Truth About the Persecution

[Qidong County, Hunan Province] Dafa practitioner Xiao Yuanwen from Buyunqiao Township was picked up by police officers in March 2004. The practitioner was detained at the County Detention Center and was tortured by criminals. Dafa practitioner Xie Jinyuan from Lianyu Township was detained at the County Detention Center, tortured, and interrogated for over an hour on March 11 by police officers. Dafa practitioner Ms. Tan Cuixiu was tortured so brutally that her face was so swollen to the point that it was unrecognizeable. It's difficult for her to eat or see properly.

[Shaoyang City, Hunan Province] Dafa practitioner Ning Tieqiao was arrested on Tiananmen Square on October 1, 2000 and escorted back to Shaodong County where he was detained for 15 days. Later he went to Shenyang City to find a job, but was arrested and then detained at the Shaodong County Detention Center. On April 7, 2001 he was transferred to the Shaoyang Brainwashing Center where Ning, Yao Yaoyuan (who passed away on June 6, 2003), and other Dafa practitioners were on a hunger strike to protest their illegal treatment. On November 13, 2001, Ning was picked up again and sent to the Shaoyang City Detention Center and held for about 80 days. On February 2, 2002 he was sent to the Shaodong Detoxification Center. On February 7, 2002 Ning Tieqiao, Li Qingjun, and Yao Yaoyuan were illegally sent to the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Changsha City, Hunan province for terms of one year each.

[Beijing] On December 14, 2002, during the 16^th Communist Party National Congress, Dafa practitioner Guan Zhishen was taken from his home. In August 2003, it's said that Guan was illegally sentenced to seven and a half years in jail, and is currently held at the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp.

[Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Facts of the torture of Falun Gong practitioners in the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp.

1. Practitioner Zhang Xiaoming was placed in a mini-cell, and forced to sit on a Tiger-Bench (1). Nails were used to repeatedly pierce his feet, which caused over 50 wounds, and a wooden plank was used to hit his head. The beating caused numerous internal injuries. He vomited blood and eventually died.
2. Shao Dianyin was beaten so severely that his sternum was broken. Instead of giving him medical care, he was forced to sit on a steel chair.
3. Li Jinfeng's hands were cuffed behind his back. He was forced to sit on a small stool with a sharp uneven top for 11 days, and was not allowed to sleep during that time. Some police officers put a bottle containing boiling water on the back of Li's hand, which burned the skin and caused a big blister to form, and then they burned his hands with a lit cigarette. They also coerced criminals to spray dichlorvos (DDVP, a kind of herbicide) on Li's body. They put him onto a Tiger-Bench and punched him with their fists.

[Jinzhou City, Hubei Province] Dafa practitioners Li Yanhua and Chen Qiji were arrested for delivering Dafa truth-clarifying materials. They are currently detained at the Shashi 2^nd Detention Center. Their families are suffering because they are financially dependent on Li and Chen.

[Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] On February 20, 2004, Fu Wenhe, Security Director of Chen Village, in Dubei Township, Xinhua District, broke into Dafa practitioner Ma Xirui's home, and had him taken to the township government office. That same afternoon, Ma was sent to the Shijiazhuang City Brainwashing Center. They also intended to ask Ma's family to pay 6,000 Yuan (2) and were refused.

[Ningjin County, Hebei Province] Dafa practitioner Ms. Yuan Shuang was arrested after going to Beijing in 2000 to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. After being detained for two months, she went on a hunger strike and was released. Back home, the township officers harassed her many times. In the Fall of 2001, police officers took her daughter, husband, and Yuan to the County Public Security Bureau, and tortured her with a high-voltage electric baton. After being detained for eight months, Yuan Shuang was sent to the Shijiazhuang Brainwashing Center where she was forced to work, deprived of sleep, and forced to watch Dafa-slandering videos. She continues to be harassed frequently even after being released.

[Handan City, Hebei Province] Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Baoyue is about 40 years old. In the fall of 2000 she was sent to the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp where her face and mouth were beaten with electric batons and rubber clubs, she was brainwashed, and she was suspended by her handcuffed wrists. Her ear was slapped so hard she cannot hear on that side. Li was released in the fall of 2001. In early 2003, Li was again sent to the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp for brainwashing. It's known that Li is unable to walk because of the torture she has suffered.

[Xinle County, Hebei Province] On November 3, 2003 Dafa practitioners Ms. Guo Yueqiao and Wang Yushu from the Hantai Township went to Dongwang Township to deliver Dafa truth-clarifying materials, but were taken by authorities to the Township Government Courtyard. Guo escaped, but police officers searched her home and harassed her family and her mother's family many times. Now Guo is unable to return to her home. Wang was sent to the Xinle Detention Center the same day, and was transferred to the Xinle Brainwashing Center 37 days later. She was released after having 1,500 Yuan extorted from her.

The Crimes of Officials

[Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Luo Diansu is the Deputy Communist Party Secretary of Yueyang City. After the crimes he committed while persecuting Falun Gong practitioners were exposed on the Internet, he wanted revenge. At midnight on March 22, 2004, he ordered police officers to search Dafa practitioner Liu Ping's home. They confiscated Dafa books, videos, and audiotapes. They claimed they had searched every Dafa practitioner's home in Yueyang City. They showed pictures of three Dafa practitioners, Xu Genyuan, Leng Xuefei, and Peng Xiaohui's and asked people all over the city if they knew the whereabouts of the practitioners.

[Heilongjiang Province] On the afternoon of March 23, 2004, Lu Guocheng, an officer from Hamei Company led police officers to search the home of Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Shuhua and to take her to the local County Detention Center. The same day, they searched the home of Dafa practitioner Han Junping. One evening in mid-March 2004, Lu Guocheng and Li Fengguang followed Dafa practitioners in a car for no reason, but left when they didn't observe any illegal behavior.

(1) A "Tiger Bench" is a small metal bench that a practitioner's knees are tightly tied to for long periods of time, and the practitioner is forced to remain motionless in this position. Usually some hard objects are inserted underneath the practitioner's lower legs or ankles to make it harder for them to tolerate this abuse.

(2) Yuan is the Chinese currency. The average monthly salary of an urban worker in China is 500 Yuan.
