(Clearwisdom.net) According to the China's Zhongxin News Agency, Xia Yutian died in the early morning of July 30, 2004. Xia Yutian, 66 at his death, was a scholar who helped Jiang's regime persecute Falun Gong. He died of several illnesses, including hepatitis, cirrhosis, kidney problems and peritonitis.

Xia Yutian served as the Vice Chairman of the Chinese Opera and Art Association and Chairman of the Hubei Province Opera and Art Association. In 2003, he was named a role model for studying and implementing Jiang's ideology of the "Three Represents" by Wuhan City and Hubei Province. Afterwards, he was honored as the advanced model of implementing the 16th People's Congress key points and the "Three Represents" by the Chinese Propaganda Ministry.

In the spring of 2000, following Jiang's directives to gain further personal advantage for himself, Xia Yutian wanted to put together a book slandering Falun Gong. At that time, several colleagues from other locations had come to Wuhan, and Xia Yutian asked them if they would write something to defame Falun Gong. When his colleagues declined, Xia Yutian created three programs to slander Falun Gong. All of them figured prominently in the nationwide campaign of false propaganda contrived to demonize Falun Gong in the mind of the public, and thereby turn public support against Falun Gong in favor of the dictator's evil whims.

Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.
