Facts of the Persecution

1) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xiao Jingsen was illegally sent to prison in October 2000 for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He was detained for three years at the Changle Labor Education Center in Weifang City, Shandong Province, where he was tortured. He was beaten and kicked. The police smashed his head against the wall, shocked him with electric batons, beat him over his back and legs with a folding bench, stabbed in the back with sewing needles, did not allow him to sleep, forced him to take cold water baths, beat him with a plank, whipped him, and forced him to do intensive labor continuously for 15 hours. He was black and blue all over his body.

2) Ms Li Hongmei from Acheng City, Heilongjiang Province has been inhumanly tortured since July 20, 1999 for believing in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance." She was arrested many times and was sent to labor education in Wanjia Labor Education Center twice. In 2000, when she was detained at the Acheng City Education Center, she was once brutally force-fed for going on a hunger strike to protest her illegal detention. Liu Yi, a policeman, and 6 or 7 others kicked her and dragged her along the floor. They put tubes in her mouth to force-feed her. It was extremely painful. After she was force-fed, she was forced to run laps around the exercise yard. They threatened that she would be force-fed again if she threw up. Her mom, who was nearly 70 years old, was detained together with her for being firm in her belief in Falun Dafa. Seeing this, she was scared and her whole body shivered. She was soon released due to her old age. After she went home the officials of Farmer's Equipment Factory often went to her home to harass her. The police station also kept on pressuring her. The elderly woman, with a weak body, could not go home and was always nervous. With the tortures she received during the detention, she soon passed away. Moreover Li Hongmei's elder brother Li Hongbin was persecuted to death in the Changlizi Labor Education Center.

3) The Brutal Persecution of Four Falun Gong practitioners in Zhuanghe, Dalian City, Heilongjiang Province:

A. In March 2003, while Ms Cai Ping was detained at Masanjia Labor Education Center, she was locked up by the police in a warehouse with poisonous chemicals which were very harmful. There was no bed in the warehouse. She could only lie down on the cement floor, but was not allowed to sleep. Each day she was only given small corn flour buns. She was handcuffed to the wall, cursed, beaten, tortured, locked up in small wards, and was forced to sit on iron chairs.

B. Ms Zhang Guixia was locked up in a small ward in Masanjia Labor Education Center. She went on hunger a strike for 7 or 8 months. The police put tubes in her to force-feed her. They kept the tubes in for several days at a time. She was handcuffed for a long time. Every day she was forced to squat and was not allowed to stand up. Sometimes she was not allowed to sleep for a whole night.

C. Ms Wang Fang was also illegally detained at Masanjia. She was forced by the police to sit with her arms twisted upward, and she was hung up with her legs bound in a cross legged position.

D. Ms Li Guang was illegally detained for 2-years of labor education at the Masanjia Labor Education Center, with a 2-month term extension. On February 9, 2002, when Li Guang was just released from Masanjia Labor Education Center, she was tricked into going to the Huangjia Police Station where she was detained for 1 month and 5 days for no reason.

4) Recent Situations of Falun Gong Practitioners under Persecution in the Chengdu Detention Center:

Ms Zhu Junxiu was forced to wear handcuffs or shackles for a long time. She was hospitalized before October. We do not know her current situation. Three of her family members were also illegally sent to the forced labor camp for practicing Falun Gong and not turning in their relatives. Du Peiyang was detained and was tortured until she suffered from high blood pressure and pneumonia. She was in critical condition many times and her whole body was swollen. She was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment, yet she was still sentenced to 3-years detention later on. Ms Yuan Yi was sentenced to 2-years detention and charged with the fabricated crime of "revealing national secrets" for being firm in her belief in Falun Gong and exposing the crimes by Jiang's group and their persecution of Falun Gong. During her detention she developed a lump in her womb. She was detained for one and a half years. Her current location is not known. Ms. Zhang Yalin was once persecuted until she suffered mental collapse and lost control of her bladder. Yet the police attempted to send her to the Nanmusi Labor Education Center in Zizhong City on three separate occasions. Each time, she was sent back because of her poor health condition. Later her family was able to take her home after appealing to many parties and hiring lawyers.

5) Since September 28, 2001, when Wuhou District Brainwashing session in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province was started, over 30 Falun Gong practitioners have been detained there. There are still nearly 10 practitioners there in long-term detention. Liu Zhenghai from Jinyang has been illegally detained for over two and a half years. Zhang Shengrong has been detained for over 2 years. Lu Xingping from Shuangnan has been detained for over 2 years. Guo Shicai from the 11^th Factory has been detained for over a year and a half. Luo Huishun has been detained for one year and 8 months, and was sent to the Xinjin Brainwashing Class for further persecution on April 25, 2003. Ms Xiang Sufen from Shuangnan was sent to the district brainwashing class three times and was tortured until she had a mental breakdown. Except for the four practitioners including Zhang Shiqing and Zheng Youmei who broke out from there with hunger striking and righteous thoughts, the rest of the practitioners were all seriously tortured.

6) On November 20, 2003, Falun Gong practitioners Jiang Shifeng, Guo Yongfang, and Huang Faxing went to spread Falun Gong in Beichuan County near the border of Jinyang City and Jiangyou City. They were illegally arrested and are currently being detained at Beichuan County Police Station. It is the third time that Guo Yongfang and Jiang Shifeng were arrested. Jiang Shifeng was once illegally sentenced to one and a half years detention for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was bailed out for medical treatment of scabies. After she was released from the Nanmusi Female Labor Education Center in Zizhong, she was asked by the Changgang 4^th Factory to report to the factory every day. She faced the vicious people and exposed their crimes. The officials in the factory were annoyed. They sent Jiang Shifeng, Guo Yongfang and Kang Gongyou to the Nanmusi forced labor camp for further persecution.

7) In Qidong County Falun Gong practitioners were seriously tortured by the Public Security bureau, the Law Department, and the "the 610 Office." The persecution included illegal searching of practitioner's residences, destroying Falun Gong books, arresting practitioners and sentencing them to forced labor camps all without any compassion or legal procedure. For example, He Zhengrong, chairman of the Administration and Security Department of the county, and Li Wei, Huang Qimin, and Cheng Huanzhu from the same department brutally tortured practitioners, including purposely beating them on the joints of the bones (i.e. ankle, knees, wrists, shoulders), pulling their hair, choking them, handcuffing their hands behind the back with one hand up and one hand down and inserting bricks to cause great pain, or back handcuffing them and hanging them from the handcuffs with a rope, so that their feet could not touch the ground. Their methods were extremely cruel.
