Persecution facts

Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Conghui, 18, is a resident of Chicheng County, Hebei Province. She attended No. 1 High School in the Xuanhua District, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. One day she handed a slip of paper that read, "Falun Dafa is great" to a classmate. This student reported her to the school officials, which resulted in the school forcing her to withdraw in February 2004. In late February 2004 Zhang Conghui went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and was arrested. She is currently being held at the Chicheng County Detention Center where the guards torture her in an attempt to force her write a "Guarantee Statement." (1) In the morning of February 28, 2004, the fourth day of the illegal detention, Ms. Zhang held a hunger strike to protest the persecution.

Persecutors at Jilin University unlawfully fired four Dafa-practitioner faculty members. They are Wang Yuejian, Feng Gan, Meng Juanjuan, and Lui Yong.

Practitioner Shen Jianli, a Dafa practitioner with a Master's degree was tortured to death prior to that.

Dafa practitioner Zhao Bo was tortured to near-death and the persecutors suspended his salary, claiming Zhao Bo had stopped working.

Practitioner Zeng Lingwen, a professor in his 60s, was sent to a labor camp for several years.

Atrocities committed at the Jiaonan City brainwashing class held by the "610 Office" in Shandong Province: Dafa practitioners are forced to watch 14 to 15 or more hours of Dafa-slandering videos. Every meal consists of a small steamed bun and a slice of salted vegetable. Many practitioners are constipated; their complexion is of a sick yellow pallor. They are often dizzy, nauseated, and shaky, as they suffer tremendous physical abuse. Dafa practitioner Zhang Shouqian was forbidden to sleep for five days and five nights. Practitioner Wang Jinxiang was forced to sit in a metal chair for six days and six nights.

Determined Dafa practitioners at the Huhehaote Female Labor Camp in Inner Mongolia AR are thrown into isolation rooms where they are savagely tortured. The perpetrators force the practitioners to work 15 to 16 hours a day, in addition to the cruel tortures. Practitioner Li Changlian was beaten, and the scars on her arms remained more than one year after the incident. Practitioner Zhang Xiuxia was hung up for 18 nights and in the daytime was subjected to brainwashing. Practitioner Tang Sufen was cuffed to a metal windowsill in the cold weather for so long that the cuff stuck to her hand and the guards couldn't unlock the handcuffs. The guard ordered inmates to pour boiling water on her hands, which severely injured Tang Sufen's arms and hands. The guards also poured boiling water on the back of practitioner Fan Yuhui. They shocked practitioner Meng Qingzhen. They also arbitrarily extended the practitioners' terms.

Practitioners in Guangxing Town, Guanghan City, Sichuan Province began to suffer when the persecution began on July 20, 1999. Zhang Dahong, the town magistrate, Liu Yuangao, head of the local police department, as well as Zhong Xianchun, deputy head of the police department and perpetrator Xiao Kaishang ransacked 33 Dafa practitioners' homes. Sometimes they ransack the homes a dozen times. Practitioners who went to Beijing to appeal, who did the Dafa exercises in Qiaotou Park, or those who exchanged cultivation experiences in the past four years were all abducted, tortured, and fined. Sixty-four practitioners were severely punished and forty practitioners were fined a total of 41,050 Yuan. Practitioners Zhao Xianchang and Ms. Luo Shizhao were sentenced to two years of forced labor, and Ms. Luo Shizhao was illegally fired. Practitioner Wu Tianchong was sentenced to one year of forced labor. Many practitioners were detained numerous times. Practitioner Zhang Lianli was held 60 days in a brainwashing class, and practitioner Chen Guiping was held for 30 days.

Currently, persecutors at the Weining Labor Camp in Benxi City are still using the torture method called "Stretch Room" where they hang the practitioner and stretch his four limbs in different directions. Dafa practitioners Liu Bo and Xu Guowei were tortured with the "Stretch Room" for seven days. Practitioner Zhang Yunsheng was also tortured this way. His term expired on January 15, 2004 but he is still being held. Practitioner Yang Manzhi's term expired on February 12, 2004 but he is still being held. Practitioner Wang Wenan's term will expire on April 24, 2004 but it was extended by more than two months.

On February 23, Wang Xiurong, Party secretary for the Dajing District, Taiji Administration District, Beipiao City, Liaoning Province led two police officers. They abducted Dafa practitioners Liu Wenrong and Guo Fengying from home and took away Dafa books and truth clarification materials as well as 1,300 Yuan in cash. The two practitioners are currently being held at Beipiao City's Detention Center.

