(Clearwisdom.net) From December 1 to 3, 2004, the "Uncompromising Spirit" Art Exhibition was successfully held at Humber College in Toronto. This was also the fourth stop of the Canadian painting exhibition tour.
The first three exhibitions were held at Toronto City Hall and two other universities, and these were also very successful. Because of the good quality of education it provides, Humber College was once selected as one of the 12 best colleges in North America. It has 15,000 full-time students and 55,000 part-time students, including many Chinese students. This art exhibition coincided with the publication of the Epoch Times' Editorial, the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party". During the art exhibition, Chinese students and Falun Gong practitioners also had several lengthy discussions on the role the Chinese Communist Party has played in the persecution of Falun Gong.
This exhibition was sponsored by Falun Gong practitioners who study in this college and the college's student center. The process of setting up this exhibition was quite smooth. After Mr. Miller, who is in charge of the Student Center, listened to the introduction of Falun Dafa and the facts of the persecution, he expressed his sympathy for practitioners' sufferings. He kindly provided a storing room and easels for the exhibition. He was also in charge of printing and putting up posters. He contacted the college's security department and got approval for the practitioners to distribute materials.
The exhibition was held in the Student Center where there are always a lot of people. Humber College also provided audio and video equipment for practitioners to play truth-clarifying video programs. Many students stopped to watch. Through the art exhibition, students learned the facts and expressed their sympathy toward the persecuted practitioners in China. Some of them even shed tears.
The exhibition was held for three days. On the first day, a Chinese student studying in Humber College came to watch the exhibition but did not say anything and left. On the third day, he came back again. He talked with practitioners and told them that he had read Falun Gong books before, but he did not believe that Falun Gong was so great. He even thought that Falun Gong practitioners were superstitious. After talking with practitioners for about 2 hours, there was a significant change in his attitude. In their conversations, practitioners talked from Christianity, Buddhism to Falun Dafa, from the virtue and wisdom of Yao, Shun and Yu (legendary model monarchs of ancient China) to the Chinese Communist Party's suppression of Falun Gong. In the end, practitioners told the Chinese student that many practitioners have received high-level educations and they would not blindly believe in something. They believe in Falun Dafa because Falun Dafa convinced them. How could it be wrong for a practice to allow millions of people to truly follow goodness? Practitioners wished that he would not believe in those lies that defame Falun Gong and told him to remember that Falun Dafa is great. He agreed.
More and more Chinese people learned the facts. Some directly came to talk with practitioners after viewing the exhibition and said, "We all knew about this. The Chinese Communist Party has never told the truth. We wish you good luck!"
A teacher of a practitioner who is a student in the college also came to view the exhibition. She cried upon learning about the persecution suffered by Falun Gong practitioners in China. She felt very proud of her student for doing such a meaningful thing.
The Chinese people's awakening was most impressive during this art exhibition. Many Chinese people could view these paintings from a positive angle. They carefully thought about it and took the initiative to talk with practitioners. Holding an art exhibition in a college, practitioners could still feel the baneful influence of the persecution and the hate propaganda in people's minds, especially the Chinese people. Clearing away the influence and pollution of the persecution and the deceptive propaganda over the past few years has become a very important part of holding art exhibitions.
