Facts of Persecution

1) Zhang Huizhen, a seventy-year-old woman, was abducted by the police and taken to a detention center. Below is her account of the persecution she suffered: On May 1, 2002, a group of policemen broke into my home, confiscated my personal property and forcibly took me to the police station where they interrogated me. While the policemen were searching my house, my husband was in the hospital in serious condition. When he heard that the police had stolen our property, he could not bear the trauma and passed away on May 5, 2002. Thereafter, the public security bureau called me for questioning periodically. In December 2002, I was abducted and detained for fifteen days.

2) My name is Zhao Xingyou. I am 64 years old and live in Zhaojatun, Shuiquan Township, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. My wife, Shi Guizhi, 62, is currently imprisoned in Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. My wife was reported to the police by a member of the residence committee while handing out truth-clarifying material at the Yabuli Town Forestry Bureau in Shangzhi City, Heilongjiang Province. She was with another woman, Wang, 72, who was cured of cancer after practicing Falun Gong. My wife was imprisoned in the police station for one week, and then she was sent back to Shuancheng City. She was finally given a three-year sentence in Wanjia Forced Labor Camp, where she has been beaten up, cursed at, and forced to labor for long hours

3) Persons responsible for the persecution of practitioners imprisoned in Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin city are as follows:

Zheng Jindong, the Vice-Director of Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp, is mainly in charge of persecuting practitioners. He is the mastermind behind the plan to force practitioners to sign statements renouncing Falun Gong through brutal torture. He also personally commanded the force-feeding of a group of practitioners who were on hunger strike together to appeal against the persecution during the fall of 2001. In winter of 2001, he again organized a "meeting" during which many practitioners were severely tortured.

Chang Jianping, the prison "Guidance Guard" of the 4^th Group in the Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp, frequently gave "speeches" or "talks" designed to confuse practitioners with untruths and to destroy their belief. If practitioners rejected his ideas he would then unveil his true nature and send practitioners to the torture room for further torture. During the spring and summer of 2002, the practitioners in the 4^th Group who had previously given in to torture and signed statements renouncing Falun Dafa realized their mistake and solemnly declared those statements null and void. The group-brainwashing scheme instituted in the 4^th Group thus fell apart and completely failed.

Wang Lifang, male, about 30, the lowest-level prison guard, always curses practitioners scornfully whenever he sees them and beats practitioners mercilessly.

Du Yingxin, about 20, also a common policeman, has tortured practitioners many times.

4) My name is Cui Shujing. I am a 41-year-old professional photographer. Since July 20, 1999, the police have stolen my personal property many times. My husband and I also have been abducted frequently and sent to detention centers, police stations, and brainwashing centers in Jilin City, Jilin Province. Policemen in those places cursed and assaulted repeatedly. They did not allow us to use the bathroom, nor allow us enough to eat. The policemen stole our camera, which was valued at 2,000 yuan, and also 4,000 yuan in cash. We were forced to become homeless in order to avoid further persecution. We later rented a room in Changchun City, Jilin Province. One night around 7 o'clock, police abducted my husband and took him to Yangjiawaizi police station. I became homeless again, traveling about on my own.

5) Xia Qunying, a 25-year-old practitioner from Hezhou City, Guangxi Province, has been robbed by police twice since July 20, 1999. The police broke into her home and stole 1,000 yuan, a cell phone and a VCD. Afterwards they returned frequently to search her house for Falun Dafa material and books. Her whole family was forced to leave their hometown to avoid further harassment. In October 2001 she was illegally abducted and taken to Nanning Female Forced Labor Camp. It has been three years and her current whereabouts are unknown.
