1. [Nanyang City, Henan Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Xia Resists Persecution

Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Xia is an employee of Nanyang City Fangcheng County Zhongnan Factory. In January 2004, she handed out Dafa truth-clarification materials inside the factory and was falsely arrested by Fangcheng County "610 Office" (1) personnel. Later the police paraded Li Xia through the streets together with criminals who were sentenced to death. [This is a cultural revolution era propaganda tactic used to incite hatred in the public against any group the government is currently targeting and is often used against Falun Gong practitioners.] Li Xia was very righteous and unafraid. She loudly shouted, "Falun Dafa is Great" all along the street, which made the authorities very anxious and afraid of her exposing their criminal acts.

2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Several Practitioners of the Shenhe District Are Sentenced

On April 20, 2003, Shenhe Local Police Station officers arrested several Falun Gong practitioners at Pei Yuanbo's home. They are Ma Ronghua (a businessman from Nanta City), Pei Yuanbo and her husband Xiao Zhang (an English teacher), Ha Li (an English teacher at Shenyang Construction Work Institute) and his wife, and other two practitioners. They were brutally tortured. Because this information was blocked, it has only been recently learned that Ma Ronghua had been vomiting blood for more than a month as a result of the abuse she recieved. Pei Yuanbo's back was injured. Ma Ronghua was illegally sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment, Ha Li for 10 years and Pei Yuanbo for 5 years. The other practitioners have been sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp and their situations are unknown.

3. [Lijin County, Shandong Province] Wang Cuilan Suffers a Mental Collapse Due to Persecution

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Cuilan is a resident of Lijin Town, Lijin County, Shandong Province. Because Ms. Wang insists on her belief in Falun Dafa, police officers from the Lijin County "610 Office" and the public security bureau detained her four times for more than four months in 2000 and 2001. Then in 2001 they forced her into the Wangcun Labor Camp for 3 years imprisonment because she refused to give up the practice. Wang Cuilan was still determined in the forced labor camp, so the police injected her with drugs that damaged her nervous system. She is mentally disoriented at this time as a result of the drug injections.

4. [Shiyan City, Hubei Province] Falun Gong Practitioners Are Tortured in the Xiajiadian Brainwashing Center

In mid-February 2004, Hubei Province Shiyan municipal party committee secretary Zhao Bin, municipal party committee assistant deputy secretary Lan Guanheng, city politics and law secretary "610 Office" director Mi Kehong, National Security Section Chief and "610 Office" Assistant Director Zhu Bangyi reopened the Xiajiadian Brainwashing Center that had been closed for several months, and arrested 15 practitioners successively and brutally tortured them there.

Ms. Xing Ling firmly resisted the persecution and started a hunger strike once she was arrested. A week later, she became critically ill, so the police had to let her family members take her home. Ms. Chen Jing was preganant and because the police mentally tortured her day and night and did not allow her to rest, she suffered a miscarriage. In order to cover their criminal act, the police secretly released Ms. Chen Jing and threatened her with re-arrest if she told others about her miscarriage.

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Dafa Practitioner Sun Shufang Is Arrested

Changchun City Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Shufang is about 48 years old. The Yihe Road Local Police Station police arrested her on March 7, 2004 while she was telling people the facts about Falun Gong.

6. [Puyang, Henan Province] Practitioner Mr. Ren Bing is Arrested for Running Dafa a Materials Production Site

On September 22, 2003, Puyang Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ren Bing was arrested. Ren Bing was followed when he delivered Dafa truth-clarification materials to another practitioner. The police instantly arrested the other practitioner, but continued to follow Ren Bing in order to learn more information. At 11 p.m. on September 22, 2003, the police arrested him at his residence, and confiscated 2000 yuan in cash and other assets. He was detained in Puyang and then transferred to Weixian County Public Security Bureau. His whereabouts at this time are unknown.

7. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Dafa Practitioners Mr. Hua Yufeng and Ms. Wu Qingxia Are Arrested

Liaoning Province Benxi City Local Police Station visited Hua Yufeng's home on March 9, 2004. When the police found an exercise music cassette in the recorder, they started to illegally search his home. The police forcibly took away Falun Gong books and Teacher's newly published articles, and falsely arrested Hua Yufeng. He is now being detained in the Wolong Local Police Station, where they tried to force him to tell the source of the Falun Dafa articles.

8. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Qiu Tengkun Is Taken to Tianhe District Brainwashing Center

Guangzhou City Falun Gong practitioner Qiu Tengkun was sent to the Tianhe District Brainwashing Center on the morning of March 10, 2004, after he had been detained for nearly two years at Tianhe District Detention Center in Guangzhou City. Because Qiu resisted the persecution on the way to the brainwashing center, he was tortured so badly that his mouth was full of blood.

9. [Yanjin County, Henan Province] Ms. Lu Xiuju Is Kidnapped and Brought to the Shibalihe Female Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Lu Xiuju, a Falun Gong practitioner in Yanjin County, Henan Province is over 40 years old. Since the persecution started, Yanjin County police officers frequently searched her home, harassed her and detained her several times at the county detention center.

Around February 25, 2004, Yanjin County Public Security Bureau arrested her and took her from her home. She did not return, and a few days later, her family members learned she had been sentenced to two years of forced labor at Shibalihe Female Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City. At the same time, the police also searched some other practitioners' homes.

At the end of February, Shijiazhuang City police destroyed three Dafa truth-clarification material production sites and arrested at least six practitioners. Dafa practitioners Ms. Xi Lili, Ms. Guo Lijuan, Ms. Jiao Yanqiao, and Ms. Liu Huixin are now being held at Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center, Li Yuanyuan (alias) and Zheng Ping's whereabouts are still not known. The police did not notify the practitioners' family members about the arrests and refused to answer their queries, therefore the practitioners' family members are extremely worried about their situation.

On February 28, 2004, Nanning City Dafa practitioners He Yuyan and He Yuying (sisters, both over 50) were distributing truth-clarification flyers in Santang. The local police arrested them and detained them in Nanning City No. 2 Detention Center.

12. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] More Than Ten Dafa Practitioners Are on Hunger Strike

According to reliable information, more than ten Dafa practitioners who are being detained in Leshan Detention Center, Leshan City, Sichuan Province have conducted a hunger strike for several days to protest the persecution. 13. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] "610 Office" Arrests Practitioner Ms. Zhang Shunying

On February 25, 2004, Tianhe Comprehensive Program of the Public Order Office (it is actually a "610 Office") arrested Guangzhou City Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Shunying, and also arrested her husband because he helped her to resist the persecution. Due to health reasons, he was later released but kept under 24 hour surveillance.

14. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] The Public Security Bureau Arrests Practitioner Mr. Wang Qiang

Falun Gong practitioner Wang Qiang of Wangpi Village, Sunji Town, Shouguang City is a sincere man. In December 2003, because he practices Falun Gong, Shouguang City public security bureau police officers climbed over a wall to get into his house while it was dark and quiet and the villagers were still in bed. The police also kicked Wang Qiang's gate. At that time, Wang Qiang and his wife shouted loudly to let their neighbors know what was happening and all, the surrounding dogs also started barking. The villagers, not knowing what had happened, quickly woke up and ran over. Even though they all know Falun Gong is good and Wang Qiang is innocent, nobody dared to stop the police.

The policemen cuffed Wang Qiang's wife and took them to the Sunji Town Local Police Station. Their young son, in the fifth grade, was left alone until Wang Qiang's wife walked home at 4 p.m.

Wang Qiang has been detained in the Shouguang City Public Security Bureau for more than 80 days. His family members are very anxious and restless because they have no information about him. Shouguang City Public Security Bureau policemen extorted more than 20,000 yuan in cash and personal property from Wang Qiang, his family has had to borrow money repeatedly.

15. [Jilin Province] Jilin Women's Jail Prohibits Dafa Practitioners to See Family Members

prohibits Dafa practitioners that refuse to wear their prison number because they are illegally detained and are not criminals, to see their family members.

Since July 20, 2003, Dafa practitioners detained in the Jilin Women's Jail realized that practitioners have not broken any laws so they cannot be considered to be prisoners. Therefore the Dafa practitioners removed the prison number identification that every inmate is required to wear. Prison authorities at the Jilin Province Heizuizi Women's Jail then retaliated by stating that any Dafa practitioner who does not wear the prison number identification is prohibited from seeing their family members. Many practitioners' family members traveled from far away, but they were repeatedly turned away outside the gate and not allowed their right to visit detained family members.

16. [Kaifeng, Henan Province] Dafa Practitioners Wang Deping, Wu Lei and Fan Yulin Are Abducted

The police arrested Kaifeng Dafa practitioners Wang Deping, Wu Lei and Fan Yulin a week ago when they were posting truth-clarification flyers. They are currently being held in Kaifeng No. 4 Section which is ruled by Xinhua Local Police Station.

17. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Police Arrest Dafa Practitioner Ms. Tan Runmei

Police arrested Dafa Practitioner Ms. Tan Runmei, 48 years of age, on February 24, 2004 when she was clarifying the truth in Santang, Hengnan County. She is now being held in Wangjiawan Detention Center, Hengyang City. Her husband Yan Shaoyuan (the former principal of Hengyang City Xinmin Primary School) was tortured to death by Hengyang City police officers in 2003. The police stole her family property, worth 100,000 yuan.

18. [Jinchang, Gansu Province] Practitioner Ms. Zhu Lanxiu Walked Out with Righteous Thoughts

On February 13, 2004, Gansu Province Jinchang Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhu Lanxiu was handing out Dafa truth-clarification materials. When she arrived at police officer Dai Baoji's home she turned and was about to leave when Dai Baoji suddenly grabbed her and took her against her will to the Jinchuan Company police department. Jinchuan Company party committee assistant secretary Deng Shaojun was in charge of the persecution of Falun Gong and personally directed the persecution of Zhu Lanxiu. Ms. Zhu appeared to have a serious heart disease. The police had to release her 8 days later, but closely monitor her at present.

19. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Ying Conducted a Hunger Strike to Resist the Extended Imprisonment

Jilin City "610 Office", public security bureau and Chuanying Public Security Sub-bureau arrested Jilin Province Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Ying in March 2002, because she produced Dafa truth-clarification materials. She suffered greatly from torture in the detention center. She could not walk as a result of the abuse by police, however she still did not compromise. Later she was sentenced to two years of forced labor at Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City.

She was detained in No. 2 Squad of No. 2 Brigade and suffered all means of torture, brainwashing and long periods of being forced to work long hours. Her determination to firmly practice Falun Gong was not moved. On March 4, 2004, her two year term was due, so her family came to take her home from the forced labor camp. But the police extended her term because she refused to give up her belief. She conducted a hunger strike to resist further persecution. The police shouted, "You won't walk out here if you do not renounce your belief in Falun Dafa!".

20. [Guiping City, Guangxi Province] Police Arrest Dafa Practitioner Ms. Yu Quanzhen

At 7 a.m. on March 11, 2004, the head of Guiping City Public Security Bureau Political Section, Liu Yongxiang led a few police officers and rushed into Yu Quanzhen's home. They ordered Yu to open the computer and then illegally searched her home. The police confiscated all Falun Gong books, materials and a printer. Yu's current situation is unknown.

21. [Nehe City, Heilongjiang Province] The Persecution Cases Dafa Practitioners

Dafa Practitioner Mr. Wang Yanyou lives at Hongguang Village, Liuhe Town, Nehe City, Heilongjiang Province. He was taken to Nehe City Forced Labor Camp because he kept practicing Falun Gong. Wang's wife could not withstand such abuse of her husband and mentally collapsed. This matter shocked people in nearby villages who heard the story.

Dafa Practitioner Ms. Du Yuling is a former employee of a state-operated pharmacy in Laha Town, Nehe City, Heilongjiang Province. She was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment somewhere in Harbin, the actual location is unknown. A Dafa practitioner surnamed Guo was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment, the place of his detenion is also unclear. Another practitioner surnamed Wang was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor, and has since been released.

22. [Nanyang City, Henan Province] Several Practitioners Are Arrested at an Experience Sharing Conference

On the morning of February 25, 2004, twenty Dafa practitioners of Fangcheng County, Nanyang City, Henan Province held an experience sharing conference. Within less than 10 minutes of the start of the conference, someone banged on the door. When the door was opened, a large number of police officers and "610 Office" personnel rushed in and arrested all the practitioners. Practitioners whose names were known include: Ms. Sun Xiaojuan, Ms. Shan Shumei, Pan Yushen, Mr. Yu Hao, and Xiao Xiang. The police released 6 practitioners that night, and captured another 2 female practitioners on February 28. Fangcheng County prison is now detaining 19 practitioners. The details are under investigation.

23. [Sanhe City, Hebei Province] Dafa Practitioner Mr. Zhang Lixin Is Arrested

On March 2, 2004, Dafa Practitioner Zhang Lixin of No. 3 Railway Bureau in Sanhe City, Hebei Province distributed truth-clarification materials in Yanjiao North China Science and Technology Institute. He was discovered by the patrol security guard and taken to the police department. He is now being held in Sanhe City Detention Center and not allowed to have visitors.
