(Clearwisdom.net) I am a practitioner from Yuhe Town in the Weicheng District of Weifang City, Shandong Province. I began practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. I have never been to school. In the beginning when we had group study, fellow practitioners would take turns reading each paragraph. I then just looked at the book and listened to them. I could follow along with them initially, but later on I could not keep up with their pace and often got lost as to what page they were reading. I could do nothing but just listen to them quietly. I was determined that one day I would read Teacher's books.
My husband works in a cement plant. I need to do all the housework. My children go to school during the day. I then try to finish all the housework during the day. After my husband got back from work, I would ask him to read Zhuan Falun for me. At the practice site I read together with fellow practitioners, and at home I asked my husband and son to teach me. I kept doing this for a long time.
On July 14, 1999, someone in the Fangzi area slandered Dafa. Together with other practitioners, I went to appeal to the Weifang City government. After July 22, 1999, Jiang's regime started persecuting Falun Gong. All practitioners who participated in the appeal on July 14 were beaten up. They kicked me with their boots and beat me with a broom until the broom was broken. They even asked me to buy a new one. How ridiculous they are! I was beaten until both of my arms were black and blue. They also detained us and forced us to pay 600 yuan each before they would release us. The town officials asked my family to give them the money, or we could not go home. After I returned home, the daughter-in-law of a local official was moved to tears after seeing my bruises. However, my husband no longer supported me. In order to expose the vicious persecution, I would sometimes show my bruises to other villagers. My husband felt ashamed of me and no longer read the Fa for me. I then tried to read by myself. When I saw words that I didn't know, I would ask my son. My daughter was afraid that she would be mistreated because of me, so she did not talk to me.
These are the consequences of the persecution. Our happy family was no longer the same. But regardless of others' attitudes, I was determined in practicing Falun Dafa and reading the books.
One time when I was concentrating on reading the book, I suddenly saw a golden shiny brightness. All the characters became golden. Tears flowed from my eyes: I knew that Teacher was encouraging me. I have become more diligent in studying the Fa since then.
It is truly miraculous. Gradually I was able to read the whole book Zhuan Falun and other truth-clarification materials. At first I was not willing to read experience-sharing articles because I thought I would not be able to read them. My younger sister told me, "You cannot keep up with the pace of Fa rectification if you do not read. If you can read Zhuan Falun, you can read those articles too." I indeed understood the content when I read them. I saw other practitioners' righteous thoughts and deeds through those articles. I was deeply encouraged.
I was an illiterate person and now I can read Dafa books. I cannot express my gratitude towards Teacher in words.
Sometimes when I clarified the truth at night, I was afraid that my husband would find out and stop me. I then sent forth righteous thoughts and went out after he fell asleep. During the progress of Fa rectification, I have come to understand that what I am doing is most righteous and I need not be so secret. I then told him before I went out. My husband was very afraid. I then clarified the truth to him while I sending forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil factor in other dimensions. He gradually changed his attitude.
One time he had a toothache. On his way to work, he saw a truth clarification banner had fallen to the ground. He then hung it up on the tree. At lunchtime he found that his toothache had disappeared. He asked me the reason after he got home. I told him, "Because you did something to support Dafa, now you get paid back. Gods are watching our every deed!"
Since then my husband never stops me from clarifying the truth. I will follow the path of cultivation that Teacher guides me to validate and I will clarify the truth.
