1. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Yufeng Is Tortured Until Her Lower Limbs Are Paralyzed
Ms. Sun Yufeng, 43, is a Falun Gong practitioner who was arrested on March 5, 2002. She is now detained at Harbin City Drug Rehabiliation Center in Heilongjiang Province. She has suffered many inhuman tortures including high-voltage electric shock, which have resulted in her lower limbs becoming paralyzed.
2. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Detention Center Brutally Force-feeds Eleven Falun Gong Pracctitioners Who Are on Hunger Strike
According to the letter from a reader in China, under the coersion of the Fuyang City "610 Office," [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] chief Qi Chenggang and Fuyang Detention Center personnel started to force-feed eleven Falun Gong practitioners who were conducting a collective hunger strike to protest their persecution. The hunger strike started on the afternoon of Feburary 5.
According to the letter, Fuyang Detention Center currently is strictly blocking information, and does not allow practitioners to meet their families. We call on all kind-hearted people to pay attention to this matter, and request that the Fuyang Detention Centre to unconditionly release the11 practitioners who are conducting hunger strikes.
3. [Jianyang County, Sichuan Province] 62-Year-Old Ms. Jiang Yurong Is Detained
Ms. Jiang Yurong, 62, is a Falun Gong practitioner who resides in Xinsheng Village, Xinhe Township, Dongxi Town, Jianyang County. She went to Beijing to validate Dafa on the first day after the 2000 Chinese New Year, which was February 5 on the solar calendar. She was arrested in Tiananmen Square, and taken back to her home county by her local government. Ms. Jiang was detained at the Jianyang Detention Center, forced to pay a 3,000 Yuan fine, [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China] as well as 1,000 Yuan for so called "travel expenses." Her arrest was announced across the whole county in an effort to defame her reputation, and the village cadre Huang Daofu even shamelessly asked her husband to reimburse the 15 Yuan used to pay the announcement fee that the government had paid. Ms. Jiang was detained for 15 days and released after paying 150 Yuan for living expenses. She is now required to report regularly to cadres Huang Daofu and Wu Bihua, and monitored every day. She is not allowed to go out at night, and is often taken to brainwashing centers in Jiancheng Town, Dongxi Town, and Xinhe Township. The police randomly arrive at her home to search for Falun Gong materials and to interrogate her.
On February 8, 2002, Ms. Jiang Yurong went to visit her daughter in Sanyi Town, Pengzhou City. She was arrested and taken to Jianyang Detention Center. She and other practitioners collectively conducted hunger strikes for about 70 days. When her family members and neighbors saw that she had been persecuted to such a high degree, they asked the local government for her release, saying, "She is so old and did not commit any crime, why do you persecute her like this? If anything happens to her, you must take responsibility." The local government feared having to take responsibility, so they had to ask the detention center to release her. When the detention center asked that Ms. Jiang pay for her living expenses, her family members refused the unreasonable request. Ms. Jiang has been monitored constantly since her return home.
4. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Ma Yongqiang Is Arrested
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ma Yongqiang, 32, is an employee of the quality testing section of Tianyuan Corporation in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. His residence is at No. 127, Building No. 28, Section 5 People's Street, Jinlian New Village. Around 9:00 a.m. on January 29, 2004, while he was handing out Falun Gong truth-clarification materials at Petroleum Park, he was arrested by police. They took away more than 600 Yuan in cash and a mobile phone from him. Mr. Ma Yongqiang is now detained in Cell No. 3 of Jinzhou City No. 1 Detention Center, and his guard is surnamed Xing. At noon of the same day, Xu Baojun, the workshop director of Tianyuan Corporation, led three policemen from Hongxing Local Police Station (one surnamed Wang, one surnamed Hou, and another nicknamed "Brother Guan") to search Mr. Ma's home. Mr. Ma's family members were not home at the time. Falun Gong materials, literature, and some personal items were confiscated. Xu Baojun even suggested he would soon fire Mr. Ma because he was a Falun Gong practitioner.

5. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Yu Guizhen Is Arrested
Ms. Yu Guizhen is a Falun Gong practitioner at the Jinzhou City Daugher's Lake Paper Mill. On January 20, 2004, she was arrested by Taihe District Public Security Bureau policemen at her relative's home in Jinzhou City. She is now detained at the Jinzhou City No. 1 Detention Center.
6. [Yanji City, Jilin Province] Li Fengyun and a Practitioner Surnamed Sheng Are Sent to A Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Li Fengyun and a practitioner with the surname of Sheng are Falun Gong practitioners from Yanji City, Jilin Province. They were arrested by Chaoyang Local Police Station policemen while handing out truth-clarification materials during the Chinese New Year. At Chaoyang Local Police Station, police tortured them in an attempt to extract a confession from them, and then sent them to theYanji City Detention Center. They conducted a hunger strike to resist the persecution.
At the Yanji City Detention Center, Falun Gong practitioners were typically force-fed after 3 to 4 days of conducting hunger strikes. At present, however, the police brutally force-fed them on the first day. The force-feeding was horrible to witness. An effort was made to insert a rubber tube through the practitioner's nostril, but the tube was often inserted into the trachea and nearly caused practitioners to suffocate. Within less than a week, Mr. Li was sentenced to one year of forced labor and Mr. Sheng to two years. They have now been sent to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City.

7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhou Qiaohang Is Illegally Sentenced
Ms. Zhou Qiaohang, 29, was born in Qingan County, Heilongjiang Province. She is a university graduate, and the person in charge of technology at Harbin City Xinyifang Science and Technology Limited Company. Ms. Zhou was arrested by Harbin City Public Security Bureau on November 12, 2002. The public security police interrogated her at a secret location, brutally torturing her with electric batons, forcing her to sit on a "Tiger Bench,"* depriving her of sleep, and attempting extract a confession from her by means of torture. On June 22, 2003 Ms. Zhou was sentenced to a ten-year prison term by Harbin City, Nangang District People's Court, despite insufficient evidence that any crime had been committed. Ms. Zhou is now being detained by the collective training division of Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison (No. 387 Xuefu Road, Harbin City).
* Tiger Bench - Practitioners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately 20 cm (6 inches) tall with their knees tied together. With their hands tied behind their backs or sometimes placed on their knees, they are forced to sit straight up and look straight ahead. They are not allowed to turn their heads, close their eyes, talk to anyone or move at all. Several inmates are assigned to watch over the practitioners and force them to remain motionless while sitting on the bench. Usually some hard objects are inserted underneath the practitioners' lower legs or ankles to make it harder for them to tolerate this abuse (see illustration at http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2001/11/24/16156.html).
8. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Yao Yanhui Is Seized in Another Region
Falun Gong practitioner Yao Yanhui was arrested on January 19, 2004. The details are being investigated.
9. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Rong Lianzhi and a Northeastern Practitioner Are Arrested
On February 2, 2004 Falun Gong practitioners Rong Lianzhi of Caijiazui Area, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, and Xiao Wang from the Northeast of China were arrested at Shuanghu Bridge, Shuiguohu District, in Wuhan City. Their whereabouts are still unknown.
10. [Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province] Wang Guimei Is Seized Again
Before the Chinese New Year (at the end of January 2004), Falun Gong practitioners Zhou Maoling and Wang Guimei of Shabei Village, Puji Town, Jiaozhou City were arrested by police while they were handing out fact-clarification materials. Zhou Maoling walked away from the scene using her righteous thoughts, and Wang Guimei was released two days after the incident. On January 23, police arrested Wang Guimei once again. Her whereabouts is unknown.
11. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Fenghua Is Arrested
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Fenghua of Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province delivered a letter and clarified the facts of the persecution at Chaoyang City Xinhua Local Police Station on the afternoon of February 5, 2004 (the Lantern festival). She was detained and is now being held at the Shijiazi Detention Center.

12. [Jinzhong city, Shanxi Province] Ms. Wu Changfeng Is Arrested
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Changfeng of Yuci District, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province is about 60 years old. She was arrested by local police on January 28, 2004. Her whereabouts are unknown.
