingzhi to become mentally confused. The second time she was sent to the Masanjia Labor Camp, Yang Jingzhi was held in a solitary confinement cell for 56 days and a "Strictly Monitored Group" for more than 200 days. In addition, her sentence was extended by seven months.

Dafa practitioner Hou Zhiqiang from the Yonghong District, Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province was held at the Jiamusi Labor Camp for one year between 2000 and 2001. Around May 2002 he was tortured and interrogated at a detention center, and was later sent to the Jiamusi City Labor Camp for three more years of forced labor. He showed symptoms of severe heart disease and was on the brink of death. Hou Zhiqiang also held numerous hunger strikes and was force-fed.

My name is Zeng Fancun and my wife is Li Yanxiu. We are both Dafa practitioners and lived in Buyunqiao Town, Qidong County, Hunan Province. Since July 20, 1999 when the persecution began, my wife and I were unlawfully arrested, detained, tortured, had money extorted, and our home was ransacked. My wife was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

Han Gang, head of the Shangjiahe Town Militia and Sun Jundong, the Political and Judiciary Committee secretary for Shangjiahe Town extorted money from Dafa practitioner Shi Dongli's family in Xinbin County, Liaoning Province.

The Masanjia Labor Camp is located in the Yuhong District, Shenyang City. It occupies 200 mu (33 acres) of land and contains paddy fields, dry fields, and vegetable fields. Since October 1999, after the persecution began, police officers from all over the province arrested many determined Dafa practitioners. The male practitioners were forced to work in the fields alongside criminal inmates. Twenty-nine male Dafa practitioners, including Peng Geng, Feng Gang, Liu Qingming and Yang Chuanjun were injured and passed out because the guards beat and kicked them. After June 2000, female Dafa practitioners were also forced to work in the fields, regardless of their physical condition. Dafa practitioner Yan Shuqin passed out in the fields because she was elderly and weak; 69-year-old practitioner Ma Ying returned from fieldwork limping, with her feet swollen severely. In the past few years, the Masanjia Labor Camp has made several million Yuan from exploiting Dafa practitioners' labor.
