Facts of the Persecution

--Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Conghui is a junior at the Xuanhua No.1 High School. Before finals' week in 2003, she passed her schoolmate a note that said, "Falun Dafa is Good," and was reported immediately. On (lunar calendar date) January 10, the school administration called her parents. They wanted her to withdraw from their school, and promised to give her a transfer certificate and give back her tuition. Her parents took her belongings back home, and were prepared to transfer her to another school. They are keeping a close watch on her at home, and do not allow her to leave the house.

--On February 2, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Zheng Xiuqin in Kangbao County, Hebei Province was abducted and taken to the Kangbao County Detention Center. She was tortured until she was unable to eat on her own. Police then force-fed her. She passed out, and was sent to a hospital for emergency care.

--Ms. Yang Xiuying, age 58, was a Falun Dafa practitioner in Wangshuang Village, Tianmu Town, Beichen District, Tianjin City. After July 20, 1999, Ms. Yang was detained for 15 days by police in Beijiao Station. She was sent to a brainwashing class on January 21, 2001 (right before the Chinese New Year). Because she never gave in, she was sentenced to 18 months in a forced labor camp. She was detained in the Banqiao Women's Labor Camp in Dagang District, Tianjin City, where she was beat up, shocked with an electric baton, had her hair pulled out, was locked in a metal cage, locked in a pig sty, and deprived of sleep. Her thumb was fractured from police brutality, and one of her feet was wounded. Police officer Kou Na (female) confined her to an icy cold solitary compartment that was only one meter square in size. Once Ms. Yang was tied up to a tree, and a German Shepard police dog was set on her to bite her. Yang was tortured until she was extremely weak. Not being given food to eat, she was only skin and bones. Her term was extended after 18 months passed. She has been in that labor camp for more than three years, and has still not been released.

--Ms. Li Wensu, age 40, was dismissed from her job in the Gaocheng City Education Beurau because she practiced Falun Dafa. She was detained four times, and 4,000 yuan was extorted from her without any receipts being issued [500 yuan is equal to the average monthly salary of an urban worker in China]. On February 13, 2001, she was sentenced to three years of labor camp. She was inhumanely tortured in the Gaoyang Labor Camp. The doctors from the Gaoyang Hospital diagnosed her with diabetes, and a heart disease. In January 2003, she was only 30 kg in weight, her face was a yellow-green color, and she could not walk at all. The labor camp was afraid to take responsibility for her death, so they sent her home when she was dying.

--Before June, 2003, Ms. Shao Bixia from Liuan City, Anhui Province was sentenced to labor camp again with a three-year term. Camp police officer Zhou Mingfeng tortured her by forcing her to stand several days without rest. Police forced her to watch videos or read books that slandered Falun Dafa. She lost almost 20 pounds in just a couple months.

--On March 2, 2004, Ms. Yang Shuzhen, a retired employee of the Jinxi Petroleum Chemicals Factory in Huludao city, Liaoning Province, was lured to the factory under false pretenses by police officer Sun Jimin, among others. Instead of "having a talk with her former employer," she was sent to the Lianshan District Police Station. No one knows what happened to her. Her husband, Mr. Liu Hongjun (age 58, also a Falun Dafa practitioner) has been harassed many times by police and the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems]. The Party secretary of the factory Sun Jingyi withheld Yang's retirement salary in 2001, and stopped payment beginning in April or May 2003. Mr. Liu Hongjun and Ms. Yang Shuzhen had to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being wrongfully arrested at home since June 2002. Just recently they were arrested.

--Ms. Xie Shuping, age 41, was a history teacher in the Liuhe County No.10 High School in Jilin Province. All her health problems disappeared after practicing Falun Dafa, such as a stomach disease and a gallbladder problem. In the past four years when Dafa was being persecuted, she was arrested several times. On August 7, 2002, the school secretary tried to force her sign a "Guarantee Statement" [A statement to declare that he or she is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantees not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners]. She became homeless in order to avoid being wrongfully arrested at home.

--Ms. Yang Qiaolan is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Yangquan City, Shanxi Province. She went to Beijing to appeal on July 24, 1999, and was arrested and brought to the Gucheng Stadium in Beijing. She was detained ten days after being sent back to Yangquan City. On November 27, 1999, just because she visited her fellow practitioner, she was interrogated for seven days. She declared, "Falun Gong is not evil, and has no centralized organization. It only teaches people to cultivate themselves and be good." She was then sentenced to three years of prison. She is still being closely monitored, and harassed after her release on November 26, 2002.

Villains' Evil Deeds

Police in Hanshan Station in Handan City, Hebei Province arrested Falun Dafa practitioners during the 16^th Party Congress in 2002, often using violence. Many practitioners were brutally tortured. Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Zhao Tiefeng was abducted by Hanshan Police. Police officers Dang Dianjun and Xing Jianjun beat him up, and shocked him with multiple electric batons on his body, especially his chest. They did this until he passed out. After three days of torture, police sent him to the No.1 Detention Center. Mr. Zhao's four limbs had tremors for the next two months. Police also ransacked his home, and took away all of his valuables. Mr. Zhao's wife is a teacher, police took away 30,000 Yuan in tuition that she had collected as well [in China, it is common practice for teachers to collect tuition, then pay the school cashier].
