Facts of the Persecution

1. Police extort money from abductees -- five elderly Falun Dafa practitioners arrested

Ever since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, practitioners in Chi County, Hebei Province, have stepped forward to publicly clarify the truth and validate Falun Dafa. The authorities responsible are very alarmed because they do not want the public to find out about the brutality of the persecution, so they have taken aggressive action to arrest and detain more than one hundred practitioners, and have sentenced more than sixty to labor camps or prisons. Several hundred practitioners were illegally fined a total of well over several hundred thousand yuan, which was mostly pocketed by the police. On October 18, 2004, around 3 p.m., five elderly practitioners Ms. Ren Guimei, Ms. Wang Xiuying, Ms. Zhao Fenglan, Ms. Qu Fengying, and Ms. Wang Yulan were arrested while clarifying the truth. Among them, Ms. Ren Guimei and Ms. Wang Xiuying were held at the police substation, where Ms. Ren was forced to sit on the Iron Chair (1) for several hours. On September 20, 2004, practitioner Ms. Liu Dianrong was unexpectedly arrested at her home and detained for fifteen days at the police substation. On May 13, 2004, practitioners Zhang Shun (gender unknown) and Ms. Wang Yu, both over sixty years old, were reported to police while posting truth clarifying banners, and Ms. Wang Yu was detained. There were several other practitioners detained and fined by the police before this incident.

2. Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Guo Yunzhi sentenced to prison

Ms. Guo Yunzhi is fifty years old and resides in the living quarters of the Township and Towns Administration, Zezhou County, Jincheng City, Shanxi Province. She was arrested on January 20, 2001, and sentenced to the Xindian Women's Labor Camp located in Taiyuan City, where she endured beatings and brainwashing, forced-feedings and very degrading tortures. On August 9, 2002, her sentence was extended three weeks, during which time she almost died from the torture, after which she was released. On March 17, 2004, Jincheng City State Security police officers Tian Yi (male Team Leader) and Zhang Tianhe (male) stormed into her home, arrested her, and ransacked her house. She went on a hunger strike to protest her treatment and was brutally force-fed with a tube thicker than a person's thumb forced through her nose. She has been forced to attend the brainwashing sessions several times with the tube still inside her nose. In court, people saw her after her three-month-long hunger strike. She was sentenced to five years in prison. As of this date, she is still on a hunger strike in the Jincheng City Detention Center, pending her transfer to prison. The prosecutors were Shi Xiaoqiang (male) and Fan Lili (female). Practitioner Ms. Liu Gairong was sentenced to three years in prison and Mr. Zhang Yuliang (a practitioner who is almost eighty years old) to three years in prison.

3. Falun Dafa practitioners in Gansu Province sue Governor Lu Hao (male)

During Governor Lu's term, from 2000 to the present, twenty-eight practitioners were tortured to death; more than one thousand practitioners were sentenced to labor camps; and more than one hundred practitioners were sentenced to prison. In Gongjiawan, brainwashing sessions were held one after another. The torture of practitioners in the Lanzhou Women's Prison and Dingxi Prison has been escalating. It has been reported that both Ms. Tang Qiong, and Mr. Bi Wenming were killed, one after the other. As governor of Gansu Province, Lu Hao is directly responsible for their deaths.
