Facts of the Persecution

--A Falun Dafa practitioner in her 40s, Ms. Xia Aixiang from Qiujiahe Village, Wutu Town, Cangle County, Shandong Province was abducted on lunar calendar date June 27, 2001 during the Fangshan Fair, while she was passing out Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials. It has been almost three years since then. It has been discovered that she has been tortured severely, but her family still does not know where she is.

--On March 7, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Wang Lianhui, who is a teacher in the Northeast Normal College, was abducted by Changchun City police. He was detained in the Changchun City No.3 Detention Center on March 9, 2004. It later became apparent that this abduction was part of a bigger action planned by Changchun City police to conduct a large--scale arrest of Falun Dafa practitioners. About 200 Falun Dafa practitioners have been abducted.

--Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Huang Xiuqing from Jieyang City, Guangdong Province has been abducted many times because she upholds her faith in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. On February 24, 2004, she was abducted by local police from her home, and was sent to the brainwashing class held in the Guangzhou City Legal Education School.

--On March 6, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Liu Yumin went to her sister's home in Hongshi Village, Ying Lan Township, Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province. She passed out some truth-clarifying materials when passing by Zixingtun Village, and was reported to Village Head Qu Haiping (male). Qu followed Ms. Liu to her sister's home, and reported Liu to the County "610 Office" (1). Police arrested Ms. Liu and detained her in the County Detention Center. Ms. Liu Yumin is currently on hunger strike to protest.

--The "610 Office" and the police force in Hefei City region, Anhui Province arrested Falun Dafa practitioners before the Political Consultation Conference and the People's Congress. On March 2, 2004, Hefei City police stormed into Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Jin Ling's parents' home, arrested Ms. Jin Ling, took her to the Wulidun Substation, and detained her in the No.1 Detention Center. News came that even more Falun Dafa practitioners were abducted from their homes, and their homes were ransacked, such as Ms. Tian Zhongfeng, Ms. Tian Zhongxia, Ms. Zhao Huizhen, and Ms. Liu Yuying. At present, they are all detained in the No.1 Detention Center.

Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Li Hongrui from Kaiyuan City, Liaoning Province was abducted on February 5, 2004 by police from the Tiexi Police Substation. Because of his physical condition, police failed to send him to labor camp directly, and had to send him home. On March 8, 2004, Mr. Li Hongrui was abducted again while he was teaching at school.

--Ms. Kong Fanlian is a 53-year-old retired employee of the Mechanical Plant of the Shenli Oil Field in Hebei Province. For keeping their faith in Falun Dafa, her whole family is being suppressed by her employer. Her son was abducted and brought to a brainwashing center in 2002, right before the 16^th Party Congress, because he refused to give up practicing. Two months later, her employer abducted her from her home and brought her to the brainwashing center as well, despite the fact that her 80-year-old mother needed her care and supervision at home. Kong escaped and became homeless for two months in order to avoid being arrested at home. In August 2003, Ms. Kong was abducted and taken back to the brainwashing center, where she was locked up for four months. Besides physical torture, she had 20,000 Yuan (2) extorted from her.

--Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Yin Yuanzhen is a resident of the Seventh Village, Yuxi Town, Tongnan County, Zhongqing City. She began the practice of Falun Dafa in October 1998, which resulted in the complete disappearance of the many ailments she suffered including, arthritis, kidney stones, heart disease, stomach problems, and intestinal problems, and other health problems. After July 20, 1999, local workers often came to her home to arrest her and ransacked her home. In October 2002, she was again imprisoned in a detention center, where she went on hunger strike to protest. Police force-fed her on the 7^th day. She does not know what they put into her stomach, but she felt very sick afterwards. She vomited, and had diarrhea; so much so that her life was in danger. She passed out in the detention center after being force-fed. Her husband took her home, while police continued to harass her constantly, trying to force her to write the "three statements" (3).

(1) "610 Office": an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

(2) Yuan: The Chinese currency; the average monthly salary of an urban worker is 500 Yuan.

(3) "three statements": practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write these statements as proof that they have given up their belief. Created by the "610 Office," the three statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners.
