Facts of the Persecution

1) Wherever Jiang Zemin goes, he brings only unspeakable suffering to innocent Falun Gong practitioners. His visit to Xi'an City, Shanxi Province in March 2002 intensified the persecution of the illegally detained practitioners in Shanxi Province Women's Forced Labor Camp. Jiang gave the forced labor camp 800,000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.] as a special funding to persecute practitioners. As a result, the forced labor camp increased its brutal tortures of the detained practitioners. The practitioners are deprived of sleep, tortured, handcuffed for a long period of time, and hung up in the air in straitjackets. Inmates who are drug addicts are used to monitor and restrict the personal freedoms of practitioners, and to change or add false sentences to Teacher's articles as a way to spread rumors and delude practitioners detained for a long time.

2) Liaoning Province Architecture Design Institute Employees: We are the colleagues of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Huiyu who has been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment. He is currently detained in Jinzhou City Nanshan Jail and suffering from physical and mental torments. We call for his immediate release. His friends need his compassion and righteousness, his customers need his excellent design work, and his child needs his love.

3) On the 19^th and 20^th of April 2003, policemen from Chenzhou City, Anren County and Yongxing County arrested 12 practitioners and 6 non-practitioners in Yongxing County for hanging up Falun Gong banners and distributing truth-clarification materials and VCDs in Anren County. The practitioners were cruelly tortured by the policemen when they arrived at Anren County Public Security Bureau. They were deprived of sleep for three consecutive days and nights, handcuffed behind their back; their feet were shackled, and they were kicked and beaten etc. When practitioners fainted from the tortures, the police would pour water on them and continue to beat them. Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Xu Yunyan's right leg was instantly broken. The practitioners went on a hunger strike, but were force-fed. The police also extorted money from the family members of the 18 detained people.

4) Ruyang County, Henan Province police perseucte Falun Gong practitioners and force them to disclose the location of the truth-clarifying materials production site. If the practitioners refused to say anything, four to five policemen took turns torturing them by covering up practitioners' eyes with adhesive tape and physically assaulting them, tightly tying them up with ropes, slapping them in the face with hard objects, forcing them to kneel down or stand for a long time, and depriving them of sleep. Dafa practitioner Guo Niao was forced to stand all night, and when he could not bear it, he fainted in the Political Protection Section of the Public Security Bureau. The police even threatened him, "We can torture you to death. If you are capable, go ahead and sue us."

5) The atrocities of policemen in Xili Local Police Station, Qiaoxi District Public Security Bureau in Shijiazhuang City: On April 6, 2000, Dafa practitioners Zhang Suqin, Mu Qinglan, and Wang Xiulai (deceased) went to appeal in Beijing. They were arrested by police Cui Yongke of the Xili Local Police Station, and handcuffed in the underground iron cage by vice director Shi Jun. They were not allowed to eat, sleep or use the toilet for two straight days and nights. Director Zhen Lanjun also ordered others to handcuff Mu Qinglan to the iron window outside and Zhang Suqin to the electric pole, disregarding the weather.

6) On September 10, 1999, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. and Mrs. Wang Zhongyi of Fushun City, Xinbin County, Liaoning Province were arrested by the director of the local police station, Zhao Zhenduo and policeman Zhu Mingzhi They were taken to Xinbin County Detention Center. At that time, they were working on the farm and took care of two elderly parents over 70 years old and two young children. As they were both detained, no one at home could harvest the crops. Mrs. Wang was sent to Fushun Forced Labor Camp to attend the brainwashing session, and had 1000 Yuan extorted from her. Wang Zhongyi was illegally detained for four and a half months, and suffered many tortures. Shangjiahe Town Politics and Law Secretary Sun Jundong personally went to Wang's home and threatened his parents.Wang was released only after 6000 Yuan was extorted from him.

7) On May 13, 2002, Hu Shijun, a 51 year old Falun Gong practitioner of Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province was deceived by policeman Gao Feng from his home to the Guangming Local Police Station. He has continuously been detained in Hegang City No. 2 Detention Center and Hegang City Forced Labor Camp. He has suffered inhumane torture. On December 6, 2002, Hu and 22 other practitioners solemnly declared that they would continue to practice Falun Gong. As a result, the prison guards tortured them ruthlessly. This involved pinching Hu Shijun's underarms, throat and testicles, gouging his eyeballs, and scraping his rib cage with the cap of a pen. Prisoner Zhou Yunlong poured cold water on Hu's head, while the squadron commander Kang used steel needles to stab into the back of his hands, then flicked the rear part of the needle to make the needle shake which caused much pain for the practitioner. Guard Yang Lixin even threatened that, "If you do not transform, we will have gangsters look for your son at his school and beat him every day."

8) From the 12^th to the 15^th of November 2002, in order to please the higher authorities, Harbin Drug Rehabiliation Center Manager Chen Guiqing, Chief Zhang Ping, Chief Zhao Wei, Li Quanming, political instructor Ning Lixin, Niu Xiaoyun and others carried out the so called "fortification fight" on female Falun Gong practitioners. They irregularly shaved the steadfast practitioners' heads, brought them to the basement of the center, handcuffed them to a ring on the ground, forced them to squat, and deprived them of sleep. They were also blindfolded with a cloth, and their mouths gagged and bound tightly with cloth. A basin full of water was placed behind every practitioner. If they could no longer squat, they had to sit in the water. Once a practitioner was pressed in the basin of water and shocked with electric batons for nine hours. Some practitioners' heads were held in the water with a steel basin placed on top, and the electricity discharged through the steel basin. When this occurred, the practitioner fainted very shortly. Some practitioners were drenched with cold water after their clothes were stripped off, leaving them in only their undergarments.Some guards even inserted an electric baton into their vaginas. The practitioners were tied to a bed and their mouths were tightly gagged, but they still struggled to resist the persecution with all their strength.

On February 10, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners were invited to Rotary Club meeting. Ms. Zhu Wanqi gave a 1 hour speech at the meeting of Taiwan Taoyuan District Rotary Club. She introduced Falun Gong and shared the many benefits she received after taking up the practice. She also clarified the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. Many of the attendees were touched by Ms. Zhu' positive experience with the practice and some members of the club even asked practitioners to show them the exercises.
