(Clearwisdom.net) Thirty-five-year-old Dexing Jiang, born in Huanreng County, Benxi City, Liaoning Province, developed a bad habit of stealing when he was young. As he grew, his conduct became worse. His father could not control his son with violence or force. Dexing practically grew up in detention centers and prisons, and always returned to his bad behavior once he was released.
Dexing Jiang's brother-in-law and sister-in-law are Falun Dafa practitioners who set up a restaurant in Panjing. In March 1998, Dexing Jiang went to stay with them. One morning, he saw his brother-in-law sitting in meditation. Dexing Jiang managed to cross his legs in the same position, and began looking through the book Zhuan Falun. After his brother-in-law finished the meditation, he asked, "This book is so good. Can I learn?" His brother-in-law asked him, "Why not?" Dexing said, "I am too bad. Would the Teacher still want me?" His brother-in-law replied, "You can learn. Anyone can learn. Buddha saves people with a good predestined relationship. If you want to learn, you are someone with a good predestined relationship." At that point, Dexing Jiang started learning to practice Falun Dafa.
Dexing Jiang's frequent offences had caused him a lot of strife. His life was chaotic and he suffered poor health. From the day he began to study the Falun Dafa teachings, Teacher began to purify his body and mind. At the beginning, he had blood in his stool. His feet oozed with pus and his belly button also discharged pus and blood. With a kidney stone, he bore some of the pain as Teacher adjusted his body. It was so painful that he could not stand up straight, but he held firm in his belief in the Teacher and Dafa and persisted in cultivation and practice. His discomfort quickly disappeared for good, and his body felt energized and free from disease.
The most remarkable change in Dexing Jiang was in his thinking. After he had studied Falun Dafa for several days, he told his brother-in-law with tears in his eyes, "From now on, I know how to be a good person. I did terrible things in the past. If I continued on that path, I would be going against the nature of the universe and destroying myself. Not only was I harming myself, I was also causing harm to other people and I cannot imagine the consequences." Dexing Jiang told his brother-in-law from his heart, "It is Falun Dafa that saved me. I had committed unpardonable sins, and Falun Dafa dissolved the hatred in my heart. Falun Dafa enabled me to give up the evil thought of harming all the family members of my spouse. "
During the Spring Festival of 1999, he went to visit his daughter at his mother-in-law's home. He bought a copy of his most cherished book, Zhuan Falun, and gave it to the family of his mother-in-law. After that, he purchased another copy of Zhuan Falun and gave it to his uncle.
Stealing had become natural for Dexing Jiang when he was young. Since he learned Falun Dafa, he never stole a single coin from others. He refused the salary offered by his brother-in-law, and only accepted enough money for basic living expenses. Dexing Jiang, a man who never thought twice about indulging himself, became thrifty after he learned Falun Dafa. Once he went out to buy meat for the restaurant. The butcher did not follow his instructions for cutting the meat, and even included a lot of low-quality meat. Dexing kept quiet and didn't make an issue out of it. After he had paid, the butcher wanted an additional 60 Yuan. Dexing Jiang paid him using his own money After this incident, he claimed, if this had happened before he learned Dafa, he would have gotten so angry he could have killed the merchant with a knife. Having learned Falun Dafa, he tried to be a good person and follow the standards of "truthfulness, compassion and forbearance". He tried to be a practitioner who never fights back when being punched or insulted and considers other people first in all situations. He was able to step back from the conflict, and see that the sea is vast and sky is boundless and it was pointless to behave like he would have before.
Another time, a customer in the restaurant became drunk and vomited continuously. Dexing Jiang cleaned the vomit off the customer and carried him to a taxi. Dexing himself was soiled in the process but felt no resentment or regret. The customer was so touched he gave him 30 Yuan. Dexing quietly put the money back in the customer's pocket.
At the Panjing Fa Experience Sharing Conference in 1998, Dexing Jiang shared his experience in his cultivation practice with tears in his eyes. During the presentation, he spoke from his heart, "I am so grateful to Teacher Li and Falun Dafa. Dafa not only saved me but also saved all of the family members of my spouse". There were more than 4,000 people in the conference, representing all classes of the society, including the mayor of Panjing city, journalist of the Panjing Daily, teachers, laborers, farmers, and soldiers. Everyone in the conference, from the elderly to the children, was moved to tears and offered continuous applause.
After July 20th, 1999, Jiang's Regime began the persecution of Falun Dafa. Dexing Jiang went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa two times. The first time, he walked from Benxi to Beijing. Along the way, he shared the facts with people, and told about his experience in learning Falun Dafa. After he arrived in Beijing, he could not find the office for appeals and was apprehended. He was sent back to his hometown and released. In the first lunar month of 2002, a disabled practitioner without legs in Huanren also wished to go to Beijing to appeal to the government, but was hindered by his disability. When Dexing Jiang found out, he put the disabled practitioner on his back and got back on the road to Beijing. This time, there were police check-points at each intersection in Huanren. It was raining lightly that day. Dexing Jiang climbed over a hill to bypass the check-points. He clarified the truth about the persection of Falun Dafa on the road until he arrived at Tiananmen Square. The policeman on the square saw them and was deeply touched. He said with shame, "What are we doing here? Now, even people without legs have come to appeal."
Dexing Jiang introduced the beauty of Falun Dafa to everyone. He made arrangements and organized locations where he could show Teacher's lectures on video to local people and explain the facts about Falun Dafa. Because of this, he was arrested and sent to the detention center for 6 years of imprisonment. He was in the second prison of Shenyang. In the detention centers and prisons, many policemen and prisoners recognized him and asked why he was back. He said, "In the past, I came here because of my wrongdoings; today, I came here because I want to be a good person and tell the truth." He always gives up his rice to other prisoners and behaves himself according to the standard of Dafa in every detail of life. Because people know his sordid past, they are thoroughly surprised to see the change in him. Everyone says, "What a great man the Teacher of Falun Dafa is!"
Dexing Jiang's pure and genuine commitment to Dafa touched the hearts of all those who met him. His path to return to his true origin despite previously living a life of crime, has set a remarkable example and astounded everyday people.