Dafa practitioner Mr. Liang Guoman from Huludao City was abducted three times and sent to the Huludao Labor Camp where he was whipped with a lead club covered with spikes, shocked with electric batons, forced to do slave labor, and force-fed. He was tortured to near death and had to undergo surgery at a hospital.

My name is Guo Zhiwen. I am a Dafa practitioner and I have lived in Luyang Township, Xishui County, Hubei Province. My two daughters Su Hong and Wang Guihong are also Dafa practitioners. My elder daughter, Su Hong, was abducted twice, in March 2000 and May 2001 [Chinese lunar calendar]. The guards stripped her naked, sexually assaulted her and tortured her for seven days. After she was released she left home to avoid illegal arrest, but was arrested several months later. Seven months later she was sentenced to seven years of forced labor and is currently being held at the Wuhan Female Prison. My younger daughter Wang Guihong was arrested in May 2001 and was held for more than nine months, during which time she suffered cruel tortures. The perpetrators didn't even spare me, a 70-year-old woman. In December 2000 the police detained me for nine days and fined me 3,500 Yuan. They also threatened and blackmailed my family.

My name is Fan Jing. I am a Dafa practitioner from Weihui City, Henan Province. I went to Beijing with other practitioners to validate Dafa on January 1, 2000. I was arrested at the Anyang Train Station and was brought back to the local detention center where I was held for half a month. The detention center authorities fined my work unit 50,000 Yuan. From then on, my work unit paid me only 100 Yuan each month. I went to Beijing for the second time on November 24, 2001 and was sent to the Tiananmen Police Station. The police beat my head with rubber clubs until bumps swelled on my head. In the evening, police sent more than 30 Dafa practitioners, including me, to the Xicheng Detention Center where the guards shocked us with electric batons. We held a hunger strike to protest the persecution and were force-fed. I was taken back to the local detention center on November 30 and held there for one month. I was then illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor and was sent to the Shibalihe Labor Camp in Zhenzhou City.

Ms. Zhao Yuxia, 42, is a Falun Dafa practitioner who worked at the Xinxiang County People's Drug Factory in Henan Province. She went to appeal for Dafa in December 2000 and was arrested and detained at the Xinxiang County Detention Center for one month, and then sentenced to three years of forced labor on January 10, 2001. They took her to the Shibalihe Female Labor Camp in Zhenzhou City where she was unmercifully tortured. During the time she was held at the labor camp she was forced to divorce her husband. When she was released on February 23, 2004 she had to live in her mother's home, and the persecutors constantly followed and harassed her, even at midnight. They also asserted pressure on the officials at Zhao Yuxia's son's school and prevented her child from seeing his mother.

In Shashi District, Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, more than ten Dafa practitioners were sentenced to "reform through labor," the sentences were from three to five years against these good people including Chen Youhong, Liu Yazhen, Chen Jingjiang, Yang Xianfeng, Deng Tianyu, Xu Ying, Tang Daifu, Li Zhangming, Shi Yuliang, Chen Jiawang, and Zhou Derong.

More than 20 practitioners were illegally sent to labor camps. Practitioners Guan Mingfeng, Zong Aifang, Song Chang, Fu Wanhua, Xianhui, Jiang Dalin and Jin Haiyan were sent to labor camps twice, and Rui Niangui, Liu Yong, Xie Lijuan, Dai Rong, Zhen Guanfen, Wang Qong, Li Yongfang, Zhen Xiaofang, Nai Xinfang, Cai Xiaolian, and Zhang Yuhua were also detained. More than 200 practitioners were held overtime at the detention centers. Many practitioners were sent to brainwashing classes.

On July 20, 2003 several Dafa practitioners left Xining, Qinghai City for Duoba in Huangzhong County and Huangyuan County to send forth righteous thoughts and clarify the truth. They sat in a 2000 Santana [car] owned by practitioner Wei Haiming. One practitioner was arrested and interrogated, but he refused to give any information. The police held him at the No. 2 Detention Center in Xining City under criminal detention and released him on August 19, 2003 because his friend talked to the police. However, the police withheld 210,000 Yuan cash and confiscated the 2000 Santana worth 240,000 Yuan from the practitioner.
