Facts of Persecution
On September 14, 2002 police from the Mancheng County Police Department in Hebei Province arrested Dafa practitioners Liu Qiaozhen and Wang Xiaofeng, and brutally tortured them. The perpetrators beat Liu Qiaozhen's feet with wooden clubs, stuck a lit cigarette into her nose, and burnt her neck with cigarettes. They also put nerve-damaging drugs into her nostrils and shocked her mouth with an electric baton. They tortured her for an entire day and night. Later, Liu Qiaozhen was sent to the Mancheng County Detention Center and was held there for 35 days. She was then transferred to Wangdu County, and on January 14 she was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor.
On April 16, 2003 authorities from the Labor Re-education Committee tortured Falun Gong practitioners detained at the Shibalihe Female Labor Camp in Zhenzhou City, trying to force them to give up their beliefs. They first coerced and threatened the practitioners, and then they began torturing them. They tied the practitioners with ropes, and forced them to wear "strait jackets."(1) Practitioner Luan Jing passed out while she was tied with ropes for a very long time. Practitioner Zhang Qing was rushed to the hospital after being tortured, and practitioner Zhao Ronghua was bedridden and could not move for several months after being brutally tortured. Practitioners Zhou Guizhen and Wei Guirong were disabled as a result of the torture, and Sun Shimei was tortured to death.
On February 24, 2004 police officers ransacked the home of Dafa practitioner Niu Hongyu in Hebei Province, and they took him to the security division of his work unit, where they slapped his face, burnt his face with a cigarette lighter, constantly beat and kicked him, pulled him by his hair, and almost suffocated him. They tortured him like this for one-and-a-half hours. At night, Niu Hongyu was cuffed to a bed all night in a room at the security division. He constantly sent forth righteous thoughts, recited Dafa scriptures, and clarified the truth to people who watched him. Six days later, the police unconditionally released him and escorted him home.
Perpetrators and Their Crimes
Liang Jianhua is a vicious police officer from Yixian County, Hebei Province. On September 23, 2003 Liang Jianhua, along with five or six cohorts, ransacked the home of Dafa practitioner Li Baojin. They later sent him to the county detention center where he was brutally tortured. The perpetrators also went to his hometown and took away his family members. They extorted 100 Yuan from his family.
On November 18, 2003, perpetrators Wu Yongtang, Lu Shaofeng, Yang Jianping, Liang Lu, Zhen Li, and Xie Yajuan from the Huitong County "610 Office"(2) in Hunan Province broke into the home of Dafa practitioner Zhang Yinxiang and sent her to a detention center. On November 19, 2003 Wu Yongtang and Xie Yajuan broke into and ransacked the home of practitioner Yang Xiaoqing, and then sent her to a detention center. Zhang Yinxiang and Yang Xiaoqing held a hunger strike at the detention center. On January 17, 2004 they were sent to Baimalong Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City. The labor camp authorities refused to take Zhang Yinxiang because she was on the verge of death, and they sent her back to Huitong County.
(1) "Strait jackets:" Determined Dafa practitioners are forced to wear this jacket and then cross and tie their arms behind their backs. Then they pull their arms up over their shoulders to the front of their chest, tie up the practitioners' legs and hang them up in the air from the windows. At the same time, they gag practitioners' mouths with cloth, put earphones in their ears and continuously play messages that slander Dafa. According to an eyewitness account, people who suffer this torture quickly sustain broken arms, tendons, shoulders, wrists, and elbows. Those who endure this torture for a long time have completely broken spines, and they die in agonizing pain.
(2) "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
